There’s a problem with the Trump administration’s forthcoming Israeli-Palestinian peace plan, and it’s not the plan itself. The problem is that Palestinians are certain to reject the plan irrespective of its terms. We know this because history tells us so. As Lord Byron once said, “The best prophet of the future is the past.”
On Jan. 23, 2020, it was reported that the Trump administration would soon release its long-awaited plan for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. That plan, the Washington Post reported, was finished in 2019 but “kept under wraps amid political turmoil in Israel.” The plan was finally unveiled on Jan. 28, 2020, but it hardly matters since the Palestinian Authority (PA), which rules the West Bank, announced long ago that it would oppose the plan.
Indeed, the PA initiated a public campaign against the so-called “deal of the century” back in 2018 — before its terms were fully formulated, much less public.
The problem with all such ‘peace plans’ is that if one side wants war, you’ll get war.
The ‘Palestinian’ Authority’s problem is the same as that of the Democrats: They’ve been brainwashing their ‘base’ toward extremism for two generations, and so anything other than total surrender by Israel/Republicans (which isn’t going to happen) will be automatically rejected. This means that no agreement is possible.

An elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander has been shot dead by masked assailants in front of his house in southwestern Iran. Crucially, he was a mid-range to possibly top commander of the IRGC’s hardline domestic wing, the Basij militia, and a close ally of recently assassinated Quds Force chief Qassem Soleimani, reports state news IRNA on Wednesday.
The details clearly suggest that it was an assassination — at this point by an unknown entity or group — given two men riding a motorcycle drove by and essentially executed him in the street.
He must have had dirt on the Clintons.

“They were slapped last night but such actions are not enough,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei wrote soon after the attack. “The corruptive presence of the US in the region of West Asia must be stopped #SevereRevenge,” Khamenei wrote in a subsequent post.
If tensions escalate further, the U.S. homeland could be a potential target of an Iran-sponsored attack, based on an Investigative Project on Terrorism report on criminal prosecutions of Iranian operatives and those of its Lebanese proxy Hizballah.

The shooter opened fire in a classroom building on Friday morning, which suggests he was on the base for a reason. The assailant managed to kill three others before he was killed by officers with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, who arrived on the scene and fatally shot the suspect after exchanging gunfire. FBI and ATF agents also responded to the scene.
At least eight others, including two police officers, were wounded in the cross-fire.

It has been widely reported that Usman Khan, the London Bridge terrorist, was released from prison in December 2018 after serving half of the term to which he was sentenced in 2012. Khan was one of a group of nine jihadists who were arrested in 2010 for plotting to blow up the London Stock Exchange. They also contemplated “Mumbai-style” terrorist attacks, and one of the plotters had a hit list that included the names and addresses of the Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral, Boris Johnson (then Mayor of London), two rabbis–naturally–and the US Embassy in London.
The Daily Mail now reports that of the nine, only two are still in prison, while the remaining six were released, like Khan, well before their terms had been served. Their whereabouts are unknown.

There are about 5,000 members of the U.S. military, mostly airmen, stationed at the huge, strategically located air base in Incirlik, Turkey, northwest of the Syrian border.
The American forces at Incirlik are also the custodians of about 50 B61 nuclear bombs. Data on these weapons is classified, but at their maximum yield each is ten times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, according to Stars and Stripes.
It’s a “Dr. Strangelove” scenario: No one quite knows how the American contingent could manage to secretly remove the deadly nukes from their concrete vaults, bring them out to the tarmac, load them on planes and fly them out safely over Turkish objections.

More Nigerian leader are admitting the obvious; that Boko Haram violence continues because so many federal officials, military commanders and northern politicians cripple the counter-terrorism effort with corrupt practices. Too many Nigerian see the expensive effort to defeat Boko Haram as an opportunity to make (steal) money. The corruption up these is no secret and there have already been several newsworthy incidents where corruption was revealed or troops openly protested the dishonesty and incompetence of their leaders. Then there was the embarrassing situation of American aid being sought and the U.S. refusing to send any equipment because, based on past performance, it would soon become inoperable, or just disappear, because of the chronic corruption. Generals and politicians tried to depict that as a deliberate insult to Nigeria but most Nigerians agreed with the Americans.

A stateless people comprised of a large number of Sunni Muslims is being bombarded by a country with an overwhelming military advantage. It’s the kind of thing that normally has American Islamist groups organizing protests and lighting up social media feeds.
But this time the aggressor is Turkey’s authoritarian leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a man who has positioned himself as a defender of violent Palestinian terrorists like Hamas, and as a patron for Muslim Brotherhood leaders who sought refuge from Egypt’s military rulers. He is bombing Kurdish targets in northern Syrian and has sent his troops into the country.

It’s an alarming oversight with terrifying implications: The intelligence unit of Paris Police somehow overlooked a radicalized Islamic convert within their own ranks. Last week, the troubled individual in question carried out an attack inside Paris Police headquarters that ended with four victims stabbed to death, while the attacker was shot down by his former colleagues.
WSJ has the full the story of how Mickaël Harpon, the 45-year-old attacker in question, evolved from a quiet IT expert into a disaffected convert to Salafism – a fundamentalist version of Islam that is widely credited as the inspiration for Al Qaeda and other terror groups.
