The Trump administration deported more than 200 people who it claims are members of Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan prison gang, to El Salvador this weekend, multiple members of the administration said on social media on Sunday.
It was not immediately clear if the deportations happened before or after a federal judge in D.C. on Saturday issued an emergency order that told the administration to stop using wartime powers to deport people, and turn around any planes already in the air.
The deportations to El Salvador also included 2 alleged leaders of the MS-13 gang, which has its origins in El Salvador, and 21 other members of the gang, according to posts from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and from El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele.
Looks like Trump is no longer impressed with Democrat judges.

On a quest to find loved ones who’ve gone missing in Mexico’s years-long plague of gang-driven disappearances, a group of volunteers has discovered a ghastly, bone-strewn “extermination camp” in a rural village near Guadalajara, complete with cremation ovens. Their shock was compounded by the knowledge that police first learned about the site months ago but did little to investigate it. Some witnesses say the site was used to hold men who were abducted with the intent to force them into joining a criminal cartel — and to teach torture techniques.
The first of an unknown quantity of human remains have yet to be identified, but the site near the village of La Estanzuela holds at least 700 personal items, including some that appear have belonged to women and children — such as a blue summer dress, a small pink backpack and high-heel shoes, the New York Times reports. Those and other shoes may offer one of the best indications of the potential number of people killed and/or processed at the site: There are hundreds of them.

Apparently, confident administrators assumed that the brand of Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and other elite universities was so precious to the nation’s elite movers and shakers that they could always do almost anything they wished.

Since 2016, after which France experienced a surge in mass migration, the figure is up by a whopping 86 per cent.
44 per cent of victims were located in the Paris region, with women being the victims on 91 per cent of occasions, with 75 per cent of victims being under the age of 30 and 36 per cent of those being minors.
“It should be noted that this data comes at the same time that France’s migration population has exploded,” reports Remix News.
“With 63 percent of those arrested for sexual assault and 92 percent for petty theft in public transport being foreigners, according to data from 2019. Similar data is seen in Germany, where 59 percent of all sexual assaults on German trains are attributed to foreigners, with sexual crimes doubling since 2019.”
Be careful not to step in the diversity. It’s impossible to get that stuff off of your shoes.

Last week, President Donald Trump began keeping yet another of his promises—this time, to deport foreign nationals who support terrorism.
On Wednesday, the U.S. State Department “revoked the first visa of an alien who was previously cited for criminal behavior in connection with Hamas-supporting disruptions,” a department official told Fox News. “This individual was a university student. ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] will proceed with removing this person from the country.”
As we’ve explained previously, federal law allows both the denial of admission to, and the deportation of, foreign nationals who support terrorism. Under the Immigration and Nationality Act, “Any alien—who endorses or espouses terrorist activity or persuades others to endorse or espouse terrorist activity or support a terrorist organization … is inadmissible.”
If a student visa applicant is known to “endorse or espouse” terrorism, the consular officer interviewing him at a U.S. Embassy or consulate overseas should deny him a visa.
But what if a foreign student already obtained a visa, and it later comes to light that he espoused or endorsed terrorism? For example, in the case of a foreign student on a college campus protesting in favor of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attack in Israel. In that case, the State Department can revoke his visa. That means that the Department of Homeland Security can then pursue his removal because, under the Immigration and Nationality Act, he would be deportable for the same reasons the visa was canceled. It also means he can’t return to the U.S. without getting a new visa, which would be very hard, given the revocation on file.

American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten is known primarily for two things: screaming into microphones at political rallies and making the teacher’s union an extension of the Democratic Party. However, Weingarten had an unintended substantive moment when she changed her earlier position on the elimination of the Education Department. Weingarten previously shrugged off the elimination of the department as not a big deal for education. Recently, she returned to her irate default in denouncing the elimination. The reason, however, was telling.
After Trump was reelected in November, Weingarten said that the elimination was not a big deal and that teachers had originally opposed the creation of the department: “I mean, my members don’t really care about whether they have a bureaucracy of the Department of Education or not. In fact, Al Shanker and the [American Federation of Teachers] in the 1970s were opposed to its creation.”

