We’ve been in disagreements on trade and other issues about the border with both of them recently. But here’s what’s happened. Given all this contention, you would think that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and Prime Minister Mark Carney in Canada would want to cool passion. But that’s not what happened.
Recently, Canada decided that they were going to enforce the digital services tax. That was something that was passed but not enforced yet. And what it was is a 3% tax on our tech companies—Amazon, Apple, Meta, Google—by anybody in Canada who uses their service.
You buy something online, you buy an ad, you pay a fee to any of these and you’re Canadian, then you’re going to pay 3%—you’re going to have to have a 3% tax for the use of Canadian consumers. And they don’t even have to be in Canada. They can be in the United States. So, they’re going to charge them 3%.
And this is the killer. They’re going to enforce the law all the way back to 2022. So, all of a sudden next month, our tech companies—not that I worry about their financial situation. There’s $9 trillion of market capitalization in Silicon Valley. But the idea that they’re going to be gouged for $2 or $3 billion right in the middle of these heated discussions.
And what are those heated discussions? Canada has $63 billion in trade surpluses with us. That’s one backdrop. They have an unenforced border. As we close the southern border, some of the influxes of drugs and illegal aliens started to come northward. And of course, they pay 1.37% of gross domestic product in NATO contributions.
So, given that all those are contentious issues, why would the Canadians now create a new tax? I know they passed it a while back, but why would they start enforcing it right now and try to rub our noses in it? It makes no sense.
The same thing is true of Mexico. There’s about $1.5 trillion of total trade between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. And if you look at it, most of that growth and wealth is in the United States.

New York Democrats have chosen the far-left Zohran Mamdani as their candidate for Mayor. His extremist views are coming out, one after another. What I want to reflect on here is his lawlessness. Mamdani says that if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits New York, he will have him arrested.
The obvious question is, arrested for what? The NYPD has the power to arrest those who violate New York State law. What New York law has Netanyahu violated? Has he mugged someone, like so many who face no consequences in New York City? Has he jumped a turnstile? What New York law has he violated?
Obviously, none. Zohran Mamdani says that he will arrest those, like Netanyahu, who don’t align with his “values.” This is sheer lawlessness, the perspective of a tyrant. That man disagrees with me? Arrest him!

The number of illegal migrants arriving on British shores in 2025 is now on track to be nearly 50% higher than at the same point last year, according to new estimates.
In 2024, some 13,272 were known to have crossed by the end of June. GB News, which deploys spotters at coastal ‘rescue’ sites to conduct headcounts in advance of the official figures being released, stated:
at this rate, we could hit the 20,000 mark by Tuesday.
As the report went out, around 200 individuals were spotted leaving the first wave of incoming boats onto the Kent coast. The previous ‘Red Day’—a day when the good weather permits more boat crossings than usual—saw nearly 600 migrants making the illegal crossing.
Partly in response, UK prime minister Keir Starmer has proposed a new deal on deportations with France, which he hopes can be signed during a state visit next week.
Given the entirely predictable character of such movements, Labour’s abject failure to control the problem looks more and more like a political choice.

The European Court of Human Rights on Thursday, June 26th, ruled against France in a ‘racial profiling’ case following complaints from individuals who felt they had been targeted on the basis of racial criteria during police checks.
The ECHR decision that confirmed police ‘discrimination’ for the first time in France brings the issue of ethnic statistics back to the forefront: although banned in France, recording ethnicity would in fact help to set the record straight. If police officers ‘target’ certain populations during routine checks, it is because they are overrepresented among fraudsters and offenders.
The lawsuit was based on the case of a certain Karim Touil, who was stopped nearly 15 years ago and who believes he was the victim of police harassment because of his ethnic origin. Five other cases were also heard by the Court, but were dismissed.

Activists in the revolutionary ecosystem that organize street mayhem are veering sharply from anti-deportation actions to pro-Iran ones. They may have to swap in flags of the Islamic Republic for the Mexican ones they’ve been waving in Los Angeles, or the Hamas ones they waved earlier, but so be it.
Unless, that is, the ceasefire that President Donald Trump announced late Monday sticks. In that case, the organizations in the ecosystem will move on to the next crisis, manufactured or not, that offers an opportunity to tear down society.
Who are these organizations lining up behind Iran’s theocracy? Some are committed to the anti-Israel cause, sort of a raison d’être for the Tehran regime at this point. But many others are secular, Marxist organizations that just want the destruction of the West in general.

