A professor at Yale University has made an exam optional to allow his students to cope with their psychological devastation from Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential election.
This tells you everything you need to know about modern college life in general and Yale in particular. This wasn’t a Fashionable Studies course — this was basic economics.
The value of a Yale degree just plummeted.

Angry mobs in West Coast cities took to the streets early Wednesday morning to protest the outcome of the presidential election, calling for the impeachment of President-Elect Donald Trump.
As is traditional, all of the violence comes from the Left.
“Impeach Trump! Impeach Trump,” shouted protesters in Portland, Oregon after it became clear Trump had defeated rival Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a huge upset that shocked markets and the media.
For what? They don’t say. I doubt that any of them know what ‘impeach’ means, anyway.
In Oakland, Calif., protesters smashed windows and set tipped over trash cans on fire in the middle of the street and some of them yelling “No KKK!”
Thereby confirming California’s status as a Third World Failed State.

Enrique Zamarripa, the father of slain officer Patrick Zamarripa, filed a lawsuit Monday against BLM activist Rashad Turner and George Soros, among others, reports the Star-Telegram.
The 43-page lawsuit seeks up to $550 million in damages and alleges that organizers of Black Lives Matter caused a “War on Police.”
“While Defendant Black Lives Matter claims to combat anti-black racism. The movement has in fact incited and committed further violence, severe bodily injury and death against police officers of all races and ethnicities, Jews, and Caucasians. Defendant Black Lives Matter is in fact a violent and revolutionary criminal gang,” the lawsuit reads.

The real problem, of course, is the mismatch in power in these Degenerate Modern Times between a member of a royal family and the Drive-By Media. In the Good Old Days (and, probably, in the Arab world today), such people had minions, henchmen, and goons, and a quiet word would lead to the offending ink-stained wretch getting the snot beat out of him in an alley somewhere, which would serve as a reminder to the rest to mind their manners.
But that was yesterday, and yesterday’s gone….

Almost a century and a half after Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox, with 620,000 young Americans dead in the war to make men free, the longed-for post-racial America seemed to have arrived.
Vain hope. Obama drove the races apart, reversing some of the progress that so many earnest civil rights supporters had won, some even at the cost of their lives. Instead of uniting the country, Obama divided it almost to the point of fracture, pitting group against group with a self-righteous certitude that he alone could see the right as God gives us to see the right, and that all who disagreed with him deserved withering scorn. Unlike the Era of Good Feelings that James Madison bequeathed to the country when he left the White House, Obama has already ushered in the Era of Ill Feelings, fanning every low, intolerant, and ignorant impulse in the American heart. Whether history will judge that his reversal of racial progress and the divisiveness he has inflamed make him the worst of our presidents we can’t yet know. But it is worth looking back to ask what made him so overbearing, so contemptuous of the spirit of our Constitution, and so dismissive of the idea of American exceptionalism that he pretended to embrace in 2004.

Political junkies will recall with a giggle the less than distinguished career of Cynthia McKinney, the six-term congressperson from Georgia who was an embarrassment even to far lefties who are usually immune to embarrassment. (In fact, when she returned to the House in 2005 after having been defeated for re-election in the Democratic primary in 2002, the Democratic House leadership refused to restore her committee seniority. She was defeated again in the Democratic primary in 2006.) Among other things, McKinney was a 9/11 “truther,” and also speculated that the CIA had a role in the killing of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Well now she’s Doctor Cynthia McKinney, Ph.D, having completed her Ph.D in “leadership and change” at Antioch University. Her dissertation is, naturally, on the greatness of Hugo Chavez. Really, I’m not making this up.
Antioch University is a real piece of work:
Antioch University uses the system of narrative evaluation as a substitute to the conventional grading system of A-F letter grades. Additionally, Antioch University houses two institution-wide programs, the Ph.D. in Leadership and Change and Antioch Education Abroad.