The NAEP is a nationwide standardized test of reading and math proficiency. The 2024 scores are out, and they’re not good.
Most headlines have said something like New NAEP Scores Dash Hope Of Post-COVID Learning Recovery, which seems like a fair assessment.
I feel bad about this, because during lockdowns I argued that kids’ educational outcomes don’t suffer long-term from missing a year or two of school. Re-reading the post, I still think my arguments make sense.

I hate daylight savings time. The main reason is every year it means a week where it feels like I am late for everything, like I overslept by an hour. As a person who likes to get an early start, this is the worst feeling in the world. Sure, I get that wonderful vibe in the autumn where it feels like I gained an hour, but it is not a trade-off I favor. The spring forward misery far outweighs the fallback benefit that is long forgotten by the time spring arrives.

We are hiring.
We received over 2,500 job applications. Fewer than 100 filled a form with open-ended questions. About 15 went on to complete a reasonably simple real-world challenge. We are a nation with the cheapest internet and a billion internet users. Where are all the self-directed learners? The eclectic ekalavyas?
We are 25 years into the MOOC era. We have near unlimited access to the world’s best teachers on YouTube, and yet our education system isn’t producing independent thinkers. How is this possible?
It struck me that our education system is not just “useless” it is actively hurting all learners. We keep devising ways and means to keep them in artificial bubbles where all learning is boiled down to information transfer.
Like wild animals raised too long in captivity, our students have lost crucial survival skills for the real world. Our education system isn’t just failing them — it’s domesticating them into helplessness, training them for a life of being spoon-fed.

We provide evidence that local preferences for neighborhood characteristics play an important role in shaping the political economy of residential land-use regulations and their distributional consequences. We leverage a land-use regulation reform in Houston, TX that reduced the minimum lot size-permitting denser single-family housing-while allowing incumbent property owners on individual city blocks to opt out of the change and adopt higher alternative minimum lot sizes. Initially wealthier, whiter neighborhoods were more likely to opt out and adopt higher minimum lot sizes after the reform. Supply of denser housing increased in areas that did not opt out. We develop a model where incumbents set minimum lot size. Incumbents trade off potential gains from redevelopment and local spillovers from housing density. The local nature of block-level regulatory decisions allows us to distinguish between preferences for neighborhood density and alternative political economy motives for regulation. Model estimates reveal large, negative local externalities from density that vary across incumbent socioeconomic groups. Our results suggest that local control can tailor regulation to heterogeneous incumbent preferences, possibly making reform more politically feasible. However, doing so will likely limit supply in areas where housing demand is the highest.

Mr. Renn’s schema is straightforward. Modern American history, he argues, can be divided into three epochs when it comes to the status of Christianity. In “positive world,” between 1964 and 1994, being a Christian in America generally enhanced one’s social status. It was a good thing to be known as a churchgoer, and “Christian moral norms” were the basic norms of the broader American culture. Then, in “neutral world,” which lasted roughly until 2014 — Mr. Renn acknowledges the dates are imprecise — Christianity no longer had a privileged status, but it was seen as one of many valid options in a pluralist public square.
About a decade ago, around the time that the Supreme Court’s ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges made same-sex marriage legal nationwide, Mr. Renn says the United States became “negative world.” Being a Christian, especially in high-status domains, is a social negative, he argues, and holding to traditional Christian moral views, particularly related to sex and gender, is seen as “a threat to the public good and new public moral order.”