The Greek island of Lesbos has all but stopped illegal migrant landings, thanks to Greece’s hardline policy of maritime “pushbacks”—a strategy condemned by activists but backed by locals who say it saved their island.
Once the epicentre of Europe’s migrant crisis, Lesbos saw more than 3,000 people arriving daily at the peak in 2015. Now, the total for 2025 stands at just 1,700. British newspaper The Sun reports that not a single boat landed last week, despite calm seas across the Mytilini Strait.
Locals credit the turnaround to a policy introduced by the centre-right New Democracy government in 2019: intercepting migrant boats at sea and returning them to Turkish waters, now designated a “safe third country.” The strategy has seen a dramatic fall in both arrivals and deaths—more than 75% fewer fatalities compared to 2015.

After underage girls were sexually assaulted in the Barbarossabad swimming pool in Gelnhausen, the CDU mayor of the area pointed out that “hot weather” makes tempers “fray.”
However, local Mayor Christian Litzinge (CDU) appeared to allude that the weather is at least partly to blame for the incident.
In a statement to Welt, he said: “Of course, it’s always high temperatures, and sometimes tempers are frayed.”
In a separate interview with Bild, he said, “We have zero tolerance for that.”
As Remix News previously reported, the first group of girls were groped and molested by the group of Syrians, but when they complained to a lifeguard, he took no action.
“Since we couldn’t see exactly what had happened, we sent the girls back into the water,” pool manager Nils Tischer explained to Hessischer Rundfunk.
It was only after more girls made a complaint from separate groups that the police were called.

Under the Biden-Harris regime, and with backing from rogue sanctuary states, thousands—if not tens of thousands—of non-English-speaking migrants have been granted non-domiciled Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs), a decision now under intense scrutiny following a series of deadly crashes involving 80,000-pound big rigs, including a horrific incident in Austin, Texas, that left five Americans dead.
On Friday, the US Department of Transportation (DoT) released a statement about DoT Sec. Duffy is preparing to launch a nationwide audit into states issuing non-domiciled CDLs, more specifically examining the potential for unqualified individuals obtaining these licenses to operate big rigs on America’s highways.
“This action responds directly to a key directive from President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order on Enforcing Commonsense Rules of the Road for America’s Truck Drivers and is part of Secretary Duffy’s commitment to safety,” a statement read from DoT.
DoT Sec. Duffy stated, “The open borders policies of the last administration allowed millions to flood our country – leading to serious allegations that the trucking licensing system is being exploited.”

Socialists always rise to power in the midst of failed liberal leadership. The assumption being that liberal policies accomplish nothing because they “don’t go far enough” to push the collectivist values of wealth redistribution and equity-based cultural engineering. If only the political left asserted more control over people’s lives and property, all the ailments of American society would magically disappear.
In most cases socialism also fails to make people’s lives better. Though one could argue that it does eventually achieve its goals of equal wealth – Socialism makes everyone equally poor. In countries where socialism actually finds “success” a couple of factors are always present: A small population that avoids multiculturalism and mixed demographics, and access to abundant natural resources.
Wherever socialism in introduced into an otherwise prosperous economy, the standard of living automatically degrades. When socialism is used as a bandage to stop the financial bleeding of a depressed market wounded by liberal management, it always makes things far worse.
Time to leave.

This is a post just to share a thought and guard against wishful thinking. The recent NYC primary election of privileged radical Zohran Mamdani has reminded me again of evidence of an often repeated folly of libertarians: the delusion that when once the public has experienced failed Leftist policies, they will all of a sudden be struck with self reflective insight, soon recanting past support of the failed policies, and then, finally, the newly enlightened public will support libertarian principles. An odd result of this line of thinking frequently suggests that it’s good if the others win because their failure will become a future victory. This thinking rests on the big assumption of effective and accurate feedback within a well-functioning process.
Now I’d like to state for full disclosure that I have sympathy with libertarian ideas and principles, and have been influenced by them throughout my life. However, the older I get, the more conservative I have become, and the less tolerance I find myself having with overly idealistic libertarians who are not fully plugged into reality and the way the world actually works. I think to be conservative, you must base your views, as best you can, on concrete truths and observed history and lessons learned from tradition. In this regard, libertarians fail. Soft Republicans also keep the libertarians company on this point more often than I’d like.
Case in point, the election of Zohran Mamdani. The WSJ has a new opinion article that describes the failures of the Democrat Party in NY, leading to the rise of Zohran Mamdani. So an even bigger progressive radical is required to fix the problems that the more mild progressive policies created. Yeah, right. Now, a conservative will look at the situation in NY, especially NYC, and think that it is becoming lost. To mitigate the downward spiral of NYC, a practical conservative would throw weight behind the besieged Mayor Adams (running as an independent) to fend off the truly fanatical Zohran Mamdani. From there, efforts could be made to help recover some conservative influence in governance. Or at least mitigate the awful. On the other hand, you get the libertarian types who want to see Zohran Mamdani because it will be so, so awful that it will inevitably lead to a libertarian utopia. The odds are slim to none, I say.
The essential libertarian mistake is in presuming that all adults are rational and both know and pursue their own interests.

