The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Atlanta’s interim Police Chief Rodney Bryant was about to address the City Council on the unrest plaguing the city when a councilman informed Bryant:
I was just notified there was a young man who was just shot and killed at 377 Westchester Boulevard. Can you get a unit out there? He’s been on the ground and there’s no police who have come. He’s dead already, he’s on the ground and the residents have put a sheet over him and the police still haven’t arrived.

The most shocking aspect of the wave of rioting and destruction that has been unleashed on many of our American cities in the wake of George Floyd’s death is not that there is an underlying discontent with the rate of progress in racial equality. That is understandable. What is not is the way that mayors, governors and members of Congress have not just tolerated, but endorsed, mob violence as an acceptable weapon of social change.

Gerth died Saturday night after he was shot during a protest in Jefferson Square Park. The shooting occurred after Steven Lopez, 23, got in a dispute during the protest and came back with a gun, according to the Courier Journal’s report.

Over the years, we have periodically reported of the occasional gold bar discovered as counterfeit in Manhattan’s Diamond District which instead of containing the yellow precious metal would be filled with gold-plated tungsten or in some cases copper. The news would spark a brief wave of outrage, prompting physical gold holders to run ultrasound spot checks of their inventory, at which point interest would wane and why not: buyer, after all, beware in gold as in every other market, and if someone is spending thousands to buy fake gold, well that’s Darwinism in action.
Yet one market which seemed stubbornly immune to any counterfeiting was that of physical gold in China, which was odd considering that over the past decade China had emerged as the world’s biggest counterfeiter of various, mostly industrial metals used to secure bank loans, better known as “ghost collateral”, and which adding insult to injury, would frequently be rehypothecated meaning often several banks would have claims to the same (fake) asset.

As the commercial and residential real estate markets collapse in the coming months, the currently untenable financial situations of municipalities across the country are going to become catastrophic. The Fed preemptively promised months ago to cover the shortfalls, because the dollar is invincible and inflation is impossible so there’s nothing to worry about. Didn’t you see we trimmed the balance sheet a bit last week? Oh, the market dropped 3% over those five days? Purely coincidental!

It wasn’t meant to be funny but when you read Wednesday’s New York Times story about virtue-signaling liberals living in the Minneapolis neighborhood of Powderhorn Park trying to avoid calling police despite rising crime due to a new homeless encampment it comes off as hilarious inadvertent comedy. A big factor in the comedic entertainment is provided by Times reporter Caitlin Dickerson writing in all seriousness about how the besieged neighborhood liberals can enforce the law without actually calling law enforcement.

Manufacturing company 7-Sigma made headlines when it decided to leave Minneapolis as a result of the company’s plant being burned by rioters. “They don’t care about my business,”7-Sigma owner Kris Wyrobek old the Star-Tribune. After more than 30 years in the city, the company isn’t staying, nor are any of the company’s fifty jobs.
But the costs of being victimized in protests is just one of many reasons homeowners and businesses may be realizing life and business in central cities has lost its luster. The ongoing threat of more business lockdowns, more riots, higher taxes, and failing schools may induce many Americans to flee, once again, to the suburbs as their parents or grandparents did.
People used to prefer living in cities because that’s where the jobs were. They are beginning to realize that the jobs they find there aren’t worth the other disadvantages. The stayed because they needed a job, any job. But once they’ve lost their job, the barrier to leaving is vastly reduced. “If I’m going to need to find a job anyway, might as well do it in a safer community.”
This is especially true for the small-time entrepreneurs who run the little bodegas and delicatessens and hole-in-the-wall shops that don’t take a lot of startup money and survive because they’re a lot of potential customers around. But when the local NAM thugs can come through and destroy your life’s investment without the police or politicians giving a shit, that changes the situation significantly.

The Other McCain peers behind the curtain.
Twenty-five years ago, when a friend sent me a copy of Jean Raspail’s The Camp of the Saints, it was a book so taboo that you were considered racist merely for knowing of its existence. The 1973 novel, which imagines France invaded by a flotilla of refugees from the Indian subcontinent, pointed out how Western civilization had lost its will to survive, having become decadent, full of self-loathing and racial guilt.
Five years ago, however, when the Syrian civil war produced an influx of “refugees” into the European Union, suddenly Raspail’s novel was recognized as prophetic; even many liberals said the scenes in Europe were reminiscent of The Camp of the Saints. The election of Donald Trump and other politicial events indicative of a “nationalist” mood in the electorate seemed to validate much of Raspail’s critique.

The Sixties were driven in sizable measure by a very large cohort of young, bright Jewish Baby Boomers. A friend who taught at Yale in the 1960s said that the intellectual intensity of the freshman class ratcheted upwards notably from the freshmen of Fall 1964 (George W. Bush’s entering class) to Fall 1965, the first year when there was no quota holding down the percentage of Jews at Yale.
This year is the opposite, with childish lowbrow stupidities running amok, like the middle school idea of capitalizing Black but not white.