When I was in high school, students divided into two camps: those who “got” math and those who believed they simply weren’t “math people.”
I was one of the “got” math people who spent countless hours doing trigonometry and eventually doing AP Calculus where I was doing derivatives and all sorts of ‘fancy’ math. Deep down, I knew what this was really about – it wasn’t about practical skills but about signaling I was smart, just like the other high-achiever types. It wasn’t about learning. It was just another credential for the college application rat race.
Meanwhile, some of my friends struggled with math not because they lacked ability, but because the content was so disconnected from anything they cared about. When any of us asked the teacher when we’d ever use this stuff, she gave the standard response about college preparation and developing abstract thinking skills.
But looking back now, I realize we were all learning the wrong math – both the students who excelled and those who gave up. It is yet another example of how schools fail teenagers.
The math most useful in real life isn’t calculus or advanced trigonometry – it’s probability and statistics. And yet our education system treats these subjects as afterthoughts, typically confined to a single elective course typically in senior year, if taught at all.
This is backwards.
Exactly so. I suspect that this is reflective of the modern attitude of “everyone must go to colleege”, so by God they’re going to try to prepare for college whether you need it or not, and to Hell with stuff that might be practical for non-college people.

One of the interesting things about the shift in foreign policy initiated by the Trump administration is that it is a break from what has been policy for a century. This sudden lurch into realism is a departure from Wilsonian democracy. Trump wants to center policy on the material interests of the country. Up until now, policy was centered around moral claims about how the world ought to be ordered.
Through the Cold War it was assumed that pragmatism was the rule because of the threat of nuclear annihilation. The better way to view it is that Wilsonian democracy was on a leash for forty years. Once the Cold War ended, it was like a hyperactive dog that got under the fence. The last thirty years has been an explosion of Wilsonian democracy playing catchup for lost time.
Even during the Cold War, American policy makers and politicians had a fondness for moralizing about the world. There were endless debates over the morality of dealing with dictators who happened to be anti-Soviet. This was finally resolved in the 1980’s with the distinction between authoritarian and totalitarian. The former was a temporary compromise, while the later was a forever enemy.

Every major element of the official COVID narrative has been proven false: The origins of the virus, the validity of PCR tests, the suppression of early treatments, the denial of natural immunity, the so-called “safety and effectiveness” of vaccines, and the utility of masks, lockdowns, and vaccine passports. Yet those who questioned any part of it faced unprecedented ostracism and persecution.
The manufactured panic ignored fundamental reality: COVID posed minimal risk to healthy people under 70, but was significantly more dangerous to the elderly and immunocompromised. Rather than focusing resources on protecting vulnerable populations, we destroyed economies, stole childhoods, and enforced measures that made no epidemiological sense. This wasn’t just about control – it was an engineered economic coup, the largest financial consolidation of power in modern history. While small businesses were forcibly closed, Amazon’s profits soared. As working-class neighborhoods struggled, Wall Street celebrated record gains. The laptop class posted about ‘we’re all in this together’ from their home offices while essential workers were forced into what was portrayed as dangerous conditions to deliver their groceries. The same corporations trumpeting their commitment to “equity” through DEI initiatives were destroying economic mobility for the very communities they claimed to champion.

Satellite images obtained last month from western China show the People’s Liberation Army apparently practicing for attacks on U.S. electronic warfare planes and aircraft carriers, according to a private intelligence company.
The company Allsource Analysis stated in a report made public Thursday that a satellite image from the desert in Xinjiang, western China, shows two mockups of what appear to be U.S. E-2 Hawkeye airborne warning and control aircraft.
Other warplanes have been spotted as targets in the past but not the E-2, which is a critical command-and-control aircraft for coordinating aircraft carrier strikes.
Outlines of the carrier-based propeller planes were spotted on the ground along with mockups of two aircraft carrier targets and one warship target.
This comes at a bad time, what with U.S. weapons stocks seriously depleted due to the Democrat adventures in Ukrain.

It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?
Sound familiar?
We have too many Federal laws, and the reason for that is that the Federal government has been trying to micromanage American society since FDR (who when he wasn’t working for the government, dabbled in being a lawyer).
I’m sure I’ve told this story before, but I’ll tell it again: On the first day of my Tax class in law school, the professor walked in carrying a stack of paper about two feet high and set it on his desk. He picked up the top sheet and showed it to us. “This tells you what you have to pay taxes on.” He put his hand on the remainder of the stack. “This tells you how to avoid paying those taxes.” He patted the stack and said, “This is what we teach here.”

