Is a career as an assistant liaison to athletic maintenance to the task force on employee partnerships in your future? Or how about as an associate provost for the deputy provost for facilities climate for the subcommittee for investor partnerships? It pays well — $393,369 a year.

Those are some of the job titles produced by the University Title Generator, a website that pokes fun at administrative bloat at colleges and the creative job titles it has spawned (and, perhaps on a less amusing note, the hefty salaries that come with some of those titles).

“Damning indictment of the corporatization of higher education, or career finder?” the website’s description reads. “You decide!”

The Divorce Revolution Has Bred An Army Of Woman Haters

20th May 2016

Funny how the ‘progressive’ agenda seems to cause more problems that it solves….

Above all, for men, marriage equals a soul-destroying divorce: “talk to the men in MGTOW who have had their wallets ripped out their a** in family court. Go to the graves of men who killed themselves after they were unemployed and couldn’t afford child support and faced jail. Talk to those men about how wonderful marriage was… Ask them about the hundreds of hours they work extra each year to avoid going to prison because they owe so much child support or alimony that they gotta move in with their parents.”

Trump’s Problem With Women

19th May 2016

Ann Coulter is the Mikhail Baryshnikov of sarcasm.

First — and this is corroborated by five contemporaneous witnesses — in 1978, Trump violently raped Juanita Broaddrick in a Little Rock, Arkansas, hotel room, then, as he was leaving, looked at her bloody lip and said, “Better put some ice on that” — oh wait, I’m terribly sorry. Did I say Trump? I didn’t mean Trump, I meant Bill Clinton.
Hang on — here we go! Knowing full well about Bill Clinton’s proclivity to sexually assault women, about three weeks after that rape, Trump cornered Broaddrick at a party and said, pointedly, “I just want you to know how much Bill and I appreciate the things you do for him. Do you understand? Everything you do.”

No! My mistake! That wasn’t Trump either. That was Hillary Clinton. … But this next one I’m sure was Trump.

NYT: “Murder Rates Jump in Many Major U.S. Cities, New Data Shows”

13th May 2016

Steve Sailer connects the dots.

You’ll note that almost all of these cities are run by Democrats.

Another thing that might be going on is that the Mexican heroin dealers have started pushing smack in the big cities, stirring up the black gangs. Sam Quinones’s book Dreamland reported that about a half decade ago, Mexican heroin dealers were concentrating on selling heroin in white rural areas because nobody important in America much cares about white hillbillies quietly dying of overdoses (you’ll notice that nobody talked about the White Death in the media until the new Nobel Economics laureate Angus Deaton brought it up right after he won his award). But, according to Quinones, back then Mexican heroin retailers considered African Americans to be hotheaded and violent and thus to be avoided.

But that kind of prudence among foreign drug dealers can seldom last, and now Mexican heroin is spreading to black ghettos, with predictable results in terms of blacks shooting blacks.

The Partnership Between Colleges and Helicopter Parents

13th May 2016

Read it.

Parents of college students are rarely studied. However, many U.S. universities, particularly those lacking the deep pockets and extensive resources of elite privates, have come to rely on parents to fill numerous financial, advisory, and support functions.

Most—but not all—of the parents in my sample fell neatly into several categories. About two-fifths were “helicopter” parents like Andrea and Alexis, regarded in the media as among the most reviled figures of 21st-century parenting—pesky interlopers who test the patience of school officials, meddle with university affairs, and raise a generation of “coddled,” “entitled,” and “under-constructed” youth.

We couldn’t have bad schools without bad parenting.

Yet intensive parenting is, in many ways, a logical response to the harsh risks facing young people during college and early adulthood. Increasing income inequality, high rates of young-adult unemployment, and a decline in stable and well-paying entry-level jobs loom threateningly in the foreground. Declines in state and federal support for higher education, coupled with rising administrative costs in a complex regulatory environment, have led to skyrocketing tuition. Additionally, the sheer diversity of academic and social options, particularly at large public universities, makes it easy for college students to make costly mistakes. Involved parents provide insurance against risk.

And so-called ‘journalists’ who perform as enablers — such as this one.

‘A Collective Blind Spot’

12th May 2016

The Other McCain pulls no punches.

Most parents fail to understand that the educational bureaucracy profoundly hostile to parental sovereignty. Your children are actually their children, the “progressive” educator has been trained to believe. The public school system in America is a union-controlled apparatus of the Democrat Party, operated by cultural Marxists who despise Christianity and capitalism. If you are a Christian who is trying to raise your children with decent moral values, keep them far away from the government education bureaucracy. Public school teachers hate you, and they consider it their professional duty to teach your children to hate you, too.