Minneapolis got away with being a liberal city for quite a while, but the rot was deep and the decline was inevitable. Now the city vies with Seattle, Chicago and Baltimore as a haven for crime. When the crime was limited to minority neighborhoods, Minneapolis’s city fathers–to the extent any are left–were willing to put up with it. But that is no longer true. Murder now reaches into the heart of “progressive” Minnesota.

This article is being published on the second day of what will likely be the longest summer in American history. After a hyper-claustrophobic national lockdown that took us from the end of winter to the cusp of summer, suddenly the blacks decided to get angry.
I jest, of course—not that the blacks are angry, but that they were the ones who made the decision. The decision was made for them through a meticulously managed plan of indoctrination and selective access to information.
They were told who to blame. And blame them they did. Ironically, they were told this BY the people who were actually to blame, but that’s the way it always works.

Father Daniel Moloney is the latest victim of cancel culture’s inquisition against all who question the Black Lives Matter movement. Moloney was forced out of his job as the Catholic chaplain of MIT last week after a university administrator deemed his writings on the death of George Floyd “deeply disturbing” and the Archdiocese of Boston asked him to resign.
In a blog post and an email to students published at the beginning of June, Moloney spoke out about the errors of the new approach to fighting racism — dividing people, accusing them of prejudice, and canceling those who disobey — and called instead for a Christian path of charity and solidarity.
Yeah, I can see how the New University and the New Catholic Church would have a problem with that.

CHAZ, alternately known as Soymalia, Wokidishu, and Antifastan, does not seem to be thriving. It’s now into the phase of drug overdose, theft, scarcity, factional warfare, and warlordism. And it has finally realized that its name is incredibly stupid, though its new name, CHOP, does not seem to be taking. The things run exclusively by the left–CHAZ, universities, schools, northern cities–do not exactly inspire confidence.
This week CHAZ ran into a food problem when its homeless population cleaned out the pantry. Like many a real-life communist nation, it took to begging for U.S. foreign aid:
“the homeles [sic] people we invited took away all the food at the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone. we need more food to keep the area operational. please if possible bring vegan meat substitutes, fruits, oats, soy products, etc.—anything to help us eat.”
The next step was to plant a vegetable garden, which elicited hilarity from people who know how to plant a vegetable garden.
Photos began to emerge of a vegetable garden in the middle of the zone. These photos revealed that this “garden” consisted of throwing a few inches of soil atop cardboard(?!) in the middle of a park, and then plopping a few seedlings on top of the soil. They don’t appear to have bothered to plant those seedlings, because why would you need to do that?
It then seems to have segregated its garden by race.
Here is a CHAZ TOURISM VIDEO from the Trump campaign.

Turns out the problem of police snuffing out blacks isn’t as serious a threat to black lives as black-on-black violence is. Nationwide, the police kill around 250 blacks each year. Civilian blacks, by comparison, kill ten times as many other blacks as the police do. Disband the police and that 250 figure drops to zero. But what happens to the 2,500 number when the police are gone? Does it increase by 50% to 3,750? Double to 5,000? It’s probably safe–er, dangerous–to assume it increases by a lot more than 250 black bodies, anyway.

he called herself Kalamity, though that’s not her real name. She’s the white woman who called me a racist for noting that Indigenous children who live in communities where parents own their homes tend to have a higher standard of living and care than those who live in reserve communities where property is owned communally. This was the day after she schooled me, a Desi, together with a Kenyan woman—the only two non-white individuals in our class—on the proper use of people-of-colour nomenclature.
“I’m not sure I like that phrase,” said the Kenyan woman.
I agreed. Of all the ways to describe oneself, why would I self-define as not white.
“Women of colour chose it,” Kalamity informed us. By this, I learned, she meant black intersectional feminists.

CCDH’s affiliate, Stop Funding Fake News, claimed on Wednesday that it had pressured Ford, the auto maker, to consider dropping ads on Breitbart News, another conservative website that the British non-profit has accused of publishing racist material.
Google ultimately backed off of its decision to kick The Federalist off of Google Ads, but CCDH appears emboldened nonetheless.

Boston, known as the “Athens of America” and the “Cradle of Liberty,” has, as was said of the Balkans, disparagingly, “produced more history than it can consume locally”. The City of Boston alone, compact and relatively small in the metropolitan area, has probably more historical monuments and statues than anyplace else in America except Washington, D.C.
During the recent Black Lives Matter riots, in addition to widespread looting and property damage, there was vandalism on a large scale all over the country. Confederate statues, of course; their day is done and I think, as Steve Hayward stated in PL, this is not the hill to die on for conservatives and Republicans. Columbus statues have long been on the left’s target list as well. The Columbus statue in Boston’s historic North End was, infamously, beheaded and the statue has been removed. Boston’s Public Garden holds the largest statuary monument in the city, of a magnificent George Washington astride a noble steed. It was not spared by the mob and its base was covered in graffiti.

If you step back and take a look at things, one of the things that stands out is just how primitive and superstitious the people are at the center of this crisis. It is not just in their appearance either.