It comes as little surprise that yet another grandiose techno-utopian vision has ended not with a triumphant march toward Net Zero, but with a flick of the off-switch. Last week, Britain’s energy secretary quietly announced that the government “has pulled the plug on a £24 billion plan to bring Moroccan wind and solar power to Britain via the world’s longest subsea electricity cable, citing concerns over security and costs” .
In other words, after years of hype, headline-grabbing simulations and talk of “reliable clean power for 19 hours a day,” the reality of risk and expense finally intruded – and the dream of Sahara sun for all has been consigned to the scrapheap.

The slang term, used increasingly since the pandemic, refers to middle-aged white women who angrily rebuke those they view as socially inferior. Sitting in an employment tribunal, a judge has now said that the term is pejorative because it implies the woman is excessively and unreasonably demanding.
Use of the term started as an internet meme. It is also associated with excessive use of Facebook, opposition to vaccinations and having a blonde bob haircut.
Judge George Alliott made his remarks in a ruling on a claim brought by Sylvia Constance, a 74-year-old black charity worker who has accused bosses of targeting her because of her race and age. In what was described at a tribunal hearing in Watford as a “trenchant” complaint, female managers at Mencap were accused of acting “like the stereotypical Karen” by having “weaponised their privilege and more powerful position” against Constance.
“There is also something very sordid about the way in which white, female management have facilitated racism … [and given] a misogynistic, racist view of the black complainant,” the grievance said.
Alliott said the tribunal noted that Karen was “a pejorative and borderline racist, sexist and ageist term”.

A new study from JAMA Pediatrics should stop us in our tracks: early adolescents who report addictive use of screens—not just frequent use—are more than twice as likely to consider suicide within two years.
And I would encourage them to do so. Think of it as evolution in action.
One of the most defective aspects of modern society, especially modern technological society, is its commitment to promoting the continued existence of people whom Natural Selection would otherwise be attempting to subtract from the gene pool.

Using the term very loosely.
For most citizens, the release of Supreme Court opinions is about as exciting as watching paint dry, particularly in a case dealing with the limits of district courts in issuing universal injunctions.
Yet Friday’s Trump v. CASA case included a virtual slugfest between Justice Amy Coney Barrett and Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
The decision was one of the biggest of the term. The Court moved to free the Administration from an onslaught of orders from district judges seeking to block the President in areas ranging from the downsizing of government to immigration.
However, it was the departure of the normally staid court analysis that attracted the most attention.
The tenor of Jackson’s language shocked not just many court watchers, but her colleagues.

Zohran Mamdani’s lead in first choices in New York City’s ranked-choice mayoral primary, and his inevitable victory when second, third, fourth, and fifth choices of trailing candidates are allocated to candidates voters ranked lower, mean that he’ll be the Democrat nominee for mayor of the nation’s largest city and the likely winner of the general election in November.
Mamdani, 33, is a three-term state assemblyman who calls himself a democratic socialist. He has backed a rent freeze, city-run grocery stores, free buses, putting homeless service centers in the subways, a $30 minimum wage, defunding the police, and replacing police with “community safety” officers.
His tweeting history includes: “NYPD is racist, anti-queer & a major threat to public safety. What we need is to #DefundTheNYPD,” “Queer liberation means defund the police,” and “Defunding the police is a feminist issue.”

A local journalist at Fox Baltimore is starting to dive into the same rabbit hole we’ve explored for years—tracing the dark money networks funneling cash into left-wing nonprofits tied to the Democratic Party machine. Whether it’s funding anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles or quietly backing political campaigns, the funding network is vast, coordinated, and often concealed behind leftist law firms that create a web of pop-up nonprofit organizations.
Gary Collins of Fox Baltimore and the Baltimore Sun recently flagged a mysterious multi-week propaganda blitz—radio ads flooding the airwaves across the Baltimore metro area with praise for far-left Gov. Wes Moore’s supposedly ‘stellar’ economy. Collins noted that the campaign is now expanding to television.
The commercial, funded by America Works USA—a dark money-funded nonprofit affiliated with the Democratic Governors Association (DGA)—promotes Moore’s potentially misleading claims of economic growth, job creation, and a budget surplus.