While serving as secretary of state, the White House informed current presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that a two-terabyte hard drive full of records from her husband’s presidency were missing from the National Archives.
My, how convenient.
“They last can account for the drive on January 30; they discovered it was missing on March 24 (NARA leadership found out later). They believe it was stolen,” Meltzer wrote to Messina, which was forwarded to Clinton aides.
“Two terabytes is a very very large amount of data; the drive may contain a wide range of memos, emails, and other electronic documents from the Clinton White House,” Meltzer wrote.

Amazon has taken on a stalled wind farm project in Ohio to power its data centres because, as we all know, intermittent and flaky power supplies dependent entirely on the randomness of the weather are just what mission-critical data centres need.
Indeed.

On a recent Tuesday night, I attended the parents’ open house at my daughters’ school, a Taft-era brick building in New Haven, Connecticut, which serves four hundred and fifty children, in grades kindergarten through eighth. I have three daughters there, so I had to make the rounds to each of their homerooms. When I got to my third grader’s classroom, I sat at her desk and noticed, taped to the top of the desk’s writing surface, a laminated strip of paper displaying the multiplication tables up to 9×9, the alphabet in print, and, with little arrows showing the strokes needed to make the letters, the alphabet in cursive.
The laminated papers with cursive-writing instructions, taped to every one of the tyke-size school desks with the sweeping attached arms, were sad and beautiful at once, in the special way of obsolete educational technology, like the Apple IIe, or the No. 2 pencil itself. For me, a writer of strong fuddy-duddy credentials, the sad dramatic irony really was too much. You see, cursive isn’t being taught in my daughters’ school anymore, and hasn’t been for at least six years, as long as I’ve had children in the public schools. Who would tell the cursive that it was no longer needed?

Clinton frequently has expected free, luxurious private jet travel during his post-presidential life. Clinton, his wife and daughter have artfully secured free air travel and luxurious accommodations since they left the White House. It’s an effective way to accept gifts of great value without declaring them for the Clinton Foundation.
“It’s highly illegal and it’s likely that the owners of these aircraft took tax deductions as a gift to the Clinton Foundation,” Charles Ortel, a Wall Street analyst and critic of the Clinton Foundation, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.

It’s hard to generalize about Hillary Clinton’s email situation except that she tried to afford herself an extraordinary privilege as a high-ranking official, and then caused for herself exactly the problems (and worse) that she presumably was trying to avoid.

Fedorchak cited cultural surveys conducted before the pipeline received approval showing 91 of the 149 eligible sites contained stone features considered sacred to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
The pipeline, which is slated to shuttle more than 500,000 barrels of Bakken oil from North Dakota to Illinois, was rerouted and modified to avoid all 91 of those areas, and all but nine of the other potentially eligible sites.

Mobs of teenagers committed four violent robberies on the streets of Northwest, D.C., in affluent neighborhoods that are relatively crime free Monday night. Descriptions of most of the assailants remain vague, however one victim described one of her attackers as a roughly 18-year-old black female, standing roughly five feet five, thin and with black hair, according to The Washington Post.
Another victim of one of the mob robberies described a six feet tall male in their late teens, wearing a ski mask. It is unclear if the robberies are related, but the location and timing of the attacks make it possible.
In their profile of the robbery spree, The Washington Post details each incident but declines to discuss descriptions of the suspects until the end of the story.

According to a Fox News poll conducted last week, 67 percent of likely voters do not think Hillary Clinton is “honest and trustworthy.” That is five percentage points more than said the same thing about Donald Trump—an amazing accomplishment, since the blowhard billionaire can barely open his mouth without lying.
Clinton’s credibility with voters may be even weaker than that poll suggests, since it was completed before FBI Director James Comey disclosed that agents had stumbled across another trove of emails that crossed the unsecured private server she improperly used as secretary of state. Whether or not the FBI finds any previously unidentified messages containing classified material, the discovery reminded everyone of Clinton’s tendency to pile lie upon lie instead of coming clean about her mistakes.

