The evidence is still anecdotal — and The Washington Post was unable to speak directly with immigrants who chose to cancel their SNAP benefits.

So there’s no proof. This is just hand-wringing and tendentious hearsay from obviously partisan activists.

Unless you have been in a cave the last year, you are well aware of the fact that most of what we call news is just made up. Any story with “sources say” in it is fictional. The writer simply conjured the sources and most likely the things they would have said, if they existed. Maybe someone did say something like what was reported, but the so-called reporter was not there to hear it. At best, they got it from the gossip chain or from some C-level talking head, cooling his heels in a cable television green room.

The worst for this is sports reporting, as they no longer even pretend to do be doing real reporting. They just make stuff up and slap the words “according to sources” on it and it is posted as news. Trade rumors are where you see this all the time. Since the people doing the deals for the sports clubs are not talking about their business on camera, the fake news reporters are free to just make up what they want, so they do. It’s all pitched as “rumors” so when it never happens, the fake sports reporters can “report” on that.

Even fake news needs content, which is where fake science comes in. There’s nothing better for a fake news story than a quote from a fake scientist, especially when the topic is human health. Turn on the local fake newscast and there’s always at least one fake story on health or diet. Many of these shows now have a recurring health segment where one of the bubble heads puts on their serious face and talks into the camera about some new threat to your health, usually your diet. It’s all fake.

The root cause of the replication crisis in the soft sciences is mostly due to the fact that it is it not science. It’s market research. They try to quantify some behavior in order to pitch an idea already popular in the mass media or with the managerial class. By slapping the word “science” on it, they are pitching their role as an authority. Bill Nye, the toaster repairman, has made a killing claiming to speak for science on behalf of the cult of Gaia worship. The Cornell Food Lab does the same thing, but for nutrition and food marketing.

CBS demonstrated its list of priorities during Thursday’s CBS Evening News when the network completely ignored a violent and bloody ax attack in one of Germany’s largest train stations. Instead of reporting on the attack in Dusseldorf, “where five people were wounded [and] one seriously,” anchor Scott Pelley wasted roughly 18 seconds reporting on “a rising tide of popularity has made water the bestselling drink in America.”

That’s right. Instead of reporting on a possible terrorist attack, one of the Big Three networks was reporting on how well water sells. “An industry research group told us today that the average American drank more than 39 gallons of bottled water last year, compared to 38 and a half gallons of soda,” Pelley continued in his brief.

Gold Star father Khizr Khan said recently that his travel to Canada had been put under government review, resulting in his cancellation of a talk he was due to give. One problem: There’s no evidence to support his claim.

Even The Washington Post investigated Khan’s assertion and found it lacking.

An official from the Customs and Border Patrol explained the agency doesn’t warn U.S. citizens about potential issues with their upcoming trips. They reiterated that any American citizen with a passport is free to travel.

Several outlets have reached out to Khan for clarification on what caused his travel restrictions. Khan responded with “thank you- no comment” to requests for comment from The Washington Post and NPR.

A New York Times columnist is encouraging IRS employees to commit a felony by leaking Donald Trump’s tax returns to his newspaper.

“If you’re in IRS and have a certain president’s tax return that you’d like to leak, my address is: NYT, 620 Eighth Ave, NY NY 10018,” Nicholas Kristof wrote on Twitter on Sunday.

‘Journalists’, especially those in the DemLegHump Media, have never considered that the laws that apply to everybody else apply to them as well.

I doubt that this is a wise move with Jeff Sessions as AG. Kristoff just might wind up behind bars.

No, a supposedly racist Trump did not remove the bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the White House, as a Time Magazine reporter claimed.

No, election results in three states were not altered by hackers or computer criminals to give Trump the election, as implied by New York Magazine.

No, Michael Flynn did not tweet that he was a scapegoat. That was a media fantasy endorsed by Nancy Pelosi.

In fact, Daniel Payne of the Federalist has compiled a lengthy list of sensational stories about Trump’s supposed buffooneries, mistakes, and crudities that all proved either outright lies or were gross exaggerations and distortions.

A Chrome browser extension titled “Racism Simulator” shows just how racist the left-wing media really is by changing negative references about white people to black people.

