The transatlantic slave trade took 12 million Africans to the New World, but was exceeded by the 17 million Africans who were enslaved by Arabs an other Muslims into the Ottoman Empire and further on in Asia.
Slavery was a universal component of every human society until Christians in the 19th century decided to stop it.