The stock market continues to go gangbusters, so MRC Business thought it would be worth revisiting one of CNN’s dumbest End-of-the-World predictions about the Trump presidency to date.
The Wall Street Journal reported June 27 that the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite indexes both hit record highs after the open on June 27. The newspaper summarized that “investors increasingly discounted the economic threat posed by the trade war and Middle East instability.
The gains mark a historic rebound from April’s tariff-driven turmoil.” Specifically, the S&P 500 added 0.6 percent to 6,177.14 while the Nasdaq spiked 0.5 percent to approximately 20,218, as CNBC noted, which called the S&P 500 rebound from its April lows “remarkable.”
The timing is certainly remarkable, given that it was on April 22 when CNN Business Executive Editor David Goldman went on an unhinged rant about the supposed destruction President Donald Trump was supposedly unleashing on the stock market. “Trump’s stock market is throwing off some jaw-dropping statistics. How extraordinary? We’re now making comparisons to the Great Depression,” Goldman spewed, channeling CNBC Mad Money host and “Prophet of Oops” Jim Cramer.

The Democrats, under kind of a volatile and unhinged Rep. Al Green, introduced articles of impeachment in an effort to impeach President Donald Trump for a third time.
Remember, there were two successful impeachments. But of course, they failed to get a conviction in the Senate during Trump’s first term.
And this one was strange because 128 Democrats of the House caucus voted against it. And so, Reps. Al Green and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar and all of these people that were affiliates for “the squad” and the radical fringe couldn’t even get a majority of Democrats.
And you know why that was? Think about it for a reason. One of them was that Sen. Chuck Schumer in the Senate and Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who’s not speaker but she still has the influence on Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, the speaker who voted against the resolution, said, “Wait a minute. You got to remember that if we do this, we’re going to get killed by clips every day during the midterms.”
And those clips are going to show President Barack Obama, in the single year 2016, he dropped 26,000 bombs. And it wasn’t just in Syria. It wasn’t just in Iraq. It wasn’t just in Afghanistan. He dropped them in Libya. He dropped them in Somalia. He dropped them in Yemen.

ACLU, Servant of Fashionable Victims Everywhere and especially Where White People Live.
Immigrants rights’ advocates today filed a new nationwide class-action lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship. The lawsuit is in response to today’s Supreme Court ruling that potentially opens the door for partial enforcement of the executive order.
This new case was filed by the American Civil Liberties Union, ACLU of New Hampshire, ACLU of Maine, ACLU of Massachusetts, Legal Defense Fund, Asian Law Caucus, and Democracy Defenders Fund on behalf of a proposed class of babies subject to the executive order, and their parents.
The same group of organizations filed a similar suit in January 2025 in the same court, on behalf of groups with members whose babies born on U.S. soil will be denied citizenship under the order, including New Hampshire Indonesian Community Support, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), and Make the Road New York. The court issued a ruling protecting members of those organizations, and that case is pending at the First Circuit Court of Appeals, with oral argument set for August 1.

Friday with a blunt takedown of liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s “extreme” dissent in the landmark birthright citizenship case in which the Supreme Court curtailed lower court use of universal injunctions.
“We will not dwell on Justice Jackson’s argument, which is at odds with more than two centuries’ worth of precedent, not to mention the Constitution itself,” wrote Barrett, the court’s second-newest justice, in a jaw-dropping rebuke of her colleague, the newest justice.
“We observe only this: Justice Jackson decries an imperial Executive while embracing an imperial Judiciary.”

A class action lawsuit was filed Thursday against Walmart for firing Black workers with criminal records. The suit follows years of accusations by progressive organizations claiming that Walmart has “shown a pattern of firing qualified Black workers” because of past involvement with the legal system – a practice they say perpetuates “racial and economic inequality”.
Maybe they just don’t want to hire criminals. Can’t say that I blame them.
“Having a record does not define you or your character,” said Marcos Ceniceros, with Warehouse Workers for Justice.

An Argentine federal judge Thursday ordered that the 10 Iranian and Lebanese suspects accused in the deadly 1994 AMIA bombing be tried in absentia, allowing the case to move forward after decades of legal stagnation.
The complaint, filed by the families of the victims of the bombing, asked Federal Judge Daniel Rafecas to apply Argentina’s new “trial in absentia” law in the AMIA case, an attack on a Jewish community center that left 85 people dead and 300 injured in what remains the deadliest terrorist attack on Argentine soil.
The request was submitted by attorney Tomás Farini Duggan on behalf of the families of victims Luis Czyzewski and Mario Averbuch.
Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.