“Ever see articles bashing certain groups and thought to yourself how totally not okay it would be if the groups were replaced with another group?” the extension’s download page asks. “This extension swaps the groups being written about on HuffingtonPost, Salon, Buzzfeed, Jezebel, and Gawker to show how much racism, sexism, and outright nastiness they get away with because they chose to target an ‘oppressor’ group.”

While we should have a larger conversation in the near future about a broader strategy for reengaging the beat press that covers HRC, for this we think we can achieve our objective and do the most shaping by going to Maggie.”

Haberman is now a star politics reporter at The New York Times, along with Glenn Thrush, another former Politico reporter who the Wikileaks dump revealed was sending stories to the Clinton campaign for approval. Thrush jokingly described himself as a “hack” for the campaign in an email to John Podesta in which he agreed to send part of his story for approval before publishing.

“No worries Because I have become a hack I will send u the whole section that pertains to u,” Thrush wrote to the Clinton campaign chairman in an April 2015 email. “Please don’t share or tell anyone I did this Tell me if I fucked up anything.”

The emails showing Thrush and Haberman’s tight relationship with the Clinton campaign were just a few of the many emails that revealed a pervasive culture among political media elites in which journalists operate more like political operatives than enterprising reporters.

For Clinton cabinet secretary and current UC Berkeley professor Robert Reich, having recently suggested (twice) that the Berkeley violence was likely an alt-right false flag, now attributes the latest Swedish immigrant riots to Donald Trump provoking them with his lies about immigrant violence in Sweden.

Gosh, that sure sounds like dishwashing utopia. And it may as well be utopia in the actual sense of the word. There are 616,000 restaurants in America. CNN finds it newsworthy that 285 of them – .046% — have pledged to run an extreme hippie fantasy camp for unskilled labor. (You can bet an inordinate number of these joints are vegan.) A CNN tweet plublicizing the story actually said “285 restaurants across the US” had joined. Heck, there are probably 285 restaurants in any three-block radius in Manhattan, not counting hot dog carts.

That’s because obvious stupidity is very frustrating. An example:

“If he hadn’t gotten into office, 70,000 miners would have been put out of work,” Patricia Nana, a 42-year-old naturalized citizen from Cameroon. “I saw the ceremony where he signed that bill, giving them their jobs back, and he had miners with their hard hats and everything — you could see how happy they were.”

The regulation actually would have cost relatively few mining jobs and would have created nearly as many new jobs on the regulatory side, according to a government report — an example of the frequent distance between Trump’s rhetoric, which many of his supporters wholeheartedly believe, and verifiable facts.

Note the assumption that ‘new jobs on the regulatory side’ would have equaled ‘mining jobs’ so what’s Trump complaining about?

Well, for one thing, ‘mining jobs’ produce coal, a useful product; ‘new jobs on the regulatory side’ produce regulations and interference with people trying to produce a useful product — not the same thing.

Plus, who thinks that ‘new jobs on the regulatory side’ would be the sort that former coal miners would qualify for? Show of hands? Yeah, I thought so.

Coal miners out of work, new jobs for Children of the Crust — it’s all good, according to the Washington Post.

That’s why people voted for Trump, and why they cheer each time he kicks a ‘journalist’ in the ‘nads.

The executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalism compared President Donald Trump to the late Venezuelan leftist dictator Hugo Chavez in a column Friday.

Guess they realize that calling him the New Hitler is getting lame.

“What does Trump have in common with Hugo Chavez? A media strategy,” Joel Simon wrote in a column for the Columbia Journalism Review.

Also in common with Kim Kardashian, Mark Zuckerberg, Barbra Streisand, and everybody elected to public office. Boy, that Chavez guy really gets around. But Joel Simon doesn’t have ‘a media strategy, oh no. Trump also puts his pants on one leg at a time, another similarity to Chavez! It’s uncanny!

Simon wrote, “Trump’s unrelenting attacks on the media and attempts to undermine its credibility and paint it as an opposition force are straight out the Latin American populists’ playbook.”

A playbook he stole from previous socialists everywhere. Let’s get our attributions right, now.

While these Latin American populist leaders are “leftist-oriented there are remarkable similarities between the two in the rhetoric they employ to mobilize supporters,” the executive director of the Committee to Protect Journalism wrote.

Perhaps because that’s because of unrelenting attacks beforehand by the media.

