On August 5, Bangladesh’s prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, was forced to resign and flee to India after student-led protests turned into a violent demand for change in the country. The political and social upheaval that has followed has devastated Christians, Hindus, and other religious minorities. Islamists are exploiting the unrest to attack them with impunity.
According to reports and social media posts from the region, many houses and farms belonging to religious minorities have been destroyed, with their possessions and livestock looted as well. Both Christians and Hindus have been beaten, raped, murdered, and pressured to abandon their homes. Many of those not driven from their homes remain in hiding out of a fear of persecution, according to Open Doors, which monitors Christian persecution globally.

Millions of people get arrested every year—about 7.36 million in 2022 alone. For most of us, that seems pretty abstract, because most of us aren’t criminals, and we assume that if we haven’t done anything wrong we have nothing to worry about.
But there are at least two things wrong with that assumption. First, almost everyone does something illegal in their lives that they view as a victimless crime or simply don’t realize is illegal, so your chances of being arrested someday may be higher than you suppose. And second, law enforcement and corporations are increasingly cutting out human beings and relying on technologies like automation, facial recognition, and artificial intelligence (often in combination), and those technologies are flawed—like, really flawed. And interacting with them can lead to false accusations and even arrests, even if you did absolutely nothing wrong. Here are seven ways you could be arrested today without even thinking about a crime.

Fifteen years ago, an Apple ad campaign issued a paean to the triumph of the smartphone: There’s an app for that, it said. Today, that message sounds less like a promise than a threat. There’s an app for that? If only there weren’t.
Apps are all around us now. McDonald’s has an app. Dunkin’ has an app. Every chain restaurant has an app. Every food-delivery service too: Grubhub, Uber Eats, DoorDash, Chowbus. Every supermarket and big-box store. I currently have 139 apps on my phone. These include: Menards, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Joann Fabric, Dierbergs, Target, IKEA, Walmart, Whole Foods. I recently re-downloaded the Michaels app while I was in the Michaels checkout line just so I could apply a $5 coupon that the register failed to read from the app anyway.
Even when you’re lacking in a store-specific app, your apps will let you pay by app. You just need to figure out (or remember, if you ever knew) whether your gardener or your hair salon takes Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or one of the new bank-provided services such as Zelle and Paze.

Since all three officers are black, we were not subjected to the riotous cries of RACISM! that would otherwise attend such an affair.
But I’m sure there’s some band of proglodytes somewhere who are this very minute taking to social media to explain that, yes, black police officers can be and sometimes are racist, ‘racist’ in this context meaning ‘anti-black’.

Fox News host Jesse Watters warned that an unprecedented favor from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to leftist billionaire George Soros could wreak havoc on the American media landscape.
During the Oct. 2 edition of Jesse Watters Primetime, Watters slammed the FCC decision to waive a mandatory review of Soros’s foreign-backed purchase of Audacy, America’s second-largest radio company. Watters reminded his audience that Soros will soon own hundreds of radio stations that reach countless Americans. “Conservative talk stations” are among those purchased by Soros, Watters affirmed.
After playing a clip of the late radio legend Rush Limbaugh discussing American freedoms, Watters said, “Voices like our good friend Rush, [Sean] Hannity, [Mark] Levin—they’re an oasis of reason in an ocean of liberal bias. But that could change very soon. The company that controls these conservative talk stations, they are falling into the hands of Soros.”

A young hostage kidnapped by ISIS terrorists at age 11 and then held by Hamas for a decade has been rescued by Israeli forces in Gaza after a months-long operation led by the US, officials said Thursday.
Fawzia Amin Sido, 21, was freed earlier this week, with footage showing her being embraced tightly by her emotional family soon after touching back down in her native Iraq.
“Fawzia, a Yazidi girl kidnapped by ISIS from Iraq and brought to Gaza at just 11 years old, has finally been rescued by the Israeli security forces,” tweeted David Saranga, the director of the digital diplomacy bureau at Israel’s foreign ministry.

When Joe Biden became president, the Middle East was calm. Now it is in the midst of a multifront war.
So quiet was the inheritance from the prior Trump administration that nearly three years later, on September 29, 2023 – and just eight days before the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israelis – Biden’s national security advisor Jack Sullivan could still brag that “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades.”
So, what exactly happened to the inherited calm that led to the current nonstop chaos of the present?
In a word, theocratic Iran—the nexus of almost all current Middle East terrorism and conflict—was unleashed by Team Biden after having been neutered by the Trump administration.
The Biden-Harris administration adopted a 5-step revisionist protocol that appeased and encouraged Iran and its terrorist surrogates Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.

