The Other McCain delves into reality.
More effective law enforcement meant more criminals going to prison, and it wasn’t innocent people who were getting locked up. The “social justice” crowd engages in deliberate deception about the factors in so-called “mass incarceration,” and they do so for two reasons: Money and politics. It is little appreciated how many tens of millions of dollars annually are poured into the coffers of “social justice” groups by gigantic tax-exempt foundations. That money goes to hire an army of researchers, writers and publicists who promote these misleading narratives that, in turn, are amplified by Democratic Party politicians and activists trying to win elections. All of these people have incentives to maintain the belief that statistical disparities in crime are the products of “systemic racism” — it’s their job, it’s what pays their bills — and will respond to any pushback by accusing their opponents of racism. Because most journalists are sympathetic to the political objectives of these activists, the public is presented with a distorted picture of crime and law enforcement, particularly as it pertains to the black community.

It was Bertrand Russell, in a 1928 essay, who captured a central truth about the enduring power of the Puritan ethic in American life.
“The career of Puritanism has been curious,” he wrote. “It held brief power in England in the seventeenth century, but so disgusted the mass of ordinary citizens that they have never again allowed it to control the Government. The Puritans, persecuted in England, colonized New England, and subsequently the Middle West. The American Civil War was a continuation of the English Civil War, the Southern States having been mainly colonized by opponents of the Puritans. But unlike the English Civil War, it led to a permanent victory of the Puritan Party. The result is that the greatest Power in the world is controlled by men who inherit the outlook of Cromwell’s Ironsides.”

Radicalism, primarily a hobby of upper class white people, requires a steady supply of victims whose stories they can inhale, emote, appropriate and polish up into a bloody revolution. The less exotic the victims, the more likely they are to be replaced. Upwardly mobile successful groups make the least appealing victims. That’s what happened to the Jews. And now it’s happening to gay men. Asians are in even bigger trouble on the victimhood front.
An ideal victim is in a perpetual state of socioeconomic misery and brewing with violence. The trick is fighting to liberate them while keeping them in that same state, available for weekly revolutions and sad sack stories to be consumed by suburban woke ladies at book clubs.
Revolution is about money and power for a select few, but for the dulled denizens of a society that has long since blurred fact and fiction, reality and ideology, the performance is the thing. Political metafictional narratives distill a police shooting into books, movies, and an entire culture which being both real and fiction are more compelling than either fiction or the real world.

An Austrian doctor named Lisa-Maria Kellermayr was recently found dead, and the coroner ruled her death a suicide. She left one or more suicide notes, but the authorities declined to divulge their contents. Dr. Kellermayr vigorously promoted mandatory experimental mRNA treatments to mitigate the effects of infection with the Wuhan Coronavirus. She said she had received many death threats as a result of her advocacy, and the authorities identify the treatment of her as contributing to her suicide.
Our Hungarian correspondent László sends the following essay about the death of Lisa-Maria Kellermayr and its exploitation by the architects of the Austrian branch of the New World Order.

The following opinion piece was written by an alleged Muslim “reformer” in Sweden.
In my experience, Muslim reformers and “moderate” Muslims usually play a carefully crafted role in the Civilization Jihad. Their job is to (1) make it more difficult for the kuffar to resist Islamization by showcasing a “moderate” form of Islam, which of course has close to 0% support from their fellow believers; and (2) divert the attention of the kuffar away from Islam’s “sabotaging its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions.”
If Akbar Abdul Rasul were really what he claims to be — a reformer who wants to reinterpret Islamic scripture and convince Muslims to welcome homosexuals publicly — he would be subject to mass condemnation as a blasphemer. He would have received a death fatwa. His house would be bombed. He would be unable to walk the streets for fear of assassination.
The fact that he is still alive and proselytizing for his “reforms” shows that the Ummah understands his true mission and accepts its utility.

The American Prairie (AP), a conservation project in Montana, has quietly scooped up more than 450,000 acres of land with the help of its billionaire donors and the federal government.
The little-known project aims to create the largest “fully functioning ecosystem” in the continental U.S. by stitching together about 3.2 million acres of private and public lands, according to the American Prairie Foundation, which founded the reserve more than 20 years ago. The group has recorded 34 transactions spanning roughly 453,188 acres of land throughout central Montana — much of which were once used for farming and grazing — since 2004 and continues to aggressively expand.
…
Gov. Greg Gianforte and a series of state agency heads penned letters to BLM late last year urging the agency not to approve the request. Montana Department of Agriculture Director Christy Clark said the plan would remove “large chunks of land from production agriculture,” likely decrease agricultural production revenue and harm support industries in the area like machinery sales and ranch laborers.
“It’s just flatly illegal,” Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen told Fox News Digital in an interview. “This is federal land that is specifically — by the Taylor Grazing Act, by federal law — set aside for livestock grazing. Bison are not livestock, even under federal law.”