“In Latin America, this process was aided by the fact that the traditional media has been allied with oligarchic interests,” Simon added.

Of course, that wouldn’t apply to the New York Times, owned by the Sulzbergers, or the Washington Post, owned by Jeff Bezos. No sir, no oligarchic interests around here.

He added that, “Trump’s intent is clear. Through his relentless attacks, he seeks to create an environment in which critical media is marginalized and the truth is unknowable.”

Sounds like the DemLegHump Media coverage of Hillary. But Hillary can’t be like Chavez, that would be sexist.

The executive director of the journalism organization said that American journalists should not “take the bait” and act like the “opposition.”

According to an article in the New York Times, independent bookstores are declaring themselves foot soldiers in the left’s so-called “resistance” against our president. Apparently, “bookstores have entered the fray, taking on roles ranging from meeting place to political war room.” Because what’s better than businesses getting political?

The article goes into many examples of bookstores taking up metaphorical arms as a squadron in the left-wing’s chaos campaign. For example, one bookstore has given out free samples of a book called “We Should All Be Feminists” by an author named Chinamanda Ngozi Adichie. “All over the country” bookstores are placing George Orwell’s “1984” and Sinclair Lewis’ “It Can’t Happen Here” in their windows. They are also apparently calling the very front display table in their stores the “#Resist table.” (Why does it need a hashtag?)

Because otherwise people wouldn’t know the Correct Thing To Think.

Kang’s opening volley – Should Athletes Stick to Sports? – is a rhetorical question. He agrees with sports media critic Bryan Curtis that it’s a moot point now. “Trump’s presidency, with its daily explosions, has made it impossible to cover pro sports, even in the simplest box-score ways, without detouring onto the White House lawn. This comes, in part, from the way basic sports coverage works. Reporters ask questions before and after every game, and when the only thing anyone wants to talk about is Trump, some of those questions will be about the president.”

But the cart’s leading the horse here! Biased media are baiting athletes with loaded questions, then claiming “the only thing anyone wants to talk about is Trump.” Later the confused Kang admits the media endlessly badgered Tom Brady about his “Make America Great Again” hat. That’s right, and Kang’s copout notwithstanding, it’s the media driving the trend, not the other way around. Sports journalist are liberal, and liberals are constantly shrinking the spaces that have traditionally been politics-free. It’s what they do.

Celebrities denounced Texas’s potential transgender bathroom bill in an open letter Tuesday.

Stars like Jimmy Kimmel, Jennifer Lawrence and Lady Gaga asked leaders in the Texas government to strike down the bill, claiming the legislation would harm transgender children, reports My Statesman.

Harm how?

“Transgender and gender-nonconforming young people are already subjected to bullying and harassment. Can you imagine the messages these bills send to children- the message of ‘that child is unwelcome. that child is dangerous?’” the letter admonished Texas leaders.

Perhaps the message is to conform. I don’t see how it will be heard above all of the encouraging messages that they get from the Crust.

Senate Bill 6 and House Bill 1362, the legislation in question, would prevent transgenders from using the bathroom according to their gender identity in public schools and government property. Schools would be allowed to provide alternate accommodations for transgenders, however.

Problem solved, then. (But, of course, that’s not the real goal — the real goal is forcing normal people to accept abnormal people as normal, and that war is far from over.)

The signers claimed the bills “criminalize” being transgender and deny transgenders their “basic human dignity.”

Don’t see any criminal penalties in there for the kids, just the DemLegHump Schools. I guess ‘basic human dignity’ somehow involves the right to be weird and to have everybody else not notice.

“It is up to you whether these bills will become law, and we are watching. It is up to us to commit to doing everything within our power to make sure all of our fans,crews,  and fellow artists feel safe and welcome, wherever we go,” the letter stated.

Aha, so it’s not about transgender kids, it’s about transgender adults. The Truth Will Out. Well, I for one don’t care whether your ‘fans, crews, and fellow artists’ feel welcome in Texas, wherever else you might want to go (and we Texans would really wish you would go there instead).

Scott Johnson at Powerline looks at the Trump/Russian kerfuffle.

Faceless bureaucrats in the intelligence and law enforcement community seek to take down the Trump administration on some pretext relating to Russia. That is my takeaway from the New York Times story “Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence” by Michael Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti and Matt Apuzzo. The Times story appears to be an extension of the covert campaign waged to cashier Michael Flynn noted by Eli Lake (Bloomberg), Damon Linker (The Week) and John Podhoretz (New York Post).