Two Swedish teenagers were jailed Thursday in pre-trial detention in connection with two predawn explosions in the vicinity of the Israeli Embassy in Copenhagen a day earlier. Prosecutors said investigators were establishing “whether the motive could be a terror attack.”
No one was injured in the blasts on early Wednesday in a neighborhood with several foreign diplomatic missions, though the nearby Jewish school was closed following the explosions.
The pair, who cannot be identified under a court order, were ordered held for 27 days. They faced preliminary charges of possessing illegal weapons and carrying five hand grenades. Two of the grenades blew up when the suspects threw them at a house near the embassy, prosecutor Søren Harbo said.
“This was pretty close to the Israeli Embassy,” Harbo said before Thursday’s court hearing. The explosions caused damage to a roof terrace of a nearby house. The diplomatic mission was not harmed.

In Colorado, now seen as a blue state, an average of 52.3% of voters have supported the Democratic candidate across the last four presidential elections. In fact, Colorado has gone to the Democratic candidate in every presidential election since 2004, when the GOP candidate George W. Bush defeated John Kerry, a Democrat. Barring any unforeseen shakeup, Colorado is expected to align with historical voting patterns once again in 2024 and go to Harris. (Here is a look at the 15 least popular presidents, according to Millennials.)
Despite its status as a Democratic stronghold, there are several parts of the state that have consistently broken with the prevailing political ideology in recent elections. According to voting records, there are 37 counties in Colorado where an average of at least 50% of voters have supported the Republican candidate across the last four presidential elections. In four of these counties, more than 80% of voters cast ballots for the Republican candidate over the same four general elections.
Republicans get outvoted by the major metropolitan areas, which are (as always) dominated by Democrats — Californians moving to Denver, college students in Boulder, and God alone knows what is going on in Colorado Springs.

Large staffing companies that thrived during the Afghanistan and Iraq wars under the Bush-Obama years retooled their business models as the US involvement and war funding in the Middle East wound down. Now, these staffing firms seem to be profiting off the Biden-Harris administration’s open-border migrant invasion by providing essential services, such as private security, transportation, and many other services, to ensure the fed’s migrant network nationwide operates smoothly.
These companies are likely awarded handsome federal contracts, paid for by the US taxpayer.
Bussing and housing millions of illegal and legal aliens is big business for staffing companies and non-profits. Americans have to realize their tax dollars are paying for all of this while the migrants displace and replace blue-collar workers in small-town factories nationwide. The folks in Springfield, Ohio, and Charleroi, Pennsylvania, know firsthand just how devastating globalist open border policies can be for them.

The underwater caves of the Yucatán Peninsula are a window to the distant past. Through two million years and over multiple glaciation cycles, these caves have been transformed. When the sea level was high, the caves flooded, and their reach expanded.
During the ice ages, the caves dried out as the sea level dropped, and the seeping water from the surface decorated the caverns with deposits such as stalagmites and stalactites, collectively known as speleothems. Then, with the next cycle came higher sea levels again, flooding the caves and preserving in time the speleothems and everything else with them.
I have been diving the unique submerged landscapes of Mexican cenotes, or sinkholes, for almost ten years, exploring their dark, flooded tunnels and capturing their secrets. The last time the shallow caves on the Yucatán Peninsula flooded was around 8,000 years ago, which means that every diver in these caves travels back in time to a prehistoric age. The paleontological and archaeological remains preserved within them would disintegrate at the surface, which makes these caves a perfect time capsule.

Over the past several years, I’ve watched with sadness as the reputation of medical science has taken it on the chin. The pandemic polluted the public’s opinion of the purity of science and nobility of medicine.
Worst of all, science was taken hostage as much as truth was.
True scientists and honest doctors, asking important questions, were ignored, or worse, canceled. It was replaced by political grandstanding and pharmaceutical profit-taking, and our fellow citizens took note.
Scientific journals of the highest regard were strongarmed into publishing articles generated by lawyers and PR firms, only to then have those papers exposed as lies and retracted. Recent admissions by the likes of Mark Zuckerberg have revealed that government bureaucrats exerted pressure on social media companies to dress up opinions as facts to serve an agenda.

Peter Vlaming, a longtime high school French teacher in Virginia, was fired in 2018 for refusing to use a student’s preferred pronouns. On Monday, after years of litigation and a win for Vlaming at the Virginia Supreme Court, the school board finally capitulated and agreed to settle the case for $575,000.
But the West Point School Board’s refusal for five years to protect Vlaming’s free speech and religious freedom rights came with an exorbitant price tag.
In 2018, one of Vlaming’s female students at West Point High School began identifying as a transgender male. Although Vlaming consistently used the student’s preferred name, the French teacher carefully avoided using third-person pronouns so as not to violate his own religious beliefs.
None of this would be possible without the guarantees embodied in the U.S. Constitution. See what’s happening in Europe and the U.K. if you don’t believe me.

The growing female athletes’ revolution against “inclusion” gone mad has escalated, with the Boise State Bronco and Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball teams forfeiting games against conference rival San Jose State, in apparent objection to the Spartans roster including an alleged male-to-female trans player.
The Spartans rolled into the weekend with a sparkling 9-0 record — and controversy over the squad’s senior outside/right side hitter Blaire Fleming, who is one of the team’s top players in terms of kills and points. The buzz was killed, however, when Boise State announced it would take a conference loss rather than play the Spartans. The school did not give a reason for the decision, but the motive seems clear to all observers.
Eventually, athletic competitions allowing ‘trans’ people into women’s sports will drive Real Women out.
Once that happens, Real Women who really want to do sports will form parallel organizations limited to Real Women.