Two words: Home. School.

Beyond that, remember: Feminists hate your sons. Feminists want your sons to fail in school. Feminists don’t want your sons to go to college. Feminists don’t want your sons to have professional careers. Feminism is about achieving “equality” by destroying opportunity for your sons.

For Some on the Left, All’s Fair When Battling the Right

11th May 2016

Read it.

‘Some’? Try ‘most’.

“Eliminationist” might be a good word for this censorious attitude. Most liberals and progressives aren’t eliminationists, they favor debate and still believe in the competition of ideas. But in all corners of the Modern Left, you can find the imperious types who are simply done arguing, or, as the President says, “We know what works. We know what we have to do. We’ve just got to put aside the stale and outmoded debates.”

Colleges across the country have begun to roll out speech codes, and to disinvite speakers whose views are foreign to the liberal majority of the student body and the faculty. (President Obama, to his credit, warned colleges against this latter pernicious trend.) The colleges’ argument: Unpleasant views are inherently discriminatory or bigoted, and they might trigger sensitive students.

Democracy Is Dead in Britain

11th May 2016

Read it.

The naming of the Royal Research Ship (RRS) attracted huge interest after the Natural Environment Research Council encouraged Britons to come up with suggestions, leading to a stream of light-hearted ideas such as RRS Usain Boat, RRS I Like Big Boats&I Cannot Lie and RRS Watch Out For The Iceberg.

Backed by a social media campaign, Boaty McBoatface easily topped an online poll with more than 124,000 votes, although even the instigator of the Boaty name later apologized for his suggestion.

However, the government decided that the state-of-the-art ship, which is due to set sail in 2019, would be named after Attenborough, 89, famed for his BBC TV natural history programs spanning six decades and whose name had attracted 11,000 votes.

Yeah, we’ll allow democracy except where it crosses the opinions of the Great and the Good.

Chinese State Entities Argue They Have ‘Sovereign Immunity’ in U.S. Courts

Some Chinese state-owned entities, backed by the key government agency that oversees major state industrial companies, have adopted a controversial defense when they face U.S. lawsuits: You can’t touch us because we enjoy sovereign immunity.

That’s a one-trick pony; once an entity claims ‘sovereign immunity’, even if the claim is successful, it can be barred from further doing business in that jurisdiction, as happens when diplomats are sent home for breaking host-country law.

‘Shady Persons of Color’: College Protesters Apply Scornful Tag to Dissenting Minorities

11th May 2016

A group of liberal activists at Claremont McKenna College in California called out minority students and faculty who disagreed with their cause by placing them on a “shady person of color” list, the Claremont Independent reports.

My, what a surprise! Aren’t you surprised? I’m sure surprised.

The list includes the names of minority CMC students and faculty who protest leaders believe have disrespected their movement by expressing some form of disagreement with the protesters. The “King” SPOC was Brandon Gonzalez, the assistant dean of admissions, who led a diversity initiative that protesters found problematic. “Queen” SPOC Hannah Oh was the editor-in-chief of the Claremont Independent, the campus paper, who criticized the protesters’ tactics in an op-ed.

SJWs Create ‘Shady Person of Color’ List to Target Dissenters

10th May 2016

Read it.

During the height of the racial protests at Claremont McKenna College last November, CMCers of Color issued a list of demands including the resignation of Dean Spellman and the establishment of a permanent “safe space” that would function as a Resource Center for students from marginalized backgrounds.

The student group wrote an official proposal to the administration, but also created a private Google doc with other miscellaneous items they wanted for their safe space, such as kitchen items and a sound system.

Among this list is a Shady Person of Color (SPOC) board, which includes a royal court of five members of the CMC community who opposed the group. Brandon Gonzalez, the King SPOC, is the Assistant Dean of Admissions. Gonzalez led the diversity initiative that CMCers of Color felt misrepresented CMC. The Queen SPOC, Hannah Oh (CMC ’15), was the Editor-in-Chief of the Claremont Independent at the time, and coauthored an editorial critiquing the protestors’ tactics. In a similar vein, Nathan Tsai (CMC ’17), the “Ignorant SPOC,” wrote a letter that garnered 277 signatures in opposition to the protestors’ demands.

I Am Going to Vote for Trump Though It Makes Me Want to Projectile Vomit

10th May 2016

Kurt Schlichter states the obvious.

But I have principles too, and a key one is not electing a man-hating progressive fascist who has the liberal infrastructure behind her that can make her goose-stepping dreams actually come true. Trump is a one-off loner who Congress could contain. Hillary Clinton has eager allies and potentially the Senate and, God forbid, the House behind her. She’s just malignant and stupid enough to start people shooting, while all Trump could do is get us yelling. Slight advantage, Trump.

