Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told Kara Swisher on the “Pivot” podcast that Republicans are deploying what she called a “very effective” anti-communist attack against the Democratic Party’s rising class of far-left candidates, who are increasingly defeating establishment Democrats in primary races.

Clinton told Swisher that Abdul El-Sayed’s narrow victory in Michigan’s Democratic Senate primary is a wake-up call for the party. She said El-Sayed must unite the party by winning over supporters of moderate Rep. Haley Stevens and reassuring independent voters ahead of his general election contest against Republican Mike Rogers.

“The real fight will be, how do we make sure that people who voted for Haley feel comfortable voting for Abdul El-Sayed, and how do we get independents to feel comfortable,” Clinton said.

“It’s not just about Michigan, but the Republican messaging is ‘communist, socialist.’ It’s going to be a very effective attack,” she warned, adding, “People on the left have to be prepared to answer that and be effective in answering that.”

MS NOW host Jonathan Capehart joined PBS News Hour anchor Amna Nawaz and The Atlantic staff writer David Brooks on Friday to defend Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from Brooks’s accusation of being a socialist. While that may have been a bridge too far for Capehart, he had no problem claiming President Trump’s new birthright citizenship executive orders were “openly racist” and “white nationalist.”

To the race-obsessed, all things are racist.

Capehart wasn’t the only member of the trio upset at GOP labeling efforts. Nawaz lamented to Brooks, “What we have seen from Republicans on the messaging front so far is some anti-Muslim rhetoric already. Republicans are now using Dr. El-Sayed’s full name in their ads, which they haven’t used before, which is Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed, which I guess is supposed to scare people or something. But the president is also talking about a rising communism threat. None of these candidates are communists. Are those the strongest messages the Republicans have right now?”

Both Muslims and communists represent existential threats to both the country and our civilization. How much stronger a message is there?

In the heart of the Oxford Union, a supposed bastion of open debate, a single brown paper envelope triggered pure panic.

Commentator Laurence Fox stood to argue that the West is right to be suspicious of Islam. He held up the envelope and indicated it contained a cartoon of the prophet Muhammad. The chamber erupted in frantic attempts to stop him opening it. Rules were suddenly invoked. Relevance was questioned. Respect was demanded.

The Muslim president of the Union interjected that her very presence should have been enough to persuade Fox that Muslims believe in free speech.

“My wife asked me not to show this for fear of repercussions for my family,” Fox said. “But I told her that if I did not, I would have submitted to Islam.” He continued that the West should resist Islam “in the strongest terms on free-speech grounds alone.”

Fox opened the envelope and revealed a cartoon of Rees-Mogg. Laughter and applause followed. The fear that had gripped the room evaporated the instant it became clear the image did not depict Muhammad.

In that moment the argument was settled more effectively than any speech could manage.

Indeed, if you look at the political timeline, there is a comparative similarity between a mid-term senate race (Obama in ’06) and El-Sayed in ’26; with politically higher aspirations for 2028.

Tina Descovich, the group’s CEO, says her claim does not stem from her own personal opinion, but from years of tracking union resolutions, curricula, and meetings, as well national education data.

The Department of Education’s 2025 National Assessment of Educational Progress revealed that a record 32% of high school seniors cannot read proficiently, and almost half cannot do basic math. Fourth- and eighth-grade math and reading scores also fell, continuing a collapse that began before the COVID-19 school closures.

“The teachers unions are the reason public education is failing in America,” Descovich said, adding that they focus on “everything but education.”

His comments have provoked a wave of condemnation from a number of religious faiths, with Muslim leaders describing them as divisive and discriminatory.

Prof Michalinos Zembylas, professor of educational theory at the Open University of Cyprus, and Prof Anoop Nayak, of Newcastle University, were among four external academics chosen to sit on the nine-member panel that unanimously selected Mr Arday in 2022.

Academic articles reviewed by The Telegraph show that one professor called for the “re-education of whites”, while another condemned “neo-liberal whiteness” in UK and US universities.

From recent satellite imagery, the Russian Navy now looks to be using nets to protect submarines from drone attacks at a highly strategic base on the country’s far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula. There are also signs that Russian forces have been taking new steps at a separate base along the Black Sea to shield submarines against uncrewed aerial threats. The appearance of the nets over the submarines at the base in Kamchatka point to how Russia’s concerns about drone threats have extended to critical facilities far removed from the battlefields of Ukraine.

TWZ obtained the imagery showing the netting in place over submarines at the Russian Navy’s base at Rybachiy from Vantor. Business insider was first to report on these images. Rybachiy is notably the homeport for the vast majority of Borei and Borei-A class nuclear ballistic missile submarines, or SSBNs, in service in Russia today. It is also home to various other guided missile and attack submarines assigned to the Russian Navy’s Pacific Fleet.

