Israelis Free Yazidi Girl Enslaved by Muslims

10th October 2024

Read it.

A Yazidi slave girl has been freed from her Muslim captors by the Evil Jews. You know, the same ones who mix the blood of Gentile babies into their matzo dough.

A dedicated Israeli effort has freed Fawzia from her Palestinian owners. She has been reunited with her family, whom she hadn’t seen for ten years, since she was 11 years old.

Islam has no problem with slavery; never did. Arab slave-traders were more involved in the African slave trade than Americans, although that’s the quiet part that never gets said out loud; fewer things are more amusing than American negroes adopting Arabic (or Arabic-sounding) names in an effort to ‘get back to their roots’.  (History of slavery in the Muslim world, Wikipedia)

The Expensive Problem With the Minimum Wage

10th October 2024

Read it.

Good politics leads to bad economics, which is why minarchy is the only language these sorts of people understand. Now, obviously, I would say that as some described as a “mad free marketeer” — but as was said about me on the same occasion I can spot those things that are “wrong not just ideologically but in terms of basic facts”.

The subject then was Johann Hari. The subject now is the minimum wage. The base idea of the minimum wage is that the politicians — those who kiss enough babies to have power over us — know the correct value of an hour of labour. That the value of that hour might be what someone is prepared to pay for it escapes them.

Yet the essential truth of this is obvious. As Ha Joon Chang points out, Sven gets much more for driving a bus in Stockholm than Ashraf does in Dhaka, despite the latter’s job being both more difficult and stressful. The reason is that wages in general are higher in Sweden than Bangladesh — therefore higher wages have to be offered to get the bus driven. This does not accord with political reasoning, for no one kisses babies in order to leave the world alone to get on with itself.

The Return of the Black Flags

10th October 2024

Quilette.

We seem to have reached a hinge moment in the long-running battle against the Islamic State. In recent months, the jihadist outfit has been mustering forces in Syria’s Badiya desert, recruiting and training a new band of holy warriors to resurrect its dream of ruling a caliphate. The rallying of jihadist forces and the corresponding outburst of violence have not been out of the ordinary in this vast ungoverned space, but they may yet prove combustible enough to engulf Syria and parts of Iraq.

This year, the number of attacks in Syria and Iraq has doubled. The primary targets of the growing insurgency have been US garrisons in Syria and units of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Kurdish-led troops whom the US helped to defeat the militant group five years ago. The jihadists’ immediate objective has been to curtail counter-terrorism patrols and free thousands of their confederates from jail, where they have languished since the SDF and US-led coalition recaptured the Islamic State’s last bastion.

Since laying waste to the caliphate in 2019, the US has maintained a small but robust military presence in Syria and Iraq, conducting a largely surreptitious campaign to suppress the remnants of IS. US warplanes carry out airstrikes and provide live aerial surveillance to SDF ground forces conducting raids on suspected Islamic State cells. Occasionally, American commandos undertake missions of their own to kill or capture senior Islamic State leaders. In 2024, the SDF has reportedly captured 233 Islamic State fighters in 28 operations while American aircraft have conducted three strikes on Islamic State targets in Syria and one in Iraq. This level of kinetic activity mirrors 2023, when the US carried out four strikes against Islamic State.

Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.

‘Serve the nation, kill a Jew’ Graffiti Written On Prominent Buenos Aires Monument

10th October 2024

Read it.

The graffiti, reading “Serve the nation, kill a Jew,” was inked onto a column of a monument to Simon Bolivar, historically considered “the Liberator” of South America, in Parque Rivadavia in the Argentine capital. A Jewish star stood in for the final word of the slogan.

Argentina’s leading Jewish organization, known as DAIA, filed an official complaint, and the municipality swiftly cleaned up the graffiti in the afternoon, shortly after it was discovered. DAIA condemned the “serious anti-Semitic graffiti” and said it was one of more than 500 antisemitic incidents the organization had recorded this year, amid a spike following Oct. 7, 2023.

Argentina has a Jewish population of nearly 200,000, the largest in Latin America. The vast majority live in the Buenos Aires area.

Non-Western Immigrants Commit One-Third of Rapes and Violent Crimes in Denmark

10th October 2024

Read it.

Citing numbers from the Ministry of Justice, Berlingske reports that non-Western immigrants, who make up 8.4% of the Danish population, commit 14% of the country’s crimes of aggravated violence and 24.3% of the rapes, judging by number of convicted.

