One Response to “Death Toll Mounts as Syrian Army & Turkey Engage in Heavy Clashes on Border”
There’s an old saying that if you come across a big kettle of crazy, don’t stir it up.
Getting involved in a no-win situation is a fool’s game.
Remember Reagan pulling out of Lebanon? Do a little research and you’ll find that Eisenhower refused to get involved in China and then Indochina (for the French) because he recognized the futility. Smart guys. Pick your fights, set the rules, make changes as necessary.
One of the most important plans that need to be in place before you enter a combat zone is an exit strategy. Another important item is defining exactly what will constitute “winning”. At present, we seem to be using Charlie Sheen’s definition of “winning” in too many combat areas. In Syria, there is no “winning”, by anyone’s definition. Hasn’t been such a thing in millennia.