What is visible in the imagery is broadly consistent with netting that Russian forces have employed in and around Ukraine as a countermeasure against kamikaze drone attacks against assets on the ground and in the water. A U.S. critical minerals company has recently confirmed the nation’s largest known tungsten resource at its Railroad Valley Minerals Project in Nye County, Nevada, despite a NASA land withdrawal restricting exploration across part of the site.

I think it’s important to keep in mind that Paula had entered of her own free will into a relationship with her alleged killer, and had let him father her child. It’s as if they’ve never heard about the risks involved in such relationships, and perhaps they haven’t, since the politically correct media and popular culture strive mightily to hide the truth.

There were tons of protests when that happened. And I think it was my impression, at least, that such an action could motivate Democrats, and not just Democrats, but independent and even some Republicans in that district to show up and vote today. Have you seen any evidence of that energy, either in Tennessee or in other states where Republicans have taken similar actions?”

Bringing veterans into your organization shouldn’t be a charitable act, or some abstract nod to patriotism. The sacrifices military service requires, even for a single enlistment, can demonstrate to savvy hiring managers that this individual knows how to successfully integrate into a group and improve it at every level. The military is not a status quo organization. I like to hire veterans because, time and again, they will outperform my expectations.

Whether in sales, estimating, field management, or administration, construction — my industry — is an unforgiving business. Projects have tight schedules, changing priorities, demanding customers, and little room for excuses. Success depends on people who show up every day, solve problems under pressure, and remain committed to the team when things become difficult.

Those are the exact characteristics the military develops.

They also beat into you the notion that The Mission Comes First. That is an excellent work ethic to offer an employer, and more than one employer during my working life have told me how much they appreciate it.

In March 2023, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich claimed at a conference in France that, “there is no such thing as a Palestinian people.” News outlets quoted him saying “There is no such thing as a Palestinian nation. There is no Palestinian history. There is no Palestinian language,” and asking rhetorically “Is there a Palestinian history or culture? There is none.”

Smotrich was correct in many respects. There is no nation called “Palestine” and no “Palestinian” language, but there is a Palestinian culture. It was forged mostly by Yasser Arafat, the PLO’s leader for five decades, and is singularly defined by violence. Unique among all other Arab cultures and national identities, Palestinian culture and the Palestinian identity are predicated on a single political goal – the unceasing desire to destroy an existing country, in this case Israel.

Take away the resistance, and there’s nothing left of a distinctly Palestinian culture.

Not all Muslims are terrorists (just as not all Nazis were genocides) but almost all terrorists are Muslims.

The New York Times has finally noticed the academic credibility meltdown at one of the premier universities in the world, Cambridge: Ex-professor Jason Arday, a plagiarist and fabulist who rocketed up the academic ladder, enabled by gullible or perhaps intimidated fellow scholars, aided by lawyerly muscle and even Scotland Yard to keep doubters quiet.

Yet the Times article saved its harshest words for Arday’s exposers, smearing a scholar with the effrontery to challenge Arday’s ludicrous C.V. as “racist.”

Reporters Jennifer Schuessler and Alexandra Alter treated Arday with the journalistic equivalent of raised eyebrows — yet reserved their true hostility for a scholar who dared expose Arday’s plagiarism. As “philosopher of biology” Nathan Cofnas wrote on X: “The only person explicitly smeared in the NY Times’ write-up of the Arday affair is me.”

As they habitually do. That’s what being Narrative Media is all about.

Spain is bracing for a possible second mass migrant crossing into Ceuta as the political fallout from last week’s unprecedented border breach spreads from Madrid to Brussels.

The Guardia Civil is closely monitoring social media messages calling on migrants to gather in the Moroccan border town of Castillejos on August 15 before attempting to enter the Spanish enclave.

Sources within the force told 20minutos that the threat was “more than a rumour,” with mobilisation messages circulating through WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook groups with as many as 400,000 members.

Officials believe another influx on the scale of July 30—when Spanish authorities say more than 72,000 migrants crossed from Morocco—is unlikely because security has since been dramatically reinforced. But Interior Ministry sources acknowledged that another attempted mass entry was a real possibility, saying authorities would be prepared.

President Donald Trump signed two executive orders on Thursday aimed at limiting birthright citizenship, after the Supreme Court in June struck down his previous order restricting the policy.

“We had a very unfortunate decision in the Supreme Court concerning birthright [citizenship]… so we’re making adjustments,” Trump said in the Oval Office.

