Rush Limbaugh sums it up: Leftist white people and black people who have never been slaves are fighting with white people who have never been Nazis over Confederate monuments set up by Democrats.

So I guess all those people who call themselves Nazis are mistaken?

Probably. I doubt that any of them know what ‘Nazi’ means, only that it something your crowd don’t like.
And there are plenty of white people who have never been Nazis, but your crowd don’t care to make the distinction.

I suspect that part of the problem is that when the conservatives speak of Nazis, they mean the National Socialist Party (Nazi) that brought a particularly bad guy named Hitler to power in the 1930’s and then was pretty much completely crushed and destroyed by mid-1945.
When the Left says Nazi, they mean “anybody who disagrees with me”. When they say, “Hitler”, they mean “some guy who does things I don’t like”. Somehow – and I really don’t connect with a legitimate reason – the Left has managed to avoid taking a history class or reading a book that would help them to understand Hitler or the Nazi party. For example, if Trump (“some guy who does things they don’t like”) says, “Maybe we should keep our Confederate monuments to remember part of our history.”, the Left responds with, “See! Just like Hitler!!” This leaves conservatives very confused as that doesn’t seem anything even remotely like invading Poland or gassing Jews.
