Steve Sailer breaks some news.
The black man who has been arrested for “randomly” throwing a little white boy over the 3rd floor railing at the Mall of America in Minnesota turns out to have a long history of acting like a vicious loon. But, despite all the talk by the great and the good about how America must get rid of Mass Incarceration, Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda was out and about.

High speed rail is marketed as a sustainable alternative to air traffic. According to the International Union of Railways, the high speed train “plays a key role in a stage of sustainable development and combating climate change”. As a regular long-distance train traveller in Europe, I have to say that the opposite is true. High speed rail is destroying the most valuable alternative to the airplane; the “low speed” rail network that has been in service for decades.
The introduction of a high speed train connection invariably accompanies the elimination of a slightly slower, but much more affordable, alternative route, forcing passengers to use the new and more expensive product, or abandon the train altogether. As a result, business people switch from full-service planes to high speed trains, while the majority of Europeans are pushed into cars, coaches and low-cost airplanes.
High-speed trains are great for people who can afford the (usually heavily subsidized by the tazpayer) fares — and those who get discounted tickets like students, handicapped people, and the elderly.

Okay, chaps, keep your hands where people can see them, and don’t touch. And try not to look. Soon that too will be a crime, so keep your eyes on the ground and you’ll be fine. The other thing to stay away from is due process. It does not exist and don’t try to exploit it. It’s a male invention intended to shield men. Put this in your thick skull: You are presumed guilty when the accuser is female, especially an American female. Now shut up, keep your head down, and go to work.

The Democratic Party has come out against the rule of law and in favor of illegal immigration. Opposing open borders, Democrats say, is immoral. OK, fine–where are the tens of millions of people who would like to move here from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, and so on going to go? Liberals imagine them inhabiting places where they don’t live. David French, National Review cuck, fetches a stick for his Establishment paymasters.
… but the idea that you can use human beings as pawns to punish your political enemies is not only repugnant, it’s politically disastrous.
They are already being used as pawns, by the other side. It’s disingenuous to say that we have to play by the rules but they don’t. This is how losers talk, and (no surprise) the record of National Review writers for recommending losing political strategies is second to none. The number of illegal immigrants is RIGHT NOW greater than our capacity to handle them, hence the policy of ‘catch and release’ that is now in place. If they must be released, what’s the argument against releasing them in communities that have indicated a favorable attitude toward them by proclaiming their Sanctuary City status? There is none, and of course French doesn’t even try to make one. His whole argument boils down to I Don’t Like It So Therefore It’s Wrong, which is what (dare I say it?) what proglodytes do, not (supposed) conservatives.

“On Monday, the boys were forced to meet with an assistant principal and an anti-bullying specialist, who quickly decided to punish them for clearly constitutionally-protected speech.”
Truly a sign of our times. Two boys go to a shooting range, train with legal firearms. Post some pictures and innocuous comments about their training and are immediately punished by their school because of the complaints of one panicked parent.
This is the true battlefield of the Culture Wars, not our politics. No political victory will fix this and no legal regime of protection will last when under assault from people like this parent and the school officials at these boys’ school.
Yet another reason to keep your children from government schools.

Since its official unveiling last month, critics have been teeing off on Hudson Yards, the $25 billion office-and-apartment megaproject on Manhattan’s West Side. The Guardian’s Oliver Wainwright calls it “bargain-basement building-by-the-yard stuff that would feel more at home in the second-tier city of a developing economy.” In Curbed, Alexandra Lange writes that it suffers from “no contrast. No weirdness, no wildness, nothing off book.” The New York Times’ Michael Kimmelman describes it as a “vast neoliberal Zion.”
‘Neoliberal’ is the new jargon for ‘libertarian’ (if you’re on the Left) or ‘liberal’ (if you’re on the Right).
Sometimes you can’t tell the jargon without a scorecard … and sometimes not even then.
However, among all the many reasons to feel salty about Hudson Yards, one perspective may deserve a place of privilege: the view from Harlem. Without their knowledge, the residents of a number of public housing developments helped to make Hudson Yards possible. The mega-luxury of this mini-Dubai was financed in part through a program that was supposed to help alleviate urban poverty. Hudson Yards ate Harlem’s lunch.

The White House is moving to dissolve the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and reorganize the agency’s responsibilities into three existing departments in order to “drive what is needed to support the mission in all of government.”
…
The agency was formed in 1979 and tasked with managing the government’s civilian workforce, which includes healthcare, insurance and retirement benefits, as well as oversight and human resources policies for federal employees.
Basically, the Federal government’s HR department. Another of Jimmy Carter’s mistakes.

The Washington Post “Fact Checker” completely avoided any Pinocchios for a fact-mangling Democrat again. That’s because the liberals at the Post were upset at the conservative outrage that Rep. Ilhan Omar said “some people did something” on 9/11. The “fact” squad said they wanted to put the remarks “in context”….but they actually defended Omar by comparing her to President George W. Bush’s speeches in the days after 9/11.

We wrote here about the fact that Rep. Ilhan Omar was scheduled to give a speech in Woodland Hills, California, for CAIR, the terrorist-supporting unindicted co-conspirator of the Holy Land Foundation prosecution. Sure enough, Omar’s CAIR speech made news. Why? She described the September 11 attacks as “some people did something” so that “all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.” It’s all about “us,” although what civil liberties were lost is, as always, unclear.
…
This is a common theme in Islamic and liberal circles: terrorist attacks are significant only insofar as they raise the specter of “backlash” against Muslims. One sometimes gets the impression that, save for such hypothetical backlash–incessantly warned about, but rarely occurring–some would be content with the terrorist attacks.

Recently my wife and I walked along the fashionable shopping street Avenue Montaigne, situated between Place de l’Alma and Champs Elysées in one of the most affluent Parisian districts. Passing the elegant window fronts of Chanel, Givenchy, Jimmy Choo, Luis Vuitton, Prada, Valentino, and YSL, we noticed a woman and child half-lying on the pavement in tattered clothes, appealing to passersby for money. While it was a particularly appalling sight in this prosperous setting, it was not an anomaly in the urban fabric of Paris. Such expressions of extreme poverty and deprivation have, in fact, become sadly familiar features of most Western European cities of late.
Hey, it worked in the Old Country.

There’s never been a better time to be a polygamist.
All over Africa and the Middle East they’re loosening up the laws so that a man can rack up as many marriages as he can pay for, although I think the strictly Islamic countries are gonna hold you to four women at a time. If you want that fifth one, you have to eeny-meeny-miny-mo the others and pick one to divorce. Sounds a little harsh, I know, but thankfully they make the actual divorce easy. I think all you have to do is go to the town square, scream out “I divorce thee” seven times, roast a pigeon, throw back a Red Bull, and voilà! you’re divorced! You don’t need Gloria Allred. You don’t need Raoul Felder. You don’t even need a Grand Caymans bank account. You might have to give her family a couple of goats, but that’s it.

For over six years, California has had a top marginal income tax rate of 13.3%, the highest in the nation.
About 150,000 households in a state of 40 million people now pay nearly half of the total annual state income tax.
The state legislature sold that confiscatory tax rate on the idea that it was a temporary fix and would eventually be phased out. No one believed that. California voters, about 40% of whom pay no state income taxes, naturally approved the extension of the high rate by an overwhelming margin.