The Education Department vastly underestimated the cost of the federal student loan program and will likely lose $197 billion on loans it issued over the past 25 years, according to a Government Accountability Report released on Friday.
The federal watchdog said that from 1997 to 2021, the department estimated the student loan program would generate about $114 billion, when in fact it was actually losing billions because of revised assumptions about borrowers and repayments, pandemic-related policy changes that affected the program and the expansion of a popular plan that tied repayments to a borrower’s income.
The department’s calculations were off by roughly $311 billion.

Surely they agree with her in hating Trump and anybody who ever got within fifty feet of Trump.
Californians have contributed more to Republican Rep. Liz Cheney than donors from any other state, including her Wyoming home, as the outspoken Trump critic faces an increasingly perilous reelection bid.
Many California donors, including Hollywood and Silicon Valley moguls, vehemently disagree with most of Cheney’s policies but applaud her fight against former President Trump’s false claim that he won the 2020 election.
The enemy of my enemy is my bitch.
The clinical psychologist from La Cañada Flintridge supports a handful of other out-of-state candidates, but Cheney is the sole Republican. “She’s sacrificing her own political career for the benefit of honesty and justice in this country,” said Wasserman, 72.
Not to mention a lucrative MSNBC gig and eventual book deal.

As a tenured law professor at Stanford University, Pamela Karlan earned $1 million a year. We now know that she stayed on the Stanford payroll, at that same impressive salary, during the entire 17 months she served as the Justice Department’s principal deputy assistant attorney general for civil rights.
Karlan left her DOJ post on July 1, just one day before the department delivered documents to the American Accountability Foundation under a Freedom of Information Act request that revealed her unorthodox and ethically suspect arrangement with the Biden administration.
Karlan is a radical leftist. As a political appointee at DOJ, she threatened to sue the Arizona Senate over its audit of the 2020 election in Maricopa County, absurdly claiming that such an audit violated the Voting Rights Act. She was also behind DOJ’s latest lawsuit against Arizona for trying to verify the citizenship of its voters.

There’s a weightlifting joke made famous by eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman: “Everybody wants to be a bodybuilder, but nobody wants to lift no heavy-*ss weights.”
I thought of that while reading Yoram Hazony’s “Escaping Liberal Democracy,” which is full of amateur gym-bro wisdom about how America should get back in shape. But he seems to have skipped the hard work of lifting (and reading) the most important heavy books. Now, I don’t mean to suggest that one has to be an intellectual to see how our country has grown increasingly decrepit; nor am I defending credentialism. One should, however, at least be familiar with the key historical developments and major arguments about the founding and its critics before presuming to tell Americans how we should regain our political vigor.

No one can know what the robot historians will call this age, but a fairly good guess is they will call it the age of outrage. Everything is driven by outrage. Either it is mentally unstable people outraged over the normal operation of the world or it the mentally unstable trying to get attention by outraging normal people. Outrage is the fuel that drives public discourse and politics in this age.
Outage is like crystal meth for some people. Once they get a hit, they can think of nothing else but the next hit. Before long they are in one of the many intensely on-line subcultures, getting outraged with the other addicts. They cultivate their own outrage and share outrage with others. Who they are is entirely defined within the outrage culture of their new lifestyle. They are outrage junkies.

The Inflation Reduction Act would provide billions for Americans to modernize their homes. It’s a way to encourage mass climate action.
No, it doesn’t. What it does is say to a certain class of American taxpayers ‘Of the money that we would ordinarily confiscate from you this time of year, we’ll refrain from doing so if you’ll agree to spend it on certain politically-favored boondoggles.’ Does that mean that the government will therefore not spend the money that it otherwise would be taking from you? By no means! They’ll still spend as furiously as they can; they’ll just borrow it or steal it from people that it doesn’t like (‘the rich’).

Bowser is asking that the DC Armory be used as a processing center and DC National Guard resources be used to help field migrants as they arrive by bus.

They’ve been trying to convict Trump of something for a long long time. So far, no dice. But the thrust of the January 6th hearings was to lay the ground for conviction of a crime later on through the court system. Failing that, the secondary goal was to discredit him so that he either will not run in 2024 or if he does he will do poorly.
It the same technique that was successful with Netanyahu in Israel in 2021, although he appears to be making a comeback because the charges were so obviously bogus when the trial played out.

Ann Coulter lays it on the line.
I see the pro-abortion crowd is still bragging about their “10-year-old rape victim,” lamenting that the poor kid had to travel all the way from Ohio to Indiana to get the abortion. They make it sound like a trek from Iran to Iraq in the 13th century.
I don’t expect coastal liberals to know this, but Ohio is next to Indiana. The drive from the child’s home in Columbus, Ohio, to the abortionist in Indianapolis takes 2.5 hours. The cost of the gas was probably a greater trauma for the family than the trip.
But as long as they’re going to keep talking about how hard it is to get an abortion in Ohio, I’m going to keep talking about how hard it is to assimilate the third world to first-world norms about women and children.