Every four years, the Republican Party choose a man to be labeled the next Hitler by liberals. Having been born during the presidency of Eisenhower (who opposed Communism and was therefore Hitler, in the liberal imagination) and having lived through the presidencies of five other Republican presidents, I can tell you that at least four of those were demonized as latter-day Hitlers by liberals. The sole exception was Gerald Ford, whom liberals considered too stupid and incompetent to be Hitler.
…
Donald Trump is an authoritarian — the next Hitler — according to liberals like Jonathan Chait. Therefore, if Trump is inaugurated as president next January, it will be only a matter of time because liberal journalists are rounded up, loaded onto railroad cattle-cars, and shipped to death camps in Idaho. Jonathan Chait considers this an argument for voting against Donald Trump. But some might see it the other way.

David Cole adds another brick to the wall.
The “social justice” left is following in some very big jackboot footsteps in its pursuit of a society in which “allowable” speech is determined by race, ethnicity, or ancestry. The two most memorable racial states of the 20th century—Nazi Germany and apartheid South Africa—had a myriad of rules and regulations, covering pretty much all aspects of human activity, in which what citizens were allowed to do was based upon looks and bloodline. Under apartheid, the sheer number of recognized racial and ethnic classifications was ridiculous, and each grouping brought with it a different level of approved behaviors and actions.
In theory, leftists ought to be against that type of nonsense. But of course, we all know that’s not the case. Leftists are pursuing a “new, improved” racial state in the West, in the name of revenge. Whites “have it coming” to lose rights because in past centuries people who had skin that is somewhat light created racial states that oppressed people with skin that is a bit darker, so of course the way to remedy that—decades, indeed centuries, after the fact—is to take people whose skin resembles the skin of oppressors long dead and say, “Hah, how do you like it? This’ll learn ya!” And people whose skin resembles the skin of those oppressed in centuries past will gain self-esteem from the racial vengeance and stay in school, stop killing each other in gangs, go to college, and become doctors and rocket scientists, and one day we’ll cure cancer and have colonies on Mars. But the first step to living tumor-free in outer space is regulating the speech of white people.

What if Hillary wins? We don’t have to think about what to do if we win. If we win, we will wear Hawaiian shirts every day and carry around our own personal beer stein that says “#MAGA.” It’ll be like when Vince Neil regained control of Mötley Crüe: The natural symbiosis of nature has been restored and we can all get back to work. I’m not sure I’ll talk about politics ever again. If we lose, however, it’s another story entirely.
…
So here is how we’re going to lose: We are going to fight even harder to get this country back and we are going to fight dirty. When they go low, we are going to go lower. If they want to make it personal and ignore the facts, we’re happy to dive into the muck. The majority of the GOP refuse to do this and this is why they just became extinct. When Rush Limbaugh indicated that Sandra Fluke might be a slut for demanding birth control from a Catholic institution, conservatives were outraged he swore. Fuck them. We swear now.

The date of the national election continues to slip as the country slides toward violent political confrontation. It looks like President Joseph Kabila will remain president past December 19, the day he is supposed to step down and turn the office over to a duly elected successor. One opposition group agreed to let the election slip to April 2016. However, some of Kabila’s supporters are now insisting on a November 2018 date. One national election officials has mentioned December 2018. The UN, African Union (AU) and donor countries are encouraging Kabila’s government and the political opposition “to continue to pursue inclusive political dialogue.” That’s diplo-speak for keep talking instead of fighting. The government put down the September demonstrations in the capital, Kinshasa, but sporadic demonstrations and strikes continue. The demonstration of September 19 did turn violent. That’s the day Congo’s Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) failed to initiate the presidential election process required by the constitution. Alas, CENI wasn’t independent. The UN now estimates that 53 people were killed and over 100 wounded on September 19. The Congolese political opposition is a hodge-podge and anything but united, but that reflects the Congo. It is a fractured country. The political opposition begins with the Union for Democracy and Social Progress (UDPS) which has always opposed Kabila. It now includes several former Kabila supporters in the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC) and the G7 (group of seven) small parties that left Kabila’s party in 2015. Despite the opposition’s divisions, many Congolese are angry with Kabila’s complete disregard of the constitution. Militants in the political parties are demanding action. All of the big parties have “militant wings” that could quickly become militias. In fact, some of them were armed militias in the Great Congo War (1998-2003).