Maybe even more concerning are the figures for second-generation non-Western immigrants. Making up a mere 2.2% of the population, this demographic is responsible for 15.6% of the violent crimes and 8.1% of the rapes.

Put together, this means perpetrators of 29.6% of the country’s violent crimes and 32.4% of rapes are from a non-Western background, despite only making up 10.6% of the population.

Let thugs into your country, and then be surprised at what you get.

German town’s memorial stones for Nazi victims are stolen on Oct. 7 anniversary

10th October 2024

Read it.

Ten stones that memorialized victims of the Holocaust in a German town were discovered to be missing on Monday, the one-year anniversary of Hamas’ Oct. 7 attacks on Israel.

Residents in the eastern German town of Zeitz woke up to find that all of the town’s “stumbling stones,” called “Stolpersteine” in German, had been dislodged and stolen. The brass plaques had been lodged between cobblestones in front of the houses where Jews lived before the Nazis deported and killed them.

Stumbling stones like those in Zeitz have been placed across Europe and serve as a memorial to Jews and others persecuted by the Nazis, listing their names, birthdates and what is known of their fates — including their arrests, deportation to concentration camps and death.

In November 2023, weeks after the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas War, four stumbling stones that marked the residences of Jews in Rome were defaced with black paint or burned.

Fixing Our Civil Rights Regime

9th October 2024

The American Mind.

The history of civil rights reform is to a considerable degree a history of constitutional conflict. The civil rights revolution has put substantial pressure on a wide array of constitutional principles—including freedom of speech, freedom of association, due process, and the separation of powers.

At present, we may be witnessing the beginning of a broad course correction. One very important sign is the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard, which struck down the diversity justification for affirmative action in higher education. That opinion came as nearly half of the country’s state legislatures push back against DEI and wokeness—especially in higher education. These efforts have borne fruit in a way that is resetting the national agenda.

Oddly, we do not discuss these red state initiatives in terms of “civil rights reform,” though that is in fact what they amount to. That we do not articulate these efforts in the most straightforward terms available (preferring to cry “Marxism!” or “postmodernism!”) raises questions about their long-term prospects. Indeed, this failure to name forthrightly what red states are doing seems to suggest a certain amount of uncertainty and anxiety at the center of contemporary anti-woke efforts.

Combating Elite Universities’ Admissions Lawlessness

9th October 2024

The American Mind.

In response to an unfavorable Supreme Court ruling in Worcester v. Georgia, President Andrew Jackson is reputed to have said, “John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it.”

This statement finds a contemporary echo in the response of elite universities to the recent Supreme Court decisions that banned affirmative action in college admissions. Almost every one of them has continued to discriminate against white and Asian American applicants.

The implications of the universities’ defiance of the Supreme Court have effects that go far beyond college admissions. Above all, they show that America’s anti-white regime will not just go away because of Court rulings.

Appalachian Self-Reliance

9th October 2024

Read it.

A strange scene unfolds on I-26 to Asheville. Heading south, away from the city, the highway is bumper-to-bumper traffic. Lawnmowers and grills are lashed to trailers, with other household supplies packed tightly in the backseat, pressed against the windows.

Heading north, towards the city, are far fewer cars. As the road twists through idyllic mountains, the type of the vehicles changes. With every exit, the population of sedans and SUVs thins out until the traffic is a silent march of F-150s and Ram 1500s, somberly heading towards areas hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Their beds are packed to the brim with supplies, while others haul equipment on trailers.

There are no police or FEMA to be seen, and National Guard Humvees are absent. From the highway alone, one might not notice that there had been a crippling disaster a week ago. Downtown Asheville appears almost untouched, due to its higher elevation. Except for a few signs for food aid, it’s business as usual. But just five minutes downhill is a different story. The Biltmore Village neighborhood looks like a warzone: buildings leveled, semi-trucks flipped, mangled power lines. A thick mud carpets the streets, drying in some places. Passing cars kick it up to a haze.

Kamala Harris, Taxes, and the Fair Share Nonsense

9th October 2024

Read it.

Once again, Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris has declared that she wants to ‘tax the rich’ to pay for her desired expansion of the American welfare state. In a recent interview with CBS 60 Minutes, Harris again beat the drum of economic redistribution, explaining:

One thing that I’m gonna make sure is that the richest among us, who can afford it, pay their fair share in taxes.