Birthright citizenship is the practice of the babies of noncitizens receiving citizenship if they are born in the United States. The Supreme Court’s majority opinion in Trump v. Barbara, authored by Chief Justice John Roberts and issued on June 30, stated that the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment requires all children born within the United States to automatically qualify as citizens at birth.

Trump’s first executive order, signed on Thursday, identifies certain categories of children of noncitizens who are not entitled to birthright citizenship. The White House says those categories are consistent with historical exceptions recognized by the Supreme Court.

The second order directs the secretaries of state and homeland security to end the practice of birth tourism, when a foreign national travels to the U.S. for the purpose of giving birth to a child and obtaining citizenship for that child. In recent years, Chinese nationals have hired surrogates to give birth to their children on U.S. territory.

“People are building businesses around it, from—wealthy people are building businesses around birthright citizenship. That’s not the way it’s supposed to work. It’s a disgrace,” Trump said. They’re buying their way in, and we’re not going to let it happen.”

Supporters of an Arizona version of the SAVE Act allege that the state’s top election official used loaded and inaccurate language to describe the measure when putting it on the November ballot.

A group of Arizona voters is suing the office of Democrat Arizona Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, alleging the office omitted key provisions, inserted political commentary, and made unsupported claims about the legal effect of Proposition 144, a proposed state constitutional amendment to add voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements in elections.

The Legislature referred the measure to Fontes’ office in the form of a four-page bill and did not propose a summary to use in ballot language. Plaintiffs contend the secretary of state is still required to provide neutral language in the summary, and are asking the court for new ballot language before early voting on the measure begins in October.

By now you probably know that Cambridge professor Jason Arday has quit his position without acknowledging guilt. The final straw was apparently that he had claimed to have written a book that doesn’t exist. He blames his decision to resign on harassment by the people who uncovered his lies.

It’s really an extraordinary letter, under the circumstances – the circumstances being that Arday was caught in an enormous number of lies, and with having issued other statements about his history that were so suspicious as to probably be lies. And yet he claims both integrity and victimhood, even as he leaves the fray.

A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced a federal legislation Thursday in the House and Senate aimed at protecting houses of worship from disruptive demonstrations, following a series of protests outside of synagogues this year.

The Right to Worship Act was introduced by Sens. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican, and Elissa Slotkin, a Michigan Democrat, alongside Reps. Brad Knott, a North Carolina Republican, and Tom Suozzi, a New York Democrat. It would establish a 100-foot “buffer zone” around houses of worship during religious services — mirroring similar legislation recently enacted in New York.

“The First Amendment guarantees every American the right to freely exercise their faith, and Congress has a duty to ensure that guarantee is met,” Cruz said in a statement Thursday.

The legislation would also establish civil penalties for offenders and provide pathways for individuals, including state attorneys, to seek court orders and damages in federal court. While the legislation would target protesters who knowingly disrupt scheduled religious services, houses of worship would not be required to make their schedules public.

Nearly all Jewish students surveyed on Canadian university campuses said they have experienced or witnessed antisemitism, according to a new government-commissioned report.

The survey from the Department of Canadian Heritage found that 95.7% of Jewish students said they were exposed to antisemitism, with 70% saying their university did not take antisemitism seriously and 22% reporting physical violence against Jews.

“Antisemitism on Canadian campuses is neither isolated nor episodic,” said Jack Jedwab, the report’s main author, at a press conference in Ottawa on Wednesday. “It can reasonably be described as systemic.”

The surveyed students anonymously detailed rhetoric, discriminatory treatment, vandalism, intimidation and physical attacks from their classmates as well as professors and administrators. Some 45% said they experienced Holocaust denial or distortion often or sometimes, and 65% said they encountered it “at least rarely.”

One respondent said they had witnessed a friend who wears a kippah being chased out of a school building by a group of students who shouted, “There is a Jew … let’s get him.”

As long as Jews keep voting for socialists, they’re going to have this problem. When are they going to realize that the only real difference between Socialists and National Socialists is the color of their uniforms?

Wealthy New Yorkers are seeking exemptions to Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s second-home tax, with thousands filing applications to avoid the levy.

Time to leave, not beg favors from the government.

New York City Hall confirmed to FOX Business that as of Monday, about 4,800 property owners have started the process of applying for an exemption to the pied-à-terre tax. Of that total, about 2,000 property owners have completed their exemption applications.

The fact that exemptions are available suggests that, in addition to making a political talking point, it’s also going to serve as a vehicle for Democrat graft.

Individuals who have been notified about being potentially subject to the pied-à-terre tax have until Sept. 18 to apply for an exemption, according to the New York City Department of Finance. That deadline was extended from the original deadline of Aug. 21.

Available to the politically well-connected … and those who pony up the appropriate sweetener, no doubt. This is, after all, New York.