Just so. Trump is one man, and one man, even with our current Imperial Presidency, can’t do as much damage as Hillary, who is merely the figurehead for an evil movement that needs to be stopped.

As the knowledge economy becomes increasingly spiky, concentrated, and urban, some of America’s most expensive cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Boston have become even more unaffordable. But the burden of escalating housing costs is not spread evenly, hitting some groups harder than others. As the affluent and the talented crowd into these urban centers, less advantaged families, those who don’t yet own a home, and younger people have trouble staying in or moving to cities, and many are pushed out.

Many Americans Renounce Citizenship, Even Before President Trump

6th May 2016

Read it.

It seems crazy to call it the ‘New Normal’, but once again, record numbers of Americans are renouncing citizenship. Every three months, the Treasury Department publicly names individuals who renounced. It is surely more about FATCA, the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act enacted in 2010,  than it is about politics. Still, numbers are flying, with one poll saying that 1 in 4 Americans would consider leaving if Trump is elected. Others claim they will leave if Hillary is elected.

In reality, of course, most who bristle about politics are not serious. And for those who are, they surely mean a temporary move, not a final exit. In contrast, giving up citizenship is a big deal. Yet the number of published expatriates for the first three months of 2016 was a record 1,158. In 2015, there were approximately 4,300 expatriations. Comparing present to past suggests that Americans renouncing citizenship have risen 560% from their Bush administration high. There are now 18 times as many renouncers as in 2008.

Why a Trump-Backing Tow Truck Driver Says He Refused Service to a Sanders Supporter

5th May 2016

Read it.

Live by Identity Politics, die by Identity Politics.

“Every business dealing in recent history that I’ve had with a socialist-minded person, I haven’t got paid,” Shupe told the station.

He added: “Every time I’ve dealt with these people in recent history, I get ‘Berned.’

“With an ‘e,’ not a ‘u.’ ”

So Shupe refused to tow her.

“He said ‘I can’t tow you, you’re a Bernie supporter,’ ” the woman, Cassandra McWade, told The Post on Thursday. “And I was like, ‘Wait, are you serious?’ ”

He was.

So it was not just politics, but recent experience.

Fox Carolina reported: “When he saw ‘a bunch of Bernie Sanders stuff’ he said he told the woman, ‘very politely,’ ” that he could not “tow her car because she was ‘obviously a socialist’ and advised her to ‘call the government’ for a tow.”

Now that’s comedy.

Shupe told the ABC station that he’d had “some horrible experiences in the last six months with towing cars for this mindset individuals,” in which, he said, he hasn’t received payment for services.

“They want to argue about a $50 tow bill, and it turns into just a drama and a fuss,” he said, according to WLOS. “And I said, you know, I’m not going to associate with them, and I’m not going to do any business with them.”

Hoist with their own you-know-what.

Unreasoners

5th May 2016

Freeberg nails it yet again.

But my observation is about normal people. So, those who go by this label, are involved in arguments a lot more, and they use reasoning a lot less. Taking all of the above definitions into account and applying it to everyday situations, we might think of “reasoning” as traversing a sort of route on a map, with facts at one end, conclusions at the other.

It’s pretty hard to live an adult life, even for a day or so, without doing some of this. So how do they get around doing it? Part of it is, conclusions are really just opinions, and to an emotionally-invested liberal there’s no distinction to be made between facts vs. opinions. In their world, this stuff is all in the same salad bowl, it’s all just something you say to make people agree with you.

Their enduring position, and their attitude, is “accept it uncritically or else I shall call you a troglodyte.” Or something worse: Bigot, sexist, racist, homophobe. Mere insults carry a threat of social shunning, but the “ist” words carry a threat of vocational ostracism. Using plain simple words, that means career-death. That actually means something to a conservative.

Van Jones Admits Dems Need Minorities to Remain Poor and Resentful

4th May 2016

Read it.

Ensuring that Democrats continue to receive black votes in a monolithic block, it is in their interest for blacks to remain poor and resentful, which is why agitators like Jones work overtime to keep racism alive and boiling. If blacks in larger numbers entered the middle class, more of them would likely start voting Republican. No wonder the left makes sure to reinforce the idea that your skin color or ethnicity should determine your ideology and your vote, and why dissenters like Clarence Thomas are demonized. It’s rare to see this  implicitly acknowledged. Jones is right to be scared.