In the Netherlands, there is much unrest in the cultural sector over the Dutch government’s intention to increase VAT on culture, books, and sports, raising the rate from 9% to 21% effective 1 January 2026. The VAT increase in question is indeed a problem for the cultural sector, which has experienced significant pressure in the wake of COVID-19. Yet, all in all, it is a relatively minor problem; and, in fact, the fuss being made about it serves to divert attention from a much bigger problem within the Dutch cultural sector. For what is destroying the cultural sector from within is woke ideology, which is ultimately aimed not at the reformation of the sector, but at the complete demise of all heritage institutions.
Are such assessments overblown? I am afraid not. After all, wokeism argues that Western cultural heritage is an expression of colonialism, racism, and abuse of power. In other words, that cultural heritage is a legacy of the privileged white man and his ‘evil’ historical deeds. It is therefore perfectly logical that the adherents of the woke ideology want to bring about a new world, “unburdened by what has been” (to put it in the words of Kamala Harris). But, by definition, the notion of tabula rasa is incompatible with a desire to possess a meaningful and enduring cultural heritage.

The mysterious Chinese submarine that apparently sunk in a shipyard earlier this year was the first of a new class featuring a hybrid nuclear/conventional propulsion system, according to a new report. The latest development in the saga of the Type 041 Zhou class submarine would seem to clear up some of the previous uncertainty about the boat as well as signal that China is working on novel solutions for its fast-growing underwater fleet.
In a recent report citing unnamed defense officials, the Washington Times notes that the Type 041 “employs both conventional and nuclear propulsion,” specifically, “a small nuclear reactor” in addition to a conventional powerplant.
When the Type 041 was first identified in Wuchang Shipyard, it was assessed as being one of the Type 039A series boats, also known in the West as the Yuan class or a variant of it. The Type 039A is the first Chinese submarine with an air-independent propulsion (AIP) system, which greatly increases the time that it can remain submerged and makes it harder to detect, compared with traditional conventionally powered subs.

Lin Robinson-Young isn’t a well-known figure. On social media, the Victoria, B.C.-based social-justice activist self-describes as an “autistic thembo nerd” who seeks to “free Palestine”; but otherwise provides scant biographical information, and attracts few followers. But such is the radicalised political climate in British Columbia’s capital, at the heart of what is sometimes called Canada’s “left coast,” that a single local obscurity such as this can pose a real threat to the free speech rights of everyone else.
On September 15, Robinson-Young posted to a Facebook group called Victoria BC Protests (Activism & Demonstrations), denouncing the local Royal Canadian Legion hall for hosting a group of women that I’d helped bring together for a speaking tour. Our organisation, Vancouver Island Speaks, stands for the propositions that biology is real; that women deserve the right to establish protected spaces that are free of men (no matter what pronouns they care to use); that parents of gender-distressed children should be informed by educators if their children seek to adopt a new identity; and that minors should not be treated with life- and body-altering hormones and surgeries as a means to cope with gender stereotypes and the stresses of puberty. According to Robinson-Young, these positions mark us as a “far-right anti-transgender hate group.”

Political debates in America are rarely worth the effort to watch mostly because they are not genuine debates. Instead, they are something like a joint press conference where the candidates also get to shout at one another. In a general election, the candidate of the stupid party always agrees to allow the candidate of the evil party to invite his friends to be the moderators. The resulting show, and it is mostly just a show, is about the stupid party candidate fending off the others.

I am the father of two young daughters. They are more precious to me than everything else in the universe combined. I would die for them without a moment’s hesitation, and consider myself honoured to have been given the opportunity. Right now, they are being stolen from me before my eyes, and it is not obvious what I can do about it.
I shall refrain from sharing the details of my unhappy marriage, except to say this: I have done everything in my power to avoid a divorce. Coming from a psychology background, I am only too aware of the deleterious effects that would have on my children, no matter how civil the split. Fatherless children in particular perform poorly on almost every metric, including education, poverty, child pregnancy, drug use, abuse, and prison. This coupled with the excruciating realisation that I would not be there for them when they most needed me, and instead would find themselves at the mercy of whatever third-rate surrogate I am supplanted by. My plan therefore for years has been to hold on until my daughters were adults, and then get the hell out.
That option has been taken off the table now, because my wife has filed for divorce herself. The demands made are interesting: 100% of the family assets (despite my wife having never worked throughout the marriage), a large compensation payment for ‘damages’ (ludicrous, if you knew the circumstances), a healthy alimony cheque and worst of all, sole custody of the children. Seeing as there is zero chance of this being awarded (even in the misandrist hell of the divorce court), manoeuvres were necessary. And they have been deployed exhaustively.
This is why men aren’t getting married any more. Women have no one to blame but themselves.