The Houthi rebels of Yemen have launched one of their biggest attacks on Saudi-aligned forces in that country in years. The strikes are a flare-up in what up until recently has been a largely dormant conflict. They took place in eastern Yemeni provinces of Marib and Hadhramaut, which are areas controlled by local forces opposed to the Houthis. This unfolded as the Iranian-backed rebel group is also expanding its campaign against Saudi shipping in the Red Sea region and its oil production infrastructure.

The Houthis claim they killed and injured hundreds of the Saudi-aligned troops. Yemeni government officials said that at least 30 troops were killed while there has been no official comment from Riyadh. However, the U.S. Embassy in Yemen, the Yemeni Defense Ministry and the Saudi-led forces confirmed the attacks.

“Our armed forces carried out a broad and precise military operation targeting the Saudi enemy’s mobilizations in the areas of Al-Ruwaik, Al-Abr, and Al-Thaniyah, and other camps belonging to what is called the First and Third Emergency Divisions, using a large number of ballistic missiles and drones,” Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree stated on X. In addition to “the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Saudi enemy mercenaries,” Saree claimed the “destruction and burning of a large number of Saudi enemy camps, mobilizations, storage depots, and weapons in the Al-Wadiah area in the east of the country” as well as the “destruction of a large number of vehicles.”

One of the problems with American politics is how the two-party system tends to foster a Manichean duality on every issue. The Democrat “borg” (which includes media and academia) pushes whatever its policy agenda may be at any moment, and demonizes anyone who dissents. Meanwhile, those of us in the conservative opposition (Republicans, by default) are compelled to naysay whatever Democrats are advocating. Over the course of decades, one may see the two coalitions change — constituent groups changing loyalties — but this process is usually so gradual that it is not recognized at the time such shifts are happening.

One of the sudden shifts came in 1994, when the Republican Party’s “Contract With America” helped produce one of the most consequential midterm elections in American history. For the first time in 40 years, the GOP captured control of both Houses of Congress. Among other things, 1994 marked the beginning of the end of moderate or conservative Democrats being able to win elections in the South. This was ironic, in that Bill Clinton had been elected as an alleged moderate, but during his first two years as president, enacted an agenda so left-wing that it completely alienated many of his erstwhile supporters — including me.

Members of Britain’s notorious grooming gangs could be released after serving only half their prison sentences because of a loophole in the Labour government’s early-release scheme.

The Times reports that several men convicted of sexually abusing vulnerable girls may qualify despite Prime Minister Andy Burnham’s promise to exclude grooming offences from the policy.

The loophole applies to crimes committed before specific anti-grooming laws were introduced in 2003. Because the perpetrators were prosecuted under older offences such as indecent assault, they fall outside the government’s exemptions.

Among those who could benefit are Mohammed Imran Akram, Safraz Ahmed Latif, Wajid Hussain, Mohammed Naheem, and Nadeem Ali. The five men were jailed last year for abusing a Bradford girl from the age of 13 while she was in care.

They received sentences of between six and eight years—a combined total of 35 years—but some could now be released by the end of 2028.

The seven people arrested following a violent shooting and stabbing in Cologne have all been released after prosecutors concluded that there was insufficient evidence to justify keeping them in custody.

The incident unfolded late on Monday evening, August 3rd, on Berliner Straße in Cologne, where two large families from immigrant backgrounds became involved in a violent confrontation that left four people seriously injured. Two victims suffered gunshot wounds, while another two were stabbed. Despite the violence occurring on a public street, police said there was no danger to the wider public.

Investigators initially detained the four injured individuals along with two 19-year-olds and a 21-year-old in connection with the attack. However, the public prosecutor’s office announced that none of the suspects would remain in custody because the legal threshold for arrest warrants had not been met.

According to a spokesperson for the public prosecutor’s office, the “necessary level of suspicion” could not be established because investigators were unable to determine which individual was responsible for which specific act during the confrontation.

While all seven suspects have now been released, prosecutors stressed that the investigation is continuing. Authorities believe the violence was preceded by an ongoing dispute between the two families involved.

Irish health chiefs have declared that “pregnant men” are entitled to maternity leave—despite pregnancy and childbirth being exclusively female.

Gript reports that new guidance from the state-run Health Service Executive (HSE) says transgender employees who are legally recognised as male can claim 26 weeks of paid maternity leave if they become pregnant or give birth.

“Since 2023, transgender men who are pregnant or have given birth can access maternity leave,” the advice states.

To qualify, employees must hold a gender recognition certificate under Ireland’s Gender Recognition Act 2015, which allows a woman to change her legal sex to male.

They can also claim a further 16 weeks of unpaid maternity leave immediately after the paid period ends.
