Steubenville City Manager James Mavromatis told local mediathat a gunman ambushed the judge as he entered the courthouse Monday morning. Bruzzese, who was armed, returned fire at the assailant. An unnamed probation officer at the scene also fired on the would-be assassin. The gunman was killed, though it is not clear who fired the fatal shot. Police have not yet released the shooter’s identity.

If it had been a “Gun Free Zone”, they’d both be dead now.

Everett Glenn Miller, 45, was arrested and charged with first degree murder in the killing of Officers Sam Howard and Matthew Baxter.

They’ve been all over recently.  Yes, sure, there are many minorities online, who, having fully imbibed the Kool-Aid, are now merrily calling everyone a Nazi on the slimmest of pretexts.  But most such offenders are in fact lily white and convinced of their own special wonderfulness.  It was a lily white and, if I had to guess, upper middle class young man who took it upon himself to tell me I should be grateful to Antifa for saving me from vile speech.

On Quilette last week, four scientists across the fields of psychology and neuroscience largely agreed with Damore’s findings. Neuroscientist Debra Soh wrote in to say that she “didn’t find the memo offensive or sexist in the least.”

UW physics associate Chanda Prescod-Weinstein disagrees, calling the memo a product of “shoddy science.” Campus Reform reported Monday that the researcher first voiced her argument on Slate before taking matters to Twitter, where she devalued the importance of peer-reviewed research.

The brief clip below is an excerpt from a longer RT video that someone has modified by steadying it as much as possible and zooming in. In it you’ll see the car driven yesterday by James Fields, just before it ran into a crowd of counter-protesters in Charlottesville. The cameraman is on the east sidewalk of 4th Street, looking south towards Water Street. The point of view is just south of the pedestrian area of the Downtown Mall, as indicated by the newspaper boxes that briefly come into view on the left. The car that Mr. Fields’ car eventually rammed is farther down, hidden by the clot of pedestrians.

Watch closely as a counter-protester holding a bat swings it with both arms against the back of Mr. Fields’ Dodge.

‘Counter-protester’, of course, being a euphemism for ‘antifa rioter’.

The camera’s view of the car is foreshortened by distance and the effect of the zoom. However, it is apparent that the car was NOT traveling at a high rate of speed prior to being hit by the bat. The driver seemed to be proceeding with caution, as would be appropriate when driving on a street packed with rowdy pedestrians.

If you’ve seen any of the videos showing the impact of Mr. Fields’ Dodge with the back of the second car, you know how fast he was traveling when he ripped through that crowd. At some point after his car was hit with the bat, he must have floored it.

You won’t see any of that in the DemLegHump Media, of course.

I am writing about Google’s firing of Damore for daring to speak the truth because it is of a piece with the left’s political modus operandi:

• Fixate on an objective, regardless of its lack of feasibility (e.g. proportional representation of various demographic groups — but not Asians or Jews — in STEM fields), lack validity (e.g., the demonstrated inaccuracy of climate models that lean heavily on the effects of atmospheric CO2); or consequences (e.g., high failure rates among under-qualified “minorities”, lower standards that affect the quality of output and even endanger lives, the futile use of expensive “renewable” energy sources in place of carbon-based fuels).
• Insist that attainment of the objective will advance liberty, equality, fraternity, or prosperity.
• Demand punishment for those who question the objective, thereby suppressing liberty; fostering false equality; engendering resentments that undermine fraternity; and diminishing prosperity.

What happened to James Damore is what happens where leftists control the machinery of the state. (Be mindful that Hitler was a leftist, as I explain and document in “Leftism“.)

Political Correctness that is too much even for David Brooks. How weird is that?

There are many actors in the whole Google/diversity drama, but I’d say the one who’s behaved the worst is the C.E.O., Sundar Pichai.

What we have is a legitimate tension. Damore is describing a truth on one level; his sensible critics are describing a different truth, one that exists on another level. He is championing scientific research; they are championing gender equality. It takes a little subtlety to harmonize these strands, but it’s doable.

Everybody gets his own truth and a participation trophy. That’s the Social Justice Warrior way.

Of course subtlety is in hibernation in modern America. The third player in the drama is Google’s diversity officer, Danielle Brown. She didn’t wrestle with any of the evidence behind Damore’s memo. She just wrote his views “advanced incorrect assumptions about gender.” This is ideology obliterating reason.

Let’s put her in the cell next to Pichai. Can’t discriminate on the basis of sex, you know.

I would refuse to work for any company that had a ‘diversity officer’.

The mob that hounded Damore was like the mobs we’ve seen on a lot of college campuses. We all have our theories about why these moral crazes are suddenly so common. I’d say that radical uncertainty about morality, meaning and life in general is producing intense anxiety. Some people embrace moral absolutism in a desperate effort to find solid ground. They feel a rare and comforting sense of moral certainty when they are purging an evil person who has violated one of their sacred taboos.