In response to stress or other events, our cells can add small chemical flags to genes that may quiet them down or alter their behavior. These changes may help us adapt to stressful environments, although the effects aren’t well understood.
It is these tell-tale chemical flags that Mulligan and her team were looking for in the genes of Syrian families. While lab experiments have shown that animals can pass along epigenetic signatures of stress to future generations, proving the same in people has been nearly impossible.

The migration crisis in Europe has become a lucrative business for human traffickers who operate with total impunity, thanks to the European Union’s lax immigration policies. A clear example is the story of Ely, a Mauritanian who has turned the illegal transportation of migrants into a profitable business with minimal legal risks. His testimony highlights the failure of migration control policies and the ineffectiveness of repatriation agreements between Spain and the countries of origin.
Ely has built a reputation on the Atlantic coast of Mauritania as the “captain” who has completed four crossings to the Canary Islands without casualties or shipwrecks. However, the core issue is not his skill as a navigator but rather the ease with which this business thrives without real consequences for those responsible.
“I better cover myself up well. I don’t want to end up in jail next time,” Ely says in an interview with a Spanish media outlet. However, the reality is that, despite being detained multiple times in the Canary Islands, he has been repeatedly repatriated to Mauritania without significant repercussions. This situation raises a key question: How is it possible that someone actively involved in human trafficking has been sent back time and again without facing serious legal consequences?

An Obama-era housing rule that was terminated by the first Trump administration and revived by the Biden administration has again been canceled. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) said the regulation has led to excessive bureaucracy and created affordability challenges.
Democrats started this shit, they have no grounds to whine about it happening to them. From now on, every Presidential candidate will have in his back pocket a list of his predecessor’s E.O.s to rescind on day 1 of his (or her) administration.
The AFFH rule, introduced by the Obama administration in 2015, implemented reporting requirements for local and state governments as well as public housing agencies that received federal funds from the HUD.
For instance, it required local officials to provide answers to 92 questions on topics such as disparities in housing opportunities, according to a commentary by The Heritage Foundation. Local officials had to report data on issues such as environmental health hazards, which had little to do with affordable housing. Besides that, HUD fund recipients had to ensure that their policies and practices did not promote racial segregation.
“[The AFFH rule was] designed to give unelected, anonymous bureaucrats in Washington the power to pick and choose who your new next-door neighbor will be,” Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) wrote in a 2016 op-ed.
A keystone of the Deep State agenda is being able to second-guess every choice made by every individual in the country (to the extent that they can), and get paid for it.

It is unsettling to learn that the Chinese regime is capable of operating covert police stations in foreign countries to monitor, harass, and control Chinese citizens living abroad—committing considerable resources to focus on those most critical of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
CCP shadow police operations came to light in June 2021, when nonprofit media group ProPublica revealed Beijing’s Operation Fox Hunt program. Initially thought to be some form of Chinese bounty hunter program, the United States and numerous other countries now see it as a global shadow police force. This program, ostensibly aimed at combating corruption, is now viewed as a front for targeting and coercing dissidents and critics of the CCP to return to China. According to the human rights group Safeguard Defenders, these activities are ongoing in more than 50 countries, including the United States, Canada, and several European nations.

The second provides unfettered access to one of our core pleasures without all the pesky little side effects (or at least the ones that crawl and ask for your car keys). The second ensures that other peoples’ pesky little side effects — which are quite expensive and time-consuming, by the way — will pay for your old age.
The result?
A massive free rider problem — the largest in human history. Humanity is about to get a lot older, and as we’ve removed the need to rely on our own offspring, there suddenly aren’t enough offspring. This has an impact not only on public pensions but on private savings as well. If there aren’t enough producers, then you will see (and are seeing) long-term inflation as labor becomes more and more expensive and rare.

