Family members of law enforcement officers are facing threats from individuals affiliated with the far-left extremist group Antifa, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in an Oct. 10 X post.

“Antifa terrorists are threatening the families of our law enforcement. We will hunt these sickos down and put them behind bars,” the post said. “In Texas, the spouse of an ICE officer received a voicemail filled with violent threats.”

Rachel Reeves has signalled the better off will be forced to “contribute more” as she prepares to raise taxes at the Budget.

A long-left-leaning billionaire philanthropist has triggered San Francisco politicians by praising President Trump’s performance in office — and even more so by urging Trump to deploy National Guard soldiers to suppress the city’s rampant criminality.

“I fully support the president,” said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff in an interview with the New York Times. “I think he’s doing a great job.” That puts Benioff at stark odds with his fellow San Franciscans: In a June Public Policy Institute of California poll, 77% of Bay Area residents disapproved of Trump’s performance. Benioff recounted his recent honor of sitting across a table from Trump at a state dinner hosted by King Charles at Windsor Castle, and said he used the dinner to tell Trump “how grateful I am for everything he’s doing.”

The reason Democrat politicians prefer criminals to billionaires is (a) there are more criminals than billionaires, hence more votes, (b) criminals are more stupid than billionaires, hence more likely to vote for Democrats, and (c) there are enough foolish billionaires that will make massive political contributions to Democrats (Lenin’s ‘useful idiots’) that they’ll still rake in the bucks. Given the chaos that has engulfed France for weeks, if not months, everyone is looking for a way out. But what way? The pretender to the French throne, Louis XX, Duke of Anjou and head of the elder branch of the Bourbons, and as such, king of France de jure, seized the opportunity to publish an op-ed in the French press. An alternative to the crisis of the regime?

This is not the first time that Louis has spoken out in the French press. He likes to remind the French people of his existence from time to time, especially when they are going through periods of crisis. At the time of the yellow vest crisis in 2018, he publicly expressed his support for the movement, and a delegation of yellow vests visited the Expiatory Chapel, built in memory of Louis XVI, where a mass is held every year in the presence of the heir to the throne to remember the martyred king of the Revolution—to thank him and, in a way, to pay homage to him.

Since then, he has been heard to take a stand during the pension reform crisis and the mobilisation of angry farmers. He is particularly interested in social debates, such as the inclusion of abortion in the constitution and the introduction of euthanasia in France. On these occasions, he defends a vision of humanity based on the traditional teachings of the Catholic Church, which is committed to the dignity of human life from its beginning to its natural death.

Listening to many Muslim activists and leaders, you would think that Western Europe is a hotbed of anti-Muslim hatred. That Muslims cannot leave their homes without fearing for their safety. Or could not participate in mainstream society without facing debilitating prejudice.

Scottish former First Minister Humza Yousaf complained earlier this year that the current political climate “certainly makes me feel unsafe, and I suspect makes most Muslims question whether their future could possibly be in this country.” In the same vein, the UK Labour government is toying with the idea of adopting a more expansive definition of Islamophobia that would bend any criticism of Islam or Muslims as hate speech. According to the French Council of the Muslim Faith, French Muslims feel they are “no longer safe from constant suspicion.” One survey in the Netherlands earlier this year apparently found that anti-Muslim “discrimination is structural, widespread, and normalised.” The Islamic Commission of Spain similarly warned against the “widespread spread of hate speech against Islam, Muslims, mosques.”

Reality tells a different story, however. In fact, many Western European societies expend vast amounts of time, money, and energy in accommodating Muslim communities—even to the detriment of the native population. A cursory glance at the news recently will tell you all you need to know. In Spain’s North African exclave of Ceuta this week, the government has banned the serving of pork in public schools and mandated halal meals. This means that any meat offered in school cafeterias must be slaughtered according to Muslim religious practices—the animal is killed by a Muslim, in the name of Allah, by slitting its throat and draining its blood, without first being stunned.

Tsarfati adds: (Context: The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah was a temporary peace agreement signed by Mohammed with the Quraysh tribe, which he later broke before conquering Mecca. The statement implies that Hamas views the ceasefire as a tactical pause before a future “victory” or takeover.)

No one who pays attention will be surprised. The cease fire agreement contemplates that the remainder of President Trump’s peace plan, which calls for an end to Hamas rule and an international coalition to supervise Gaza on an interim basis, will be negotiated in good faith. But of course Hamas has never done anything in good faith, and it is hard to imagine that the remainder of the peace plan will actually be implemented.

