I was sure that, after canceling Dr. Seuss last week, this week would cancel Peanuts. Do they need a reason? Of course not.
But instead, it seems the left wants to cancel . . . Adam Smith. The only question is, what took them so long….

As we all know in the United States, conspiracies couldn’t possibly happen because of Reasons, so anybody accused of being a conspiracy theorist must be low class (unless you are black, such as Ta-Nehisi Coates, whose conspiracy theory about why his having been beaten up so much by the other black boys was actually the fault of “those who think they are white” made him a MacArthur Genius).

A popular Twitter account known as Brooklyn Dad has been paid nearly $60,000 by a progressive super PAC to post liberal talking points on the social media platform, users revealed Wednesday.
When the Ruling Class goes Woke, the Woke turn pro (with apologies to Hunter Thompson).
If somebody offered to pay me $60,000 to post liberal talking points on a social media platform, I’d grab it with both hands, although I’d try to get a competing offer from somebody on the right.

Of course, to modern hipsters ‘vibrant’ is an attribute of Urban Heaven. When observed closely, however, ‘vibrant’ is typically a veil over conditions that only young singles who haven’t yet graduated from adolescence (and their Lost Boy seniors) appreciate, including huge helpings of people and food from Turd World nations. The fact that crime rates in ‘vibrant’ communities are typically higher than a normal adult would like is rarely mentioned.
I associate ‘vibrant’ with people who are hooked on meth and can’t function without constant pointless nervous fidgeting.

The Sunshine Protection Act of 2021 would only apply to states who currently participate in DST by getting rid of Standard Time, which lasts between November and March when clocks are turned back one hour. If passed, Americans wouldn’t be forced to change their clocks twice a year.
Well, to begin with, there’s no such thing as a ‘group of bipartisan senators’. There may be a ‘bipartisan group of senators’, but that’s not the same thing. (When did ‘journalists’ stop knowing how to write English?)
Why not get rid of ‘daylight saving’ time and return to the Good Old Days when noon meant that the sun was straight overhead? Why do these people always have to pee in the soup just so that they can say they Made A Difference?
Better yet, get the law out of the time business entirely.

Severian points out some strange stuff.
One of my favorite under-reported stories of the Kung Flu panic — by which I mean “completely unreported, because it might make people think” — is the fact that these idiotic, ever-changing mask requirements must be causing huge spikes in other kinds of disease. For one thing:
You want to know why masks are and always have been bullshit? If the virus survives on surfaces for days, weeks, months, as I’ve heard some “experts” hyperventilating — and not just the Twitter MDs either — then the fag rags should all be considered major biohazards. The very suggestion of a “washable” COVID mask should be enough to land you in public health jail. They should be disposable-only, and guys in full MOPP-4 gear should be waiting near the entrance of every store, waiting to burn the disposables in secure incinerators.

On March 8, President Biden seemed to forget the name of Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and where he worked in a White House event to announce the nomination of two female generals to lead combatant commands. Since the theme of Biden’s mental acuity is still considered a Trump meme, the media desperately wanted to forget this happened.

I have been telling parents for decades that sending a child to almost any college is playing Russian roulette with his or her values.
But it is a different version of Russian roulette. In the traditional version, only one of the gun’s six chambers contains a bullet. In the college version of Russian roulette, five of the six chambers contain a bullet.
If your child attends almost any university in America (or Canada or anywhere else in the English-speaking world), the odds are that your child’s decency, intellectual acuity, faculty of reason, character, and moral compass will be damaged, perhaps permanently.
The worse news is that sending your child to almost any elementary school or high school—public or private—is fast becoming equally toxic. More and more schools are being taken over by left-wing ideologues and by nonideologues who lack the courage to confront the ideologues.
As I have been saying for years.

Mindfulness makes you smug. And not just mindfulness; a whole raft of alternative spiritual practices such as chakra cleansing and past life regressions feed a sense of superiority over normal mortals. That’s the finding of research from Radboud University in Nijmegen in the Netherlands involving some 3,700 people. The leader of the research, Professor Roos Vonk, first engaged in this field of study when she found that a boyfriend who went on a quasi-Buddhist spiritual retreat for clinical psychology students came back with ‘an enlightened, elevated look in his eyes’ and became really tiresome.
Yeah, that often happens.

It was undertaken by the Newlines Institute for Strategy and Policy, in cooperation with the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights, in response to emerging accounts of serious and systematic atrocities in Xinjiang province, particularly directed against the Uyghurs, an ethnic minority, to ascertain whether the People’s Republic of China is in breach of the Genocide Convention under international law.