“My contention is that this particular social-justice-warrior-left is producing the alt-right by virtue of its insanity. And because it’s doing all these things that manifest to the world, the alt-right is just eating this stuff alive,” Rectenwald told the Washington Square News last Monday. “That’s why I adopted Nietzsche as the icon for the @antipcnyuprof and that’s why I said ‘anti-pc.’ Frankly, I’m not really anti-pc. My contention is that the trigger warning, safe spaces and bias hotline reporting is not politically correct. It is insane. This stuff is producing a culture of hyper-vigilance, self-surveillance and panopticism.”
The paper published his critics’ response on Wednesday from a group of students and professors, including two deans, calling themselves the “Liberal Studies Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Working Group.”
Can’t get much more PC than that. Do you suppose they have a Naming Standards document, like some programming shops do?

Upon publication of the letter Rectenwald was summoned to a meeting with school officials. The confab was like the Salem Witch trials, he recalled. “They claimed they were worried about me and a couple people had expressed concern about my mental health.”
NYU spokesman Matt Nagel denied the suspension was related to his Twitter account but refused to give an alternative explanation.

Many conservatives suspect that Google, along with Facebook and other new media giants, are biased in favor of the left. The suspicion is logical. The class that operates these outlets can be viewed as a younger version of the class that operates the liberal mainstream media. Why expect different from it?
I don’t deal with Facebook, but I use Google for searches. It seems to me that it’s easier to find left-liberal content than conservative content in typical searches.
Now, there’s a study that confirms my impression and links the phenomenon to political bias by Google. The study is by SEO Competitive Analysis company CanIRank.
It finds that top search results are almost 40 percent more likely to contain pages with a “Left” or “Far Left” slant than they are to contain pages from the right. Searchers are 65 percent more likely to encounter liberal search results than conservative search results among the five first returns to their inquiry.
Moreover, 16 percent of political keywords contain no right-leaning pages at all within the first page of results.
My, what a surprise. Aren’t you surprised? I’m sure surprised.

In an election season that has been full of surprises, let’s hope the electorate understands that there is at least one thing of which it can be certain: A Hillary Clinton presidency will be built, from the ground up, on self-dealing, crony favors, and an utter disregard for the law.
This isn’t a guess. It is spelled out, in black and white, in the latest bombshell revelation from WikiLeaks. It comes in the form of a memo written in 2011 by longtime Clinton errand boy Doug Band, who for years worked simultaneously at the Clinton Foundation and at the head of his lucrative consulting business, Teneo.

Today we get another two-fer: a fresh installment of the Civil War on the Left series, and a Green Weenie Award. Up in Washington state, there’s a revenue-neutral carbon tax initiative on the ballot, which would impose a $15 a ton carbon tax (or about 15 cents per gallon of gas), rising eventually over the years to $100 a ton, or $1 added to the cost of a gallon of gas. To offset this, the initiative proposes to reduce the state’s sales tax and business taxes—just as proponents of a revenue neutral carbon tax, including Al Gore, have long advocated.
So guess who’s against the initiative? Why, environmentalists of course! Why? Because the proposal doesn’t result in a net tax increase or spend new funds for “environmental justice.”

Yet my children’s experience of school in America is in some ways as indifferent as their swimming classes are good, for the country’s elementary schools seem strangely averse to teaching children much stuff. According to the OECD’s latest international education rankings, American children are rated average at reading, below average at science, and poor at maths, at which they rank 27th out of 34 developed countries. At 15, children in Massachusetts, where education standards are higher than in most states, are so far behind their counterparts in Shanghai at maths that it would take them more than two years of regular education to catch up.
This is not for lack of investment. America spends more on educating its children than all but a handful of rich countries. Nor is it due to high levels of inequality: the proportion of American children coming from under-privileged backgrounds is about par for the OECD. A better reason, in my snapshot experience of American schooling, is a frustrating lack of intellectual ambition for children to match the sporting ambition that is so excellently drummed into them in our local swimming pool and elsewhere.