German police are investigating whether far-left extremists from Antifa were behind a massive fire that destroyed the historic Thurn und Taxis hunting lodge near Regensburg, Bavaria earlier this week.

The fire, which broke out in the early hours of Monday, reduced the 19th-century building to its outer walls and caused damage estimated at around €4 million.

Authorities confirmed that a statement claiming responsibility for the arson has been posted on the far-left online platform Indymedia.

The message, signed by an “Antifa Kommando,” described the fire as a “warning” to Gloria, Dowager Princess of Thurn und Taxis, accusing her of “reactionary” and “fascist” sympathies.

Police in Regensburg said the statement is being examined but stressed that they are “investigating in all directions.”

Every election season, mayors and governors step before cameras to boast that crime is down. Charts are waved, statistics are cited, and carefully crafted talking points are deployed to assure anxious citizens that their streets are safer than ever.

Yet when you leave the press conference and walk the sidewalks of Baltimore, Chicago, or Los Angeles, the reality feels far different. The gap between official numbers and lived experience is wide enough to swallow public trust whole.

The reason for this disconnect is simple: Most crime never gets reported in the first place. The Baltimore Sun recently highlighted what criminologists have known for decades—about half of all crime in America isn’t captured in police data. Burglaries are only reported 45% of the time. Simple assaults, 37%. Sexual assaults, a shameful 21%. Think about that for a moment: Nearly 4 out of 5 sexual assaults never reach the official record. Yet politicians still spin a story that safety is improving.

Belgian police have arrested three young adults in Antwerp on suspicion of planning a jihadist-inspired terrorist attack, reportedly targeting top political figures including Prime Minister Bart De Wever.

Federal prosecutor Ann Fransen said the suspects were detained as part of an investigation into “attempted terrorist murder and participation in the activities of a terrorist group.” Evidence suggests the group intended to carry out an attack using a drone capable of carrying explosives.

“Certain elements indicate that the suspects intended to carry out a jihadist-inspired terrorist attack against political figures,” Fransen told reporters, adding that investigators found plans to construct an armed drone.

Two weeks ago the FBI announced that 489 ‘violent criminals’ had been arrested in Memphis over a 60-day period, which included 118 guns seized, in a multi-agency effort involving the FBI, DEA, Memphis PD, ICE, Homeland Security and other agencies.

Shortly after this announcement, Memphis law enforcement coordinated with DHS to deploy the National Guard to Memphis to assist the effort.

Four people were killed in a shooting in a town in the Mississippi Delta region after a high school football homecoming game there, Mississippi state Sen. Derrick Simmons told The Associated Press.

The shootings happened in the downtown area of the small town of Leland, Mississippi, where people had gathered following the game, said Simmons, who represents people in that region.

Four other victims were taken to a hospital in Greenville and then flown to a larger hospital in the state capital city of Jackson, said Simmons, who is the senator for that region.

Leland, Mississippi, is over 70% black.

The footage, released Thursday, blurred out the swastika tattoo of one of the main military trainers interviewed, but failed to do so in the video’s YouTube thumbnail. Three men were arrested in Antwerp in the foiled attack believed to primarily be aimed at Belgium’s Prime Minister Bert De Wever.

Imagine how peaceful the world would be if the Religion of Peace didn’t exist.

When I saw the headline “Maria Corina Machado Wins the Nobel Peace Prize,” I almost laughed at the absurdity. But I didn’t, because there’s nothing funny about rewarding someone whose politics have brought so much suffering. Anyone who knows what she stands for knows there’s nothing remotely peaceful about her politics.

If this is what counts as “peace” in 2025, then the prize itself has lost every ounce of credibility. I’m Venezuelan-American, and I know exactly what Machado represents. She’s the smiling face of Washington’s regime-change machine, the polished spokesperson for sanctions, privatization, and foreign intervention dressed up as democracy.

These jerks call themselves “independent” even when they sound like negative Democrat campaign commercials. Rather loves the I-word: “That deal and the hiring of Weiss signals to everyone, especially to the man in the Oval Office, that CBS is no longer independent, but under the tutelage of a conservative billionaire who is putting more than his thumb on the scale.”

In southern India, a new enterprise called Peer Publicon Consultancy offers a full suite of services to scientific researchers. It will not only write a scholarly paper for a fee but also guarantee publishing the fraudulent work in a respected journal.