A notorious, crime-battered McDonald’s in Brooklyn is going to extreme lengths to defend itself and its patrons — prohibiting anyone who’s under age 20 from entering without a parent and proper identification.
The outlet at Nostrand and Flatbush avenues has long been the site of violence and bloodshed, but an incident last week seems to have been the last straw that prompted the age-and-ID requirement. Nineteen-year-old manager Amber Hussain tells the New York Post that a group of juveniles that swarmed into the restaurant after school assaulted a security guard and shattered a glass door.
The location has prompted a staggering 324 calls to 911 in the last three years alone, but the location has been a crime hot-spot for more than a dozen years. In a notable 2011 incident captured on video, two thugs ambushed an 18-year-old as he entered, shooting him multiple times. The victim himself had five robbery arrests to his credit before narrowly dodging death at Ronald’s crib.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, has predicted that this lawfare will not stop.
“The entire four years of Trump’s presidency, the Left is going to wage lawfare against him,” Cruz told The Daily Signal in an interview at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Thursday.
“You’re going to have Democrat attorneys general who are going to sue the federal government over and over and over again,” the senator predicted. “You’re going to have left-wing activists paid for by George Soros, paid for by leftist billionaires, that are just going to file relentless lawsuits. And they’re going to go seek out friendly judges—they’re going to file these cases in blue states, they’re going to go out and seek left-wing radical judges, and that means the Department of Justice is going to be defending the president day in and day out.”
Soros, a Hungarian American billionaire who has funded most leftist causes, founded the Open Society Foundations, a large nonprofit now run by his son, Alex Soros. Open Society Foundations or its sister nonprofits have funded the American Civil Liberties Union and the Human Rights Campaign, two organizations that have already sued the Trump administration to block its border and gender policies.

Vice President J.D. Vance drew criticism from European leaders and press following his speech last week at the Munich Security Conference in Germany where he openly chastised European authorities over their suppression of free speech.
Now, just days after Vance’s warning to European official about censorship, a woman has been confronted by police and arrested for holding a sign that read “Coercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want” outside of a Scottish abortion clinic.
In his remarks in Munich, Vance gave examples of Germany arresting people criticizing feminism, Sweden arresting individuals for criticizing religion and Scottish police arresting a man for silently praying for his aborted son outside of an abortion clinic.

My friends at the Claremont Institute have provided the intellectual underpinnings for President Trump’s executive order that attempts to end birthright citizenship and replace it with a rule that recalls the ius sanguinis rules of Old Europe.
According to the view advanced by participants in this symposium, including John Eastman, Ed Erler, Michael Anton (since departed for the Department of State’s Office of Policy Planning Staff), and my podcast host, the international woman of mystery Lucretia (yes, that is her official title), not only must a baby be born on American territory to become an American citizen, but the baby’s parents must also be in the country legally. I take them to mean that the parents must be either citizens or legal aliens, such as permanent resident aliens, but they cannot be in the United States illegally or even under short-duration visas, such as for tourists or students. I assume Claremont Institute scholars draw the line at citizens and green card holders because of Eastman’s argument in 2020 that Kamala Harris could not become vice president because she was born to parents who were in the U.S. on student visas.
We are all familiar with the first sentence of the 14th Amendment: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Unfortunately, my friends have misconstrued the phrase “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” in the amendment’s text. To describe their argument fairly, Claremont scholars read the phrase as referring to someone whose parents are already part of the American political community, such as a citizen or permanent resident alien.
I think their reading takes a text with a defined legal meaning at the time of the 14th Amendment’s ratification and reads into it a deeper political theory that it does not bear. I don’t blame Claremont scholars for this—they are trained political theorists, after all. Sometimes, however, Claremont scholars seem to be engaged in a competition to find deeper political theories lurking in places where no one thought they resided. But sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. And in this case, the cigar is just the use of standard common law legal concepts in the interpretation of the constitutional text.