Schoolyard bullying: it’s never okay. Unless, of course, the victim is the offspring of a non-voter. Then the kid probably deserves it—or should at least blame his dad for not caring enough about politics.

Sir Ronald Sanders, the Ambassador of Antigua and Barbuda to the United states, has called upon Harvard University to pay reparations to Antiguans.
Roughly two centuries ago, a man named Isaac Royall, Jr. left land in his will for Harvard to endow a professorship of law, physics, or anatomy. Harvard chose to use this endowment to create a professorship of law which eventually became the foundation for Harvard’s law school.
The Harvard Crimson reports that the “The Royalls were a prominent slave-owning family in the small Caribbean country in the early 18th century” and that Royall, Jr.’s wealth “derived from the Massachusetts farms and a sugar plantation in Antigua he had inherited from his father—properties that relied on and profited from slave labor.
Ambassador Sanders sent a letter to Harvard’s university president last week claiming that some Antiguans are descendants of slaves owned by the Royall family.

The primary reason Washington operators can dictate the terms of engagement with Washington journalists is that the true insiders are few and the journalists are many. In medium-sized towns, the power dynamic is reversed, as the number of journalists is very small and sources are many. This means journalists need not ingratiate themselves in the same way to get a story. Until the Washington press corps is reduced by 90 percent—which won’t happen in our lifetimes—the mortifying dance we see in the Podesta emails will continue.

Steve Sailer peeks behind the curtain.
Strikingly, this vast conspiracy to dilute the sovereignty of American voters by inviting in ringers from abroad is not covered up, nor even excused as aggressive-but-legal political hardball.
Instead, the dilution of the voting power of American citizens is praised lavishly as representing the highest value of “who we are as Americans.”
To protest, or even to notice, the open machinations to adulterate the value of your vote by importing millions of foreigners to increase the numbers of votes cast for the Democrats brands you as a deplorable.

Late Monday Project Veritas, a conservative activist organization, dropped a series of videos exposing the underhanded tactics of liberal political operatives, which has already has led to people losing their jobs. “Tonight, a rare look inside the dark side of politics,” reported Fox News’ Bret Baier Tuesday on Special Report, “A conservative group is shining some light on how pro-Hillary Clinton forces at least plotted to circumvent election law and disrupt events for Donald Trump often inciting violence.” In obvious spite of these actual bombshells, all of the “Big Three” networks blacked out the revelations.
Media bias? What media bias?

An activist who bragged about disrupting multiple Donald Trump campaign events in a recent Project Veritas video was on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign payroll, a search of Federal Election Commission (FEC) records reveals.
In a Veritas video released Monday, filmmaker and provocateur James O’Keefe recounts meeting activist Zulema Rodriguez at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. In the video, Rodriguez takes credit for violent protests in Chicago that forced Trump to cancel a March rally.

Project Include drops Y Combinator as Peter Thiel pledges $1.25m to Trump
Tech billionaire Peter Thiel’s reported $1.25m contribution to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign has prompted a high-profile Silicon Valley organization to cut ties with a startup incubator backed by the Republican donor.
Ellen Pao, a former Reddit executive and vocal advocate for diversity in tech, has announced that her group Project Include is ending its relationship with Y Combinator, the well-known startup “accelerator” where Thiel is a part-time partner.
“Thiel’s actions are in direct conflict with our values at Project Include,” Pao wrote on Monday, referring to the not-for-profit group that she and a group of prominent Silicon Valley women formed earlier this year to push for “diversity and inclusion solutions in the tech industry”.
“Because of his continued connection to YC [Y Combinator], we are compelled to break off our relationship with YC. We hope this situation changes, and that we are both willing to move forward together in the future. Today it is clear to us that our values are not aligned,” Pao continued.
So because of his personal political beliefs, they cut off relations with an uninvolved third party. For the Left, the personal is always political. They won’t be happy until he’s shunned by everybody in Silicon Valley.
You cross the Crust, they punish you.
