Of course, they couldn’t tag it ‘Left-wing activist sought in Portland killing admitted to shooting man’ or even ‘Left-wing activist sought in Portland killing admitted to shooting right-wing activist’, which at least would be fair. No, they have to prime the pump so that readers will know what viewpoint The Narrative requires.
On Tuesday morning, NPR Public Editor (or ombudsman) Kelly McBride admitted the taxpayer-funded network had overreached on two recent pieces I highlighted here at NewsBusters. We asked readers to contact McBride, so hopefully that convinced her to issue a verdicts admitting errors and overreach.
In a column, I noted it was bizarre for NPR to claim Trump stated “without evidence” that Kyle Rittenhouse acted in self-defense when he fell down on a Kenosha street, and a man approached him with a handgun.

The New York Times, when it’s not blaming President Trump for riots in Democratic-controlled cities, is making excuses for those hapless Democrats who run those crime-ridden cities, who have no ability to control what actually happens on the streets of their cities. Mayors are so powerless, it’s a wonder people bother to have them!
Of the 45,848 people surveyed by the Cooperative Congressional Election Study concerning who they voted for in the 2016 US presidential election, just 59 were non-citizens. That comes to a little over 0.1% of the electorate, or 1 in 777 active participants. The survey does employ seven methods to validate that a self-reported voter is actually eligible to vote.

As I’ve often mentioned, unlike in Brazil where controversies are routine over whether a person applying for affirmative action preferences is just a white person with a tan and fluffed up hair, white Americans so seldom cheat on quotas for blacks that it’s a huge national scandal every time one example turns up. I call it the Affirmative Action Honor System.
For example, there was Rachel Dolezal back in 2015. And now there is Jessica A. Krug, an associate professor of history at George Washington U., specializing in African and Caribbean history, who today admitted she’s really just a white Jewish woman from the Kansas City suburbs.
Hey, tenure doesn’t grow on trees, you know.

Once in a blue moon, Twitter actually targets the left. Twitter urged Democratic House candidate Elizabeth Hernandez to remove a tweet on September 1 that the platform claimed violated its policies.
Hernandez is running against Republican Rep. Kevin Brady in Texas’s 8th Congressional District. In the tweet that Twitter claimed violated its policies, Hernandez’s campaign account responded to a supporter who was bemoaning that some Texan relatives support President Donald Trump. The August 18 response allegedly stated, “Thank you! And remind all of your Trump supporting relatives to vote on Wednesday, November 4! (Since they’re Trump supporters, they might fall for it. Just saying….)” The response also included a laughing emoji.
Eh, it could be worse. Most of the state flags adopted during the 1800s were, I won’t say as ugly as the South American flags, but still pretty ugly; California is a notable exception. The problem continues that the Confederate battle flag was designed by people who knew what they were doing and is absolutely gorgeous, so it exercises an attraction that transcends ideology.
CNN New Day co-host Alisyn Camerota revealed even more of how much CNN hates conservatives during part two of the voter panel discussion that she began on Tuesday’s show. Just like on the first part of the interview that aired yesterday, Camerota refused to fact-check the Joe Biden supporters’ statements but was combative and hostile to the Donald Trump supporters on the panel.
Could war finally be coming to the eastern Mediterranean? It’s not as excitable a question as it might first appear. In an article titled, ‘Erdogan’s calculated war,‘ the German newspaper Die Welt quoted sources from the Turkish military saying that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had recently ordered his generals to sink a Greek warship, without inflicting casualties. They refused. Then came the suggestion to down a Greek aircraft. Again, they refused.
Greeks and Turks have been at war for 1000 years. This is about as much a surprise as violence between Hindus and Muslims in India.
A group of parents filed a lawsuit Tuesday alleging that the public school system in Montgomery County, Maryland, discriminates against Asian American students in the admission process for gifted and talented programs.
The group of mostly Asian American parents, organized as the Association for Education Fairness, are asking a federal court in Maryland to find that changes to the admissions process violate the Constitution’s equal protection clause and to prohibit continued enforcement of the changes.
The federal government has filled the national stockpile with enough ventilators, according to the Department of Health and Human Services.
The agency told The Hill that it will end some of its remaining contracts for ventilators because it has met its quota for the stockpile.
Earlier this year, the Trump administration awarded $3 billion in emergency contracts to obtain more ventilators as the coronavirus outbreak surged across the country.
This is further to the Z Man’s excellent post on Their Summer of Discontent, so be sure to read that first.
The Progressive Whitopia he describes there — the eschaton they attempted to immanentize in currently-burning places like Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, etc. — can best be described as “college.” His description — “carefully curated hipster areas” — describes the environment of every college campus I’ve been to in the last two decades… and y’all, I’ve been to a lot of college campuses.

That’s an aspect that gets very little attention. The violence we are seeing is in mostly white cities by mostly white people. Minneapolis is 19% black. Seattle is 7% black and Portland is 6% black. Kenosha is 10% black and close to 80% white! Note that super-black cities like Baltimore, St. Louis and Detroit have had no riots. Los Angeles, which just had a police shooting, could not get a decent riot going. They tried, but they lack the white kids with back packs needed to do it.