It is one of many “paper mills” that have emerged across Asia and Eastern Europe over the last two decades. Paper mills are having remarkable success peddling tens of thousands of bogus academic journal papers and authorships to university and medical researchers seeking to pad their resumes in highly competitive fields.

These sophisticated outfits also engage in trickery to get papers published, infiltrating journals with their own editors and reviewers and even resorting to bribery, according to investigators and a white paper from Wiley, a New Jersey-based publisher. The scale of the fraud is eye-popping: One Wiley subsidiary, Hindawi, retracted more than 8,000 articles two years ago for suspected paper mill involvement.

With rangers furloughed, enforcement is scarce. A park employee told SFGATE only one wilderness ranger — actually a volunteer — is currently patrolling. “There are lots of squatters in the campgrounds,” the employee said. “There are lots of people that truly believe they can do whatever they want because of the lack of rangers. They’ve told us.”

Data on how parts of a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine spread in the bodies of mice were withheld from regulatory submissions to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to a new comparison of those submissions and similar documents sent to Japanese regulators.

Byram Bridle, who has a PhD in immunology and is an associate professor of immunology and virology at the University of Guelph in Canada, authored the comparison. It was dated Aug. 13 and released on Oct. 4 by Dr. Robert Malone, a vaccine adviser to the U.S. government.

In their broad assault on Carr and online free speech, panelists even praised one of his predecessors for refusing to use Section 230 to defend the speech rights of social media users.

The Iran-linked Houthis of Yemen appear to have halted their missile and drone attacks on Israel as the US-backed Gaza ceasefire has gone into effect Friday.

There have not been any recent observable attacks since both sides agreed to accept Trump’s 20-point peace plan, with the Houthis now saying they are ‘monitoring’ the ceasefire and Israel’s compliance, suggesting no more attacks while it is pending. Maritime industry sources in Europe are signaling optimism after a vital global transit route has been effectively blocked for much of the last two years.

Fake death threat letters from the Taliban are being used to dupe the Home Office in asylum applications for Afghan migrants.

A Telegraph investigation can reveal how corrupt officials in Afghanistan produce government letters threatening to kill asylum seekers. The letters are then used as evidence in asylum applications.

To demonstrate how easily such documents can be obtained, an undercover Telegraph reporter paid Taliban officials £40 to produce three fake letters from different regional offices on official headed paper, signed by local administrators.

Foreign nationals now receive one in every six pounds paid out under Britain’s main state benefit, official figures reveal.

Internal government data, published for the first time, show more than £10bn worth of Universal Credit was paid to non-UK or Irish citizens last year.

The data, released under freedom of information laws, reveal that £10.1bn of the £61.2bn spent on Universal Credit in 2024 went to foreigners.

It means that 16.5 per cent of the entire budget went to migrants – or £1 in every £6.

The amount spent on overseas nationals has increased from £6.3bn in 2022 and £7.9bn in 2023, rising as a proportion from 15.5 to 16.5 per cent.

Days after a photo went viral showing damage that the aircraft carrier USS Truman incurred during a February collision with a freighter was apparently painted over, the Navy released an explanation.

“The exterior cosmetic damage to USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) sustained from the collision will get repaired during the ship’s upcoming Refueling Complex Overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipbuilding as planned,” a Navy official said. “Immediately following the collision, while in Souda Bay, Greece, new bulkheads were installed inside each of the damaged spaces to establish weathertight integrity.”

The carrier is expected to begin RCOH in the next twelve months. We have reached out to the Navy for a firmer date.

A Chicago woman who was shot multiple times by federal immigration agents was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of impeding a federal officer with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors alleged Marimar Martinez, 30, rammed the vehicle of federal agents with her own vehicle before they shot her, which they said was an act of self-defense and that she was armed.

Martinez’s attorney, Christopher Parente, said footage from one of the agent’s bodycams contradicted that account, and Martinez will plead not guilty at an arraignment scheduled for next week.

A man convicted in the fatal stabbing of a 6-year-old Kentucky boy in 2015 is back behind bars, this time in Florida, after his early release at the beginning of the month sparked social media outrage and criticism from the Trump White House.

Ronald Exantus, 42, was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in Ocala revealed that he had recently relocated to the Sunshine State and failed to register as a felon within 48 hours, as required by state law.

Under Florida law, convicted felons are required to register with the sheriff’s office within 48 hours of release or entering a county.