Proglodyte Puritanism is all about burning heretics, not about anything productive.

Regardless which weakness applies, this episode suggests he should seek a nonleadership position. We are at a moment when mobs on the left and the right ignore evidence and destroy scapegoats. That’s when we need good leaders most.

A man described by neighbors as “quarrelsome” and who placed large anti-Trump signs in his yard is in police custody for the murder of his next-door neighbor – a GOP committeeman.

Police in West Goshen Township, PA, charged Clayton Carter, 51, in the shooting death of his next-door neighbor, G. Brooks Jennings in the early morning hours on Tuesday, according to ABC Philadelphia.

The Czech Republic took legal action Friday against the European Union’s plans to restrict gun ownership in member states.

The European Parliament passed a new directive to limit access to semi-automatic weapons earlier this year in response to terrorism. The Czech Republic has simultaneously moved to make guns more accessible for the very same the reason.

The correct reaction is, of course, to point out that the ‘diversity’ embraced by the Politically Correct is diversity in those least important physical characteristics, appearance, and sacrifices the only diversity that will actually work to accomplish the supposed goals of the ‘diversity’ crusaders, diversity of thought. This dichotomy needs to be hammered home at every opportunity in every forum available to those who value truth above totalitarian uniformity.

Police union leaders in New York City called for a boycott of all Dunkin’ Donuts after a worker at a Dunkin’ Donuts/Baskin-Robbins in the city refused service to two NYPD detectives last Friday, The New York Post reported.

According to The Post, a Brooklyn Dunkin’ Donuts clerk told two NYPD officers, “I don’t serve cops.”

In Congo President Joseph Kabila remains in power and continues to ignore the December 31 2016 agreement he signed in which he promised to allow elections and comply with the constitution and not proceed with his plans to remain president-for-life. This crises began when Kabila refused to step down at the end of his second elected term in December 2016. The constitution limits him to two terms. He won the elections in 2006 and 2011, but he claims his first term really didn’t count so he can run again. National elections to replace him were supposed to be held in November 2016 but Kabila’s government intentionally delayed preparing for the election until it was too late.

The key moment in the self-destruction of the once great American city of Detroit over the past half century can be dated precisely to July 23, 1967, when blacks began the Detroit Riot. Before 4,700 paratroopers from the U.S. Army’s 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions finally halted the orgy of criminality, African Americans had looted 2,500 stores and burned down 400 buildings in their own neighborhoods.

The next year, 80,000 whites moved out of Detroit. (In 2017, the total population of Detroit is almost a million lower than fifty years ago.)

And who could blame them? (Well, the Left, of course, but they would have done that anyway.)

For example, the opening text for the new movie Detroit, which opens nationally on Friday, pins the blame for the black riot of 1967 on the economic devastation caused by the 22,000 whites who had presciently left Detroit the year before, apparently taking all the magic dirt with them, leaving only the tragic dirt.

Evidently black people need some white people around to blame, otherwise they cannot succeed at anything.

Threats of violence against the owners of a Pennsylvania Bridal shop over their religious objection to LGBT marriage have caused the shop to shut down.

The co-owner of W.W. Bridal Boutique, Victoria Miller, said the shop would only be taking appointments and would not be open for walk-ins due to threats against Miller and the shop for their refusal to serve a lesbian couple July 8, according to The Christian Post (CP). LGBT advocates criticized the shop in 2014 for their policy of not accommodating LGBT weddings according to their Christian beliefs. This time the situation escalated, according to a voicemail provided to CP by Rich Penkoski, a pastor who is assisting the owners of the shop at this time.

“You stupid f*****g bigots. We are coming for you and your family,” a man said in the voicemail. “We are going to tear your shop a part and make you feel as bad as you have made people feel. You f****** bigot scum. You are going down and so is all your employees and their families. You’re done!”

Apparently ‘toxic masculinity’ doesn’t just affect men.

Terrible roads mean that, even when AIDS and other drugs are shipped to African countries, few people receive them. Many sit in warehouses until their expiration date passes, and then those expired drugs get sold on the black market. People buy them, and die. Other times, they take drugs until they feel better, and then sell the rest of the prescription. Then a more deadly, resistant malaria comes back and makes them even worse.

And yet global green campaigners endlessly spend money trying to prevent Africans from using fossil fuels, promoting renewable energy and trying to sell us little solar ovens. But this great generosity does nothing to address the horrible realities of people dying now – day after day, year after year. Greens worry constantly about Africans being exposed to insecticides. We worry about dying from malaria.

We don’t need enemies of humanity. What we need is financial and political support to conquer malaria, lung diseases and intestinal parasites. We need clean water and affordable, reliable electricity in our villages and cities. We need modern hospitals.

We need environmental activists to realize how important fossil fuels and hydroelectric plants are to having decent, healthy living standards, lights, computers, the internet, clean hospitals, clean water, and everything else modern countries have.