But notice what’s missing from Biden’s statement. As Rich Lowry notes, Biden never identified anyone as the people he was condemning, other than “right wing militias.” At most, he allowed, he was against riots, arson, looting, and assaults “whether on the left or the right” — in the abstract, without conceding that anybody on his side of the political spectrum, or anybody engaged in protests for left-wing causes, or anybody listening to voices on the left or voices in the Democratic coalition, was responsible for anything whatsoever. Never mind, say, the Portland shooter describing himself as “100 % ANTIFA all the way!” Or the progressive New York lawyers who threw Molotov cocktails at police. Or the Black Lives Matter protest organizer arrested for torching the Wendy’s in Atlanta where police shot Rayshard Brooks. Or the Black Lives Matter protester from Alaska who set fire to a police station in Seattle with officers inside. Or the Black Lives Matter protester arrested for throwing rocks at a truck with a Trump sign. Or the Black Lives Matter protester charged with attempted murder for shooting a man he called a “white supremacist” in Provo. Or the protest leader in San Luis Obispo who was arrested for leading a crowd to block traffic on a highway and smash in the rear window of a vehicle with a four-year-old inside — an arrest that has led to demonstrations demanding the charges be dropped. And so on.

Seemingly every night on social media, we see the truth that the liberal media refuse to show, which has been violent leftist extremists destroying parts of American cities and burning portions of them to the ground. It’s a point President Trump has drawn attention to time and time again, “The top ten [to 20] most dangerous cities in America are run by Democrats.” Well, NBC Nightly News was on a mission to defend their party Tuesday evening by attempting to debunk the President’s claim with a “Fact vs. Fiction” analysis.
The problem? Correspondent Tom Costello never directly addressed the President’s point: the topmost dangerous cities were run by Democrats. Instead, he simply argued that crime was on the rise across the country, including in Republican-led cities.

The death of George Perry Floyd, Jr. on May 25, 2020 was universally condemned by American society. Citizens of all races, colors, and creeds watched the video and saw a problem in need of redress. Millions of citizens across the entire country marched peacefully to petition our government to address something. The challenge was: how to reform the police to restore to the mindset of “to protect and to serve” when some portion of officers seem to have come to view their role as “to oppress and to rule”?
Such peaceful protests continue today; however, Marxist political organizations—such as Antifa, BLM, and the Movement for Black Lives (M4BL)—operate alongside the movement for police reform and seek to create the appearance that the millions of peaceful protestors in the streets support their radical agenda to transform America into a socialist state.

CNN host Alisyn Camerota conducted another 2020 voter panel on Tuesday’s New Day with six women who said they voted for President Trump in 2016; three who will vote for him again and three who say they now support Joe Biden. Instead of moderating the discussion, Camerota cut in to fact-check a Trump voter and defend the Democrat talking points. She did not try to fact-check the Biden supporters.
Camerota also only asked negative questions about Trump, leaving out any questions about Biden (although that may change in part two of the interview airing tomorrow).
Increasingly, calls for wealth and power redistribution are dressed as compensatory justice for members of different identity groups. We see this playing out on our campuses, in our corporations, and, recently, in our streets. But when did the world shift away from a Marxism based on economic classes (the worker v. the bourgeois) into one based on immutable characteristics such as race, ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, and even disability status?
Since now, I guess.
A story has to start somewhere, and I suggest the best place for this one is a fascist prison in Italy in the late 1920s and 1930s. There languished the Italian Communist leader Antonio Gramsci. Now he had the time to write down thoughts he’d been entertaining for over a decade.
Gramsci’s influence is quite unappreciated.

Scott Jennings is hardly a raging Trump fan. He’s a Bushie, having served as a special assistant to W, and is a quintessentially traditional Republican.
But CNN couldn’t risk letting Jennings have a level playing field in his discussion of Kenosha and related issues with South Carolina Democrat Bakari Sellers on today’s New Day. And so, the show decided to triple-team Jennings. As you’ll see from the video, co-host Alisyn Camerota repeatedly interrupted to shush Jennings, echo Sellers’ talking points, and challenge Jennings with anti-Trump views of her own.
Although a small army of media fact-checkers claim otherwise, Joe Biden wants to end single-family zoning in America’s suburbs. On the first night Republican National Convention, Patricia McClosky said that Joe Biden and the radicals now running the Democratic Party “want to abolish the suburbs altogether by ending single-family home zoning.” McCloskey’s claim set off a frenzy of media fact-checks, all insisting that it just isn’t so. Nonetheless, McCloskey had it right.
The most egregiously mistaken McCloskey fact check was also the most widely disseminated. Thomas Beaumont’s fact check for the Associated Press was, like many other AP stories, reposted and reprinted at scores of local news outlets. Yet this supposed fact check was utterly confused and thoroughly mistaken. According to Beaumont, “Biden does not propose banishing single-family homes.” Or again, “[Biden] does not support requiring municipalities to refrain from building single-family homes as a condition for getting money from HUD — the heart of the distorted claims by Trump and the McCloskeys.”

The catastrophe that has befallen Minneapolis this year gets a soft focus treatment in the the Eric Roper/Maya Rao Star Tribune story “‘Hard to be downtown’: Between riots and COVID, allure of downtown Minneapolis tested.” Subhead: “Six months into pandemic, downtown remains largely empty with 85% of area’s workforce still at home.”
Staff writers Liz Navratil and Jim Buchta also contributed to the Star Tribune story. It takes four reporters and an editor or two to come up with such a blurred picture of the catastrophe.
Last week’s riots and looting in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, a few blocks from the offices of the Star Tribune, were the last straw for at least two businesses that had hung in there until now. Brit’s Pub is outta here, as noted previously. Now WCCO TV reports that Dahl Medical Supply, down the block from Brit’s, is also closing its doors thanks to the riots. Video of the story below includes a look inside Dahl Medical as looters got a little emotional, consistent with Reid Forgrave’s invaluable analysis of the festivities last week.