The term ‘fair share’ is a rhetorical staple among the Left. It is also the most un-defined concept in the political vocabulary: not one proponent of ‘fair share’ taxes on ‘the rich’ has ever produced a coherent definition of either ‘fair share’ or ‘the rich.’ To her credit, Kamala Harris comes a little bit closer to doing that: alongside her usual socialist rhetoric on economic redistribution, she has proposed a so-called minimum tax on the very wealthy. It would impose a 25% minimum income tax on taxpayers with a wealth of $100 million or more.

Orbán’s Presentation of Hungarian Programme Turns Into Left-Wing Mudslinging

9th October 2024

Read it.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s presentation of the Hungarian EU Presidency’s programme in the European Parliament on Wednesday, October 9th, turned into a mud-slinging contest by leftist-liberal parties who used the opportunity to make outrageous, false accusations against the conservative government of Hungary.

Viktor Orbán said his aim was to present the suggestions of his government on ways to “make Europe great again” in areas such as competitiveness, migration, and security, but berated the far-left, centre-left, and liberal members of the European Parliament (EP) for turning the debate into a “party political intifada,” and for attacking Hungary with the usual “left-wing propaganda.”

He also criticised European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for giving a political speech, in which she, too, attacked Hungary and the patriotic parties of Europe instead of being a neutral actor, as the Commission should be. “The debate has gone beyond the bounds of reason and the world of facts,” Viktor Orbán said in conclusion.

Sweden Moves To Ban Cousin Marriages

9th October 2024

Read it.

An investigation commissioned by the Swedish government recommends banning cousin marriages and also proposes making marriages between close relatives—such as an uncle and his brother’s child, or half-siblings—illegal.

The investigation points out that cousin marriages are linked to honor-based norms, and that there is a specific risk of girls and women facing ‘honor-related oppression’ in these marriages. It also highlights that cousin marriages today happen to a considerable extent in Sweden.

The proposed ban would apply to marriages in Sweden but also mean the country would not recognize such marriages conducted in other countries.

Pakistan is notorious for its forced first-cousin and uncle-niece marriages, with the consequent deleterious genetic results.

Although not explicitly cited as the reason for Sweden’s proposed ban on cousin marriages, the risk of congenital disabilities is twice as high in children whose parents are closely related, studies show.

In 2005, British MP Ann Cryer sparked controversy by raising the issue of genetic risks associated with first-cousin marriages within the Pakistani community, framing it as a public health concern, but stopping short of calling for a ban. At the time, the Birmingham Primary Care Trust estimated that one in ten children born to first-cousin parents in the city’s Pakistani community either died in infancy or suffered genetic disorders.

I have about a dozen female first cousins, not one of which I could stand to live in the same zip code with, much less marry.

Cognizant Discriminated Against Non-Indian Workers In H-1B Visa Case, U.S. Jury Finds

The Register.

A US jury has found that employment practices at Cognizant constitute discriminatory conduct toward non-Indian workers in a case that originated in 2013 and claimed the tech giant favored H-1B visa holders from India over local workers.

Last week’s verdict [PDF] says the IT service giant should pay punitive damages. It followed Cognizant’s failed attempt to have a federal judge dismiss a 2017 class action lawsuit alleging bias on the grounds of race and nationality after a previous trial ended without the jury reaching a verdict.

The US-based tech outsourcing and consultancy firm denies the claims. A spokesperson for Cognizant told The Register it was disappointed with the latest verdict and plans to vigorously defend itself on appeal.

“We provide equal employment opportunities for all employees and have built a diverse and inclusive workplace that promotes a culture of belonging in which all employees feel valued, are engaged and have the opportunity to develop and succeed. Cognizant does not tolerate discrimination and takes such claims seriously,” they said.

research projects that are spurring Chinese advancement in cutting-edge military technologies, including “hypersonic weapons, artificial intelligence, fourth generation nuclear weapons technology, and semiconductor technology,” a new congressional report has found.

“Due to a lack of legal guardrails around federally funded research, hundreds of millions of dollars in U.S. federal research funding over the last decade have contributed to the PRC’s strategic goals by helping the PRC achieve advancements in dual use, critical, and emerging technologies,” the House Select Committee on China wrote in a report published late last month.

The findings, compiled as part of a year-and-half-long investigation, show how major American universities are using federal funds to partner with Chinese institutions on a range of research projects that feed the communist nation’s military. The bulk of this work is fueled by taxpayer grants from the Pentagon and U.S. intelligence community, providing “back-door access to the very foreign adversary nation whose aggression these capabilities are necessary to protect against,” according to the committee.