For many years alternative economists and “conspiracy theorists” have argued that, according to the evidence, there has been an organized criminal cabal operating a long running agenda to exploit and eventually destroy western culture. We have suggested that much of this agenda was being funded with our own tax dollar while using government institutions and NGOs as vehicles for social engineering.
In the 20 years since I started work in the liberty movement (or patriot movement), I have seen corruption beyond imagining and it all culminated in 2020-2023 when many of us battled against the imposition of total medical tyranny and mass woke indoctrination. Even after that startling Orwellian period we were still called conspiracy theorists, but public awareness is changing rapidly.
I’ve see enough to know that what is happening today is truly unprecedented. We have entered a crossroads; a time when reality is no longer discarded for the sake of collective comfort and “conspiracy” becomes historic fact. It’s an exciting time to be alive, but also potentially hazardous.

The Delta Airlines flight that flipped over and crashed at Pearson Airport was operated by Endeavor Air, a company that has relentlessly pushed DEI initiatives and bragged about having “unmanned” all-female flights that contained no male staff.
Respondents to the shocking incident noted how Endeavor Air, the Delta subsidiary that operated the flight, was obsessed with DEI initiatives, and produced a feminist girlboss video promoting its all-female flights with a rap song featuring the lyrics “bad girls do it well.”
Other videos linked to the company show other female Endeavor Air flight crew and stewardesses performing choreographed dance routines celebrating the total absence of men.
Correlation doesn’t imply causation, but it’s a good place to start.

I don’t know if lying about this is actionable, but it’s certainly abominable. She freely admits to hiding the fact that she had a long-term lockdown in mind right from the start, and that the “two weeks” thing was just a ploy to get the administration to fall into her trap.
What may be just as bad is this part: “I didn’t have the numbers in front of me yet to make the case for extending it longer, but I had two weeks to get them.” Let’s just start with a conclusion, and cherry-pick the data to fit that conclusion. The consequence – long-term lockdowns – were absolutely devastating and we are still feeling their pernicious effects on society, the economy, child development, mental health, and social interaction.

Finding links to the Soros family in the Joe Biden White House should come as no surprise. In addition to George’s decades-long meddling in our politics, he spent tens of millions backing Biden and other Democrats in 2020, and Alex got in on the action too, throwing $700,000 at the would-be worst president of the 21st century.
As documented in the book The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network for George Soros (2022), George planted his seeds of influence in the Biden White House even before Biden took office.
During the transition, the incoming Biden administration assembled “Transition Review Teams” that included people tasked with understanding the operations of specific government agencies to help the administration “hit the ground running on day one.” Seventeen picks for those teams either worked directly for his Open Society Foundations (OSF) or other Soros-funded organizations.
Through that, Soros was able to exert influence on the transition teams ranging from the State Department to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, United States Mission to the United Nations, Department of Defense, Department of Labor, Department of the Interior, Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve, Banking and Securities Regulators, National Security Council, Office of the US Trade Representative and Department of Veterans Affairs.

Doubtless the fake nonconformist is an American type that goes back centuries, but we surely reached an apex of fraudulence in the early 2020s. How passionately the rioters of Antifa demanded the same things as Fortune 500 CEOs, how righteously millionaire celebrity “activists” raged for the machine. And there was something mournful too, about Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama’s coffee table book Renegades, heavy as a tombstone marking the spot where Rock n’ Roll was finally laid to rest. The counterculture had gone full Weekend at Bernie’s.
Of course, it had been green around the gills for a long time. Confronted with the hyper-commercialisation of radicalism in the early Nineties, the political historian Thomas Frank doubted that even its Golden Age amounted to much: “The Sixties was the age of postmodern fantasy and retailers’ dream, for each identity, each new phase of rebellion, necessitated a comprehensive shopping expedition.” The rejection of tradition, Frank argued, was simply the outcome of a desire to be free to flit between images: “They would be rebels, poets, perky-girls, English, hippies, and playboys in quick succession.”
But while there is much truth to Frank’s critique, the counterculture was not entirely bogus. Some hippies really did turn on, tune in and drop out. Hunter S. Thompson may have ended his days writing for Esquire, but all those drugs and guns weren’t going to pay for themselves. The cartoonist Robert Crumb really was a weirdo. And then there was Frank Zappa, guitarist, satirist, avant-garde composer, and writer of “Why Does It Hurt When I Pee?”
I have always had an affection for Frank Zappa. His Album Weasels Ripped My Flesh had a prize place in my record collection when I was young (until I had to sell them to help pay for law school).