The big Times story is linked by Drudge and full of incriminating innuendo. It is the innuendo that strikes me most forcibly as I read the story.

Even putting the innuendo to one side, the story’s three reporters are what literary critics call unreliable narrators. Here is their description of Trump’s sarcastic comment at the press conference late this past July in the course of the campaign (video below): “At one point last summer, Mr. Trump said at a campaign event that he hoped Russian intelligence services had stolen Hillary Clinton’s emails and would make them public.” That is a lie, not to put too fine a point on it.

If you pay any attention to the DemLegHump Media (and I can’t think of any reason why you would), you will notice a concerted attempt to tug on any loose thread in the new Trump administration in a valiant attempt to pull it apart. They’ve somehow pulled Michael Flynn loose, and so they’re going over the rest of the incoming team like a chimp in search of a flea on his brother’s butt. This has now gone to ridiculous extremes.

Example: Trump Campaign Aides Had Repeated Contacts With Russian Intelligence

An article of 30 paragraphs, carefully crafted to suggest that the Trump campaign colluded with Russian intelligence to cheat Hillary of the Presidency.

The key is paragraph three: ‘The officials interviewed in recent weeks said that, so far, they had seen no evidence of such cooperation.’

So where’s the story? The truth is that there is no story. The rest of the verbiage details the desperate attempts of Leftist bureaucrats to find something, anything, on which to hang a more serious charge. But they can’t. The dogs are running all over the landscape, and they can’t find a scent. But you’re meant to get the impression that there’s a scent there, somewhere, and it’s just a matter of time before they find it.

This isn’t news. This is the sort of thing you see in the supermarket check-out line tabloids; the fact that it’s in the New York Times proglodytes says pretty plainly that they’ve taken off the mask and are now not bothering to disguise the fact that they are just a propaganda organ for the Democrat party and the of the American left.

Some 200 people willingly sequestered themselves inside on a beautiful, sunny day in order to save reams of government climate data before it could be deleted by the Trump administration.

Of course, there is no indication that ‘the Trump administration’ gives a shit about their ‘data’, most of which has been ‘massaged’ to fit their climate change models.

Activists fear the new President’s team may remove archives of valuable scientific information following his campaign declaration that “no one really knows” whether climate change is real, and his nomination for head of the Environmental Protection Agency of a man who describes himself as a “leading advocate” against the body.

In other words. they’re afraid that he will act as they would were they in his position. This tells us more about them than about Trump.

Listening is only for people who “matter,” not those who labor. Industrial areas are places they visit every four years, like the zoo. You don’t listen to the animals at the zoo. They pop in, write their stories about blue-haired old ladies and how quaint it is, then head back to the DC cocktail circuit as a hero who can regale their peers with tales of how they survived some filthy diner lacking a proper brunch menu. “You mean they didn’t have mimosas?” The horror.

In what might be described as the journalism equivalent of ambulance chasing, the Washington Post is inviting readers to tell it how their lives have been ruined by President Trump’s executive order on immigration.

I’ve been reading the Post for 55 years. I don’t recall the paper ever running individualized story after individualized story about how particular people have been affected by a government policy. Nor do I recall the Post ever soliciting such stories.

I also don’t recall the Post engaging in this sort of journalism when Donald Trump intervened to prevent companies from moving plants from the U.S. to foreign countries. The Post easily could have run multiple stories about workers whose jobs Trump saved, thereby rescuing their economic situation. The Post could have elicited information about the dire consequences particular people would have faced if the company had moved its operation abroad.

To the best of my recollection, the Post didn’t do so.

It can’t be that the Washington Post is out to get our new president, can it?

Entertainment provides us with a quick review of LaBeouf’s latest performance art obsession that has inadvertently turned into comic art for others.

It’s astonishing how common the belief is among those who pretend to be other people for money that they are great movers and shakers in politics, despite the fact that their influence extends only to those on the left hand of the bell curve. I rather doubt that President Trump is losing a lot of sleep over being disliked by people whose major contribution to modern American life is increasing the percentage of the population who have tattoos, piercings, and minimum-wage jobs.