‘I Meant It’: Suspended Columbia Student Khymani James Stands by Remarks Fantasizing of ‘Murdering Zionists’

9th October 2024

Columbia University student Khymani James is standing by comments he made in the spring fantasizing about “murdering Zionists” and saying “Zionists don’t deserve to live.” He said in a string of Tuesday social media posts that he “never wrote” an April apology he issued over the remarks, which got him suspended and attracted international media attention, adding, “Anything I said, I meant it.”

James shared a letter from Columbia University Apartheid Divest, the student group behind the illegal encampment that plagued campus at the time of his infamous remarks, to his X followers on Tuesday afternoon. The group apologized for its past treatment of James, saying a “so-called ‘apology'” it released on his behalf in April caused him”irrevocable harm” and exposed him “to even more hatred from white supremacist and queerphobic liberals and fascists.” The letter also endorsed “liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance” and said “violence is the only path forward.”

James responded by thanking his “comrades” for their “beautiful, powerful” words. He said he “couldn’t agree more” with the endorsement of violence.

“I never wrote the neo-liberal apology posted in late April, and I’m glad we’ve set the record straight once and for all. I will not allow anyone to shame me for my politics,” he wrote. “Anything I said, I meant it.”

The Dangerous Rise of Egg Harvesting

9th October 2024

Read it.

Given the news about the conflict in the Middle East, “freebiegate”, and the potential vote on assisted dying, you could be forgiven for missing the news this week that the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) raised the cap on payments that could be made by fertility clinics to young women for their eggs.

The news had been trailed in August, to the dismay of women’s rights campaigners, and on 1 October the change was made, with payments to women for their eggs rising from £750 to £985 per cycle. Supporters of the policy change say this has come about as payments hadn’t risen since 2011, and that an uplift was necessary to account for inflation. That being the case, we may ask why men are being paid a mere £45 for their sperm, which increased from £35 on 1 October.

It may come as a shock to many readers that you can be paid for your gametes at all, raising as it does the concern that such high payments (for eggs at least) may incentivise young women on low incomes or those who are students to sell their eggs for the money. Indeed, reports have been seen in the media of women undergoing egg donation to pay towards holidays, or to go travelling. For a long time now, eggs and sperm have been tradable commodities.

All part of the feminist program to destroy our civilization by breaking the genetic link between parents and their children. Eventually children will be a fashion accessory, as they are now for celebrities.

Oak Park vs. Austin

9th October 2024

Steve Sailer.

Oak Park, IL is a very liberal, quite gay, still quite white suburb of Chicago just over the city line from the bleak Austin ‘hood within Chicago. When Martin Luther King came to Chicago and demanded integrated neighborhoods, Austin was one of the first to tip. Middle class blacks moved in, but they were quickly followed by underclass blacks as the federal government promoted mortgages for minorities in 1968-1972. Crime exploded, the middle class blacks fled, and local real estate agents got rich flipping entire neighborhoods.

Neighboring Oak Park, with its couple of dozen Frank Lloyd Wright homes, had more of a margin for error. It quickly made most streets connecting Oak Park and Austin into culdesacs.

A brilliant innovation was the no doubt illegal but successful “black-a-block” racial quota imposed on realtors to keep Oak Park from tipping all black: the rate of racial change was throttled way back. Realtors could make the score of a lifetime by driving out everybody who lived on a block.

These rather definite statements of Iran’s intentions in the presidential election have been dismissed with generic Russiagate buzzwords that describe the Islamic terrorist state as being out to “destabilize and sow chaos”. When Iran hacked the Trump campaign, we were told that it was to “sow chaos” and now that Trump has been briefed on the assassination threats, once again it’s been described as a plot to “destabilize and sow chaos” in the United States.

But if Iran is out to only “sow chaos” then why isn’t it trying to assassinate Biden or Kamala?

Ryan Routh and the War in Ukraine

9th October 2024

The American Mind.

The second would-be Trump assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh, is clearly an unhinged individual. But that does not mean his actions were irrational.

Following the entire U.S. political establishment, Routh believes that Donald Trump is the foremost threat to the current world order. Because of Trump’s refusal to treat international relations as a Manichean struggle, particularly in regard to the war in Ukraine, he violated the political narrative that every power-wielding institution in the West wholeheartedly believes in. An interview recorded by Newsweek Romania shows Routh explaining that the war “is black and white—this is about good vs. evil.”