First, the video clip that horrified the world was heavily edited. We see Floyd, pinned to the ground by Chauvin, piteously crying ‘I can’t breathe.’ Conclusion? That he can’t breathe because Chauvin is pressing on his windpipe. But a look at the police bodycam footage shows that Floyd was complaining that he couldn’t breathe before he was restrained by the police. Why? Because, as the FBI’s interview with the local medical examiner on July 8, 2020 revealed, Floyd was suffering from pulmonary edema, i.e., his lungs were full of fluid. And why was that? Partly because of an underlying heart condition, partly because Floyd was full to the gills with fentanyl, a drug known to affect respiration and cause pulmonary edema.
…
Here’s something else. Although Chauvin’s restraint looks brutal, it was actually part of the standard Minneapolis police protocol for dealing with persons exhibiting ‘excited delirium,’ a dangerous, often fatal, condition brought about by too much fentanyl with one’s afternoon tea. According to the medical examiner, Chauvin did not appear to have obstructed Floyd’s airway — Floyd would not have been able to speak if he had — and Floyd did not die from strangulation. Bottom line, George Floyd died from the effects of a self-administered drug overdose, effects that might have been exacerbated by his interactions with the police, i.e., his exertions in resisting arrest. For their part, the police were trying to help Floyd. It was they who called the ambulance because they recognized that Floyd was in extremis.

The government denied any connection with a bombing that occurred January 29 th near the Israeli embassy in Delhi (the Indian capital). Iran has been using this denial tactic for decades. In the case of the Delhi bombing Iran may well have not been directly responsible, but the denial was seen as normal for Iran. These denials are still effective at slowing down sanctions or designation as an international terrorist. What Iran is admitting or claiming is progress in developing nuclear weapons. The purpose of all these attacks and threats is to persuade Western nations to lift sanctions on Iran. Iran appears confident that this is working because they are illegally exporting more oil to India and China. This is risky because the tankers carrying these shipments can be intercepted and seized. As soon as the new American government took power in January Iran told current and past customers for discounted smuggled oil that Iranian oil would be more easily available in 2021, either free of sanctions or less vigorously enforced sanctions. Iran was betting that the new U.S. government would ease off on the oil export sanctions. So far this has not happened but the Iranian leaders insist it will happen and soon.

There are two women leaning against a railing overlooking the medieval armor exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on a Sunday afternoon. Both have shoulder-length, proudly gray hair, are resplendent in wooden jewelry and draped in clashing layers of flowing tapestry ranging from clay to marigold to topaz, some with vaguely ethnic-inspired patterning.
The two women are in conversation, six feet apart down to the inch and laughing. They’re having a good time. The tableau is a sort of variation on a theme, an aesthetic we might call Santa Fe Art Mom and they are exactly the sort of person you’d expect, as they are, to be wearing two face masks, each.
These two women were numbers four and five out of six people I counted sporting two face masks, one directly top of the other, on a recent cold and drizzly afternoon trip to the Met. The double face mask is a queer, late-stage coronavirus grotesquerie. Just as America’s trifling, paper-pushing dictators sensed skepticism metastasizing in the peasant flock, they needed to make things a little more frightening. Turns out, the one mask you’ve been wearing for an entire year was never good enough.

Voters in Switzerland approved a ban on non-medical face coverings in all public areas by a thin 51%-49% margin Sunday.
The new ban will include religious attire such as burqas and niqabs worn by Muslim women, and face coverings worn by protesters like ski masks and bandannas to conceal their identity, according to the Associated Press. Authorities will now have two years to write specific legislation following the referendum.
And … they will drag their feet, because that’s what ‘authorities’ do.

Brain dead liberals: We make $3 and Morgan makes $6. This is wealth inequity.
Company: Tell us about it. We want to hire Morgan and we’re ready to offer him $7.
BDL: Clearly we have to raise Morgan’s taxes to make the wealth inequity go away.
Government: How much?
BDL: Well let’s see. We pay %10 on our $3 and Morgan pays %40 on his $6. So how about you bump that up to %55 then he’ll be left with the same amount as us.
Government: Okay! Company, and Morgan, you do what you want because we’re not banning or requiring anything here, we lack the balls to take responsibility for anything. But these are the new rates! We’re representing our constituents, don’t you see.
Company: Yikes! Morgan won’t move his fat ass for 45 cents, but we really have to have him. So now we’re going to offer him $10.
Morgan: Uh…um…okay.
BDL: Morgan is making 10!! We’re still making $3, the disparity is getting worse! Who can we blame for this? Derp derp derp.

For decades, the American left has been using Huxley’s “Brave New World” not as a form of literature, but rather as an instruction manual for gaining control of a previously free society. And it has been working just as well as Huxley feared. This is why every Democrat since FDR has fought against means-testing for Social Security – they want us all on the take. Just let government take care of everything. As George W. Bush said, “When someone is hurting, government has to act.” Once government takes responsibility for all our troubles, then we no longer need to take responsibility for ourselves. Which is nice. But Mr. Huxley knows where all this is going. And now that Democrats control the White House, Congress, and our elections, we’re starting to find out. Why are we just finding this out now? Because we didn’t listen to Mr. Huxley, who wrote “Brave New World” 90 years ago, in 1931.

A German virological researcher named Professor Winfried Stöcker has invented a new vaccine which is proving safe and effective against COVID-19. Strictly speaking, it’s an antigen rather than a vaccine — a peptide that confers immunity against the coronavirus without the risks associated with the mRNA vaccines.
It’s no surprise that Prof. Stöcker has aroused the ire of the German medical bureaucracy, to the point where criminal proceedings have been initiated against him. His response is to make the process for manufacturing the new antigen public, without filing for a patent and without asking for payment.