Crowdsourced data on the site shows that the average UK salary decreased 3.4 per cent to £32,899 in April compared to £34,055 in March. The retail sector has been hit hardest, with an 8.9 per cent drop in salary month-on-month, pushing the average salary in retail down to £28,762.

Hillary Clinton vs. Donald Trump? The Winner Is…the Oligarchy

3rd May 2016

Read it.

This presidential election may have been driven by populist fever in both parties, but at the end, the campaign has left the nation’s oligarchs in better position than ever. As Bernie Sanders now marches to his own inevitable defeat, leaving the real winners those oligarchs—notably in tech, media, urban real estate and on Wall Street—who are among Hillary Clinton’s most reliable supporters.

With either Ted Cruz, or , more likely, Donald Trump, as the GOP nominee, the emerging post-industrial ruling class will have little to no reason to even consider breaking with the Democrats. It’s already clear that companies such as Facebook consider it their duty to stop Trump, and there is a growing tendency among social media firms, including Twitter, to censor unpopular right-wing views.

Clinton, by outlasting Sanders, has done the oligarchs’ dirty work for them. As Greg Ferenstein, who has been surveying Internet billionaires in the Bay Area notes, the tech elite—much like media and Wall Street—have no sympathy for Sanders’s social democracy. After all, it’s much harder to become a mega-billionaire if tax rates for the wealthy soar; much better to show your commitment to things like gender equality, gay rights, climate change from the comfort of San Francisco or Manhattan luxury apartments or soaking in the hot tub in Malibu, Boulder, the Hamptons, or Los Altos hills.

Purity and Tolerance: The Contradictory Morality of College Campuses

2nd May 2016

Read it.

Increasingly college students throughout the United States complain of perceived slights they call microaggressions, they demand safe spaces where they can be protected from harmful ideas, and they ask for trigger warnings to alert them to course material that might cause discomfort. We have argued that these are all manifestations of victimhood culture — a morality in which people display a high sensitivity to slight, handle conflicts by appealing to authorities, and seek to portray themselves as weak and in need of help. Older moral injunctions to ignore minor and unintentional offenses get cast aside, and those who successfully identify as victims or allies of victims gain a kind of moral status.

The technical term for ‘victims’ is prey, and in the Real World prey get eaten. God help these people if they ever get out in the Real World.

Arizona Law’s Embrace of GRE Draws Ire of LSAT-Maker

2nd May 2016

Read it.

University of Arizona College of Law’s decision to make the Law School Admission Test optional has put the school at odds with the powerful national nonprofit group that administers the exam and controls much of the law-school application process nationwide.

One of the distinguishing characteristics of the bureaucratic state is that it is not enough to be qualified to perform a certain function, one must have the correct credentials from the correct credentialing agency in order to be allowed to perform that function.

Last month, LSAC’s general counsel notified Arizona Law that the school’s new policy may violate its bylaws, which require that “substantially all of” a law school’s applicants take the LSAT.

The letter said the group is considering expelling Arizona Law from its membership, which would effectively cut off the school’s access to a crucial student admissions pipeline. The question of Arizona Law’s membership will be taken up at an LSAC board of trustees scheduled this week, the letter said. The board is made up of mostly law school deans and law professors.

Typically the Crust enforces such gateways by law or, when an appropriated law can’t be purchased, a set of semi-legal hoops to jump through that have the same effect. This ensures that all of the relevant apparatchiks are the Right Sort of People.

Black Residents Matter

1st May 2016

Read it.

Black lives matter, we’re told—but in many American cities, black residents are either scarce or dwindling in number, chased away by misguided progressive policies that hinder working- and middle-class people. Such policies more severely affect blacks than whites because blacks start from further behind economically. Black median household income is only $35,481 per year, compared with $57,355 for whites. The wealth gap is even wider, with median black household wealth at only $7,133, compared with $111,146 for whites, according to a study by Demos and the Institute on Assets and Social Policy.

How, then, are cities faring in meeting the aspirations of their black residents, judged especially by the ultimate barometer: whether blacks choose to move to these cities, or stay in them? Among major American cities, three main typologies emerge: the high-flying progressive enclaves of the West, the historically large cities of the Northeast and the Midwest, and the fast-growing boomtowns of the South. Though results vary to some extent, the broad trend is clear: the most progressive-minded cities are either seeing a significant exodus of blacks or, never having had substantial black populations, are failing to attract them. These same cities, home to some of the loudest voices alleging conservative insensitivity to blacks, are failing to provide economic environments where blacks can prosper.

All of these sources can be accessed through clickable hyperlinks (the underlined text).

Because, as we all know, games are played almost exclusively by young women, and nobody would have believed an all-male panel.