Six years ago (“The Media’s ‘Climate of Hate’ Myth,” American Spectator, Jan. 18, 2019), I examined the political forces behind allegations of an “epidemic” of violence against transgender people. The mainstream media were complicit in a propaganda campaign to convince the public that right-wing “hate” was responsible for this phenomenon. The propaganda campaign involved a running total of how many transgender people had been “murdered” during the current calender year, so that a news report about a recent death could include the fact that the victim was 14th (or 27th or whatever) such person killed in the U.S. that year.
Of course, the activists compiling those lists of transgender victims were not scrupulous about who got included in their totals — they wanted a big number to promote the EPIDEMIC OF HATE narrative, and relied upon the gullibility of journalists not to examine the details of these deaths on a case-by-case basis. Any reasonably curious person could do some basic research and realize that the “epidemic” narrative was bogus. The number of transgender victims whose deaths could be clearly attributed to “transphobia” was so close to zero as to be statistically neglible, a drop in the bucket in a nation where there are about 20,000 homicides a year. Let us stipulate that a drag queen who gets shot during an argument outside a bar at 3 a.m. may, in some vague way, be a victim of “transphobia,” but does it make sense to depict such an incident as evidence of a “Climate of Hate”? And yet this was the substance of the alleged “epidemic” of anti-transgender violence that the media kept hyping up during Donald Trump’s first term. Anyway . . .

The European Commission has channeled billions of euros in public funds to finance NGOs and think tanks that, far from acting independently, have served as instruments to promote its political agenda. This is revealed by a newly published report from MCC Brussels titled ‘The Commission’s Propaganda by Proxy’, unmasking programs such as the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) one that aims to consolidate pro-EU narratives while marginalizing critical voices.
The report denounces the way in which the European Commission allocates funds to NGOs aligned with its values and objectives. “The Commission funds organizations that are economically dependent on its grants and that act as spokespersons for its agenda,” the document states, highlighting a clear distortion of civil society’s traditional role. It also criticizes the Commission itself, which, as an executive body, has evolved into an ideological entity in recent years, moving away from its original role of mere political management for which it was created.
Among the cited examples is the financing of the Young European Federalists (JEF), which has received more than 1.2 million euros between 2021 and 2025 to mobilize young people in favor of European federalization. Another case is the European Policy Centre (EPC), a think tank that has received nearly 30 million euros in the last decade and openly advocates for greater supranational integration.

Actually, it’s more specific than North vs. South, because Minnesotans don’t necessarily use the same vocabulary as New Yorkers or Vermonters. And there are going to be variations across the South as well, so more specifically, I want to write about the linguistic differences between Minnesota and Tennessee. Some of you know that after living all my life in Minnesota, I moved to Tennessee about three years ago. Even before reading this fine post on Ricochet, I knew that Southerners drank “soda,” not “pop,” so I was ready for that one. But here are a few examples that took me by surprise.
I was raised in northern Indiana, almost Michigan, and I’ve said ‘soda’ all my life; but I guess that’s just me.

Four years ago, Storm Uri caused Texas’s centrally planned wholesale electricity market (ERCOT) to buckle, vindicating warnings about the state’s wind/solar reliance. The mainstream media implicated natural gas instead, failing to explore the why behind the why. Rather than deregulation, Texas has chosen to add wind, solar, and batteries, while subsidizing natural gas plants to counter intermittency. This duplicated grid is now driving rates up in a state that could have relied on surplus natural gas instead.
Government acts like government, even in red states. My wife and I bought a backup generator (powered by gas) so we’ll never have to rely on such unreliable people again.