He imbibed this narrative from the ruling class and their friends in the mainstream media, all of whom equate a second Trump administration with the fall of the transatlantic world order and the return of regional centers of power in Europe. According to their thinking, the 45th president is committed to destroying NATO and continues to be an ignorant pawn—if not a willing asset—of Vladimir Putin. Trump’s electoral victory would therefore be akin to the end of “democracy,” both at home and abroad.

One does not need to be an expert logician to see where this line of reasoning leads. If true, is it really worth leaving such an important decision to the ballot box, especially when so many Americans have expressed support for the former president, demonstrating that they are incapable of being responsible citizens?

Christiania

In the year 1623, Christian IV, king of Denmark and Norway, built a long series of moats and ramparts just across from central Copenhagen, on the eastern edge of the city’s harbor, to protect the city from Swedish invasion. In the early 19th century, the Danish government added artillery barracks. And in the 20th century, they filled in the surrounding swamps to make room for a modern military base, even as the rest of Copenhagen grew around it. That is until 1971, explains Far From Home reporter Scott Gurian, when the Danish defense ministry closed the base for good, and Copenhagen’s countercultural youth wasted no time breaking into the now vacant fortress and squatting in various buildings.

Progressives have been assholes every age.

The Pentagon has provided more details on its latest strike against Houthi targets in Yemen on Friday, but as the rebel group’s attacks continue, the goal of making the Red Sea safe for merchant ships still seems out of reach.

Columbia pro-Palestinian Group Endorses Violence and Walks Back Apology for Student Who Said ‘Zionists don’t deserve to live’

The statement on Tuesday from Columbia University Apartheid Divest also included an explicit call for violence. It comes as pro-Palestinian groups at Columbia and other universities have made clear that they intend to continue and in many cases escalate their activism in the current school year.

“We support liberation by any means necessary, including armed resistance,” the CUAD statement said. “In the face of violence from the oppressor equipped with the most lethal military force on the planet, where you’ve exhausted all peaceful means of resolution, violence is the only path forward.”

The student, Khymani James, had made the remark about Zionists in a video he posted in January, in which he also said, “Be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists.” Columbia barred James from campus in April, after the video resurfaced and garnered widespread attention and criticism. At the time, James was a prominent activist in Columbia’s pro-Palestinian encampment movement.

Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.

New Vision for Lift Fan Aircraft Family Grows From Special Operations X-Plane Program

Aurora Flight Sciences has released new renderings of an uncrewed fan-in-wing vertical take-off-and-landing capable demonstrator aircraft it is currently working on, as well as of a revised vision for a scaled-up cargo aircraft based on the same technology. The demonstrator is being developed under a U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) program centered on interest in a new high-speed, runway-independent special operations transport plane. Aurora’s unveiling of the new renders also comes amid growing interest from the U.S. Air Force in similar capabilities to support more general distributed logistics missions, especially in contested environments during future high-end conflicts.

Aurora, a subsidiary of Boeing, shared the new renders and provided more information about the work it is doing as part of DARPA’s Speed and Runway Independent Technologies (SPRINT) program earlier today. DARPA awarded new SPRINT contracts to Aurora, as well as Bell, earlier this year. SPRINT, which kicked off last year, is directly tied U.S. Special Operations Command’s (SOCOM) High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) project.

Quotation of the Day

ZMan:

A core tenant of radicalism is escalatory dominance. The radical seeks to establish the principle that no matter what you do to him in response to his radicalism, he will do far worse to you in his response. The point of this is to force the other side to deal on terms favorable to the radical. This is not in an effort to gain a compromise to which the radical will abide, but to gnaw away at the other side until they are gone.

The Computer Built to Last 50 Years

8th October 2024

Read it.

Typewriters are incredibly complex and precise piece of machinery. At their peak in the decades around World War II, we built them so well that, today, we don’t need to build any typewriters anymore. We simply have enough of them on earth. You may object that it’s because nobody uses them anymore. It’s not true. Lots of writers keep using them, they became trendy in the 2010s and, to escape surveillance, some secret services started to use them back. It’s a very niche but existing market.

Let’s that idea sink in: we basically built enough typewriters for the world in less than a century. If we want more typewriters, the solution is not to build more but to find them in attics and restore them. For most typewriters, restoration is only a matter of taking the time to do it. There’s no complex skills or tools involved. Even the most difficult operations could be learned alone, by simple trial and error. The whole theory needed to understand a typewriter is the typewriter itself.

One of the first things I bought when I got to college in 1974 was an IBM Selectric typewriter. It cost me $1000 (approximately 7% of the cost of a year at Yale) and it was worth every penny.
