Judge Orders Mamdani to Start Again With Second Home Tax

After being sued by homeowners, the socialist mayor must reimplement his pied-à-terre tax after its “botched” rollout.
The lawsuit argued that the city sent notices to about 17,000 New Yorkers telling them their homes might be subject to the tax before properly checking whether they were full-time residents.
“Homeowners are being substantially harmed and penalised needlessly” by the city’s “method of implementing the tax law”, Judge Wayne M Ozzi, sitting in Staten Island, ruled.
