Many on the Left have long attempted to reframe the Christmas story to push their political agenda. They urge lax enforcement of immigration law by insisting that Jesus was a refugee. Now, they claim Jesus would be Palestinian today to undermine support for Israel’s response to Hamas’ massacre of innocents on Oct. 7.

On Christmas Eve, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the latest in a line of leftists to declare that Jesus, if born today, would be Palestinian.

He’d still be a Jew, and hence not a ‘Palestinian’ at all. The ‘Palestinians’ are Arabs, self-consciously so, and no more native to ‘Palestine’ than the Irish are to Nebraska.

“What we are seeing right now is the all-out assault on democracy,” Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold claimed in 2021.

“Everything we do every single day to ensure the American people can elect, freely choose their election officials,” the chair of the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State held forth in 2022. “We believe that democracy literally is on the ballot.”

In 2023, democracy is no longer on the ballot in Colorado because Griswold, who had spent every single year warning about an “assault on democracy”, launched an actual assault on democracy to ensure that people in Colorado would not be able to freely vote in elections.

Special Counsel Democratic Party activist Jack Smith has filed a motion in limine in his Washington, D.C. prosecution of Donald Trump for trying to reverse the apparent result of the 2020 election. The motion won’t be heard for a while, as the case is now on appeal. But Smith is desperate to get it tried in time to imprison Trump, or at least convict him, before the election. So he is doing all he can to preserve the impression that the case is on track.

What is Smith asking the court to do? He wants to bar several categories of evidence that he thinks Trump and his lawyers may try to introduce, including any suggestion that Smith’s prosecution is politically motivated. Smith invokes the danger of “disinformation”.

The idea that it is Trump who might “attempt to inject politics into this proceeding” is laugh-out-loud funny. Smith’s appointment, and everything he has done since, has been a political act on behalf of the Democratic Party. Apparently everyone except the yet-to-be-empaneled jury knows this.

Back when junk mail genius Morris Dees was running the Southern Poverty Law Center, the SPLC was pretty good at coming up with acronyms. For example, consider the cunning of the acronym “SPLC,” which no doubt confused some elderly donors into thinking Morris’s new 1970s operation was actually Martin Luther King’s venerable 1960s SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference) or the SCLC’s youth outgrowth, the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), which featured such worthies as John Lewis, Julian Bond, Stokely Carmichael, and Marion Barry.

But in 2019, Morris got booted out of the SPLC for his flagrant White Maleness. (He was then on his sixth wife, and I’ve been told he’s moved on to #7.) And even though Morris was already 82 then, it’s no surprise that I haven’t heard much from the SPLC ever since they dumped the old rogue. It’s been over 4 years, but they still haven’t found a black woman competent enough to be put in charge, so the SPLC’s current president and chief executive officer is named Margaret Huang, but that’s kind of embarrassing so you don’t hear much from her, or the SPLC in general anymore. The SPLC doesn’t give Ms. Huang her own web page. Instead, they put the 13 people who qualify as “Leadership” on one page in alphabetical order so Huang is listed #6.

Sure, the media and the White House still take seriously the SPLC’s blacklists of whom to hate. Nobody calls them the “scandal-plagued SPLC.” But the scandal-plagued SPLC is now just coasting on what Morris built.

In the village of Ilion, New York, 80 miles west of the state capital in Albany, residents are mourning the departure of gunmaker Remington Arms Co. after two centuries of continuous operation.

While most people forgot about Al Gore a decade ago, the 75-year-old environmental tycoon with a net worth in the hundreds of millions (also a former vice president) has doubled down on his flavor of green fascism in the name of saving the planet from everyone but himself.

Gore is making $2 million a month from his “green investment firm” which has been having some problems. Its assets fell from $39 billion to $30 billion and its biggest fund suffered a 28% decline. And investors may be rethinking whether a firm that pays Gore $2 million a month so it can claim it’s saving the planet by buying Microsoft, Amazon and Adidas stocks is worth it.

But Gore is keeping busy. At COP28, the UN climate summit, he demanded that voting rules be changed so that a majority of countries, rather than a full consensus of nations, could impose mandates on the United States and oil-producing nations. That means a bunch of third world countries would have veto power over our entire economy. Good for them, really bad for us.

Most Clarence Thomas hit pieces can’t stand up to perfunctory scrutiny. But the newest doesn’t even make any sense.

In a new article with five names in the byline, anti-Supreme Court outfit ProPublica takes a decades-old offhand complaint that Thomas made about his salary and spins it into a nefarious conspiracy. In 2000, Thomas apparently groused about his pay to a “vocal conservative,” then-Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla. (The justice was hardly alone. It was a big issue in the 2000s.)

This interaction, we are informed, “set off a flurry of activity across the judiciary and Capitol Hill.” By “flurry of activity,” ProPublica means a single memo in which the possibility of raising justices’ salaries was discussed.

Like all SCOTUS smears, the piece is loaded with performative journalistic jargon—”newly unearthed documents,” for instance—meant to make it look like ProPublica is engaging in acts of reporting rather than activism.

Former Attorney General Edwin Meese and two constitutional scholars claim the appointment of Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith was unconstitutional because he is holding a position that was never created by Congress.

In an amicus brief filed Wednesday with the Supreme Court, Meese and professors Steven Calabresi and Gary Lawson state that lower federal courts should dismiss all of Smith’s prosecutions, including all of his pending charges against former President Donald Trump.

“That appointment was unlawful, as are all the legal actions that have flowed from it, including citizen Smith’s current attempt to obtain a ruling from this Court,” the brief said.

California lieutenant governor Eleni Kounalakis (D.), the George Soros-backed candidate for governor in 2026, on Wednesday urged the state’s elections official to “explore every legal option” to boot former president Donald Trump from the primary ballot.

Kounalakis said she was inspired by Colorado’s all-Democrat supreme court, which in a split decision on Tuesday barred Trump from that state’s primary ballot on the grounds that the former president “engaged in insurrection.”

“California is obligated to determine if Trump is ineligible for the California ballot for the same reasons described in [the Colorado case],” Kounalakis wrote. “The Colorado decision can be the basis for a similar decision here in our state.”

Kounalakis’s letter comes as she tries to build her political profile in a bid to succeed Gavin Newsom as governor. Early this year, she became the first person to announce a run for the office. Democratic megadonor George Soros in June gave the maximum amount allowed to her campaign with a $36,400 contribution.

Journalist Judy Woodruff retired from the PBS NewsHour anchor desk in 2022, but spent 2023 on a cross-country tour filing reports on political polarization, some of which ended up in this year-ending hour-long election special America at a Crossroads, used as connective tissue to go along with new content.

The special’s thin patina of objectivity — there were limited mentions of Donald Trump — was amusingly broken by Woodruff herself, with some liberal slant via an archive clip nearly 40 years old, from Woodruff’s days reporting for PBS’s McNeil/Lehrer NewsHour (later to be renamed the PBS NewsHour).

A top law firm has decided to stop conducting on-campus interviews at Harvard due to the controversial congressional testimony of the school’s beleaguered president, Claudine Gay.

In testimony before the House Education and Workforce Committee, Gay avoided questions about whether students who advocate for the “genocide of Jews” violate the school’s code of conduct.

As a result of her testimony, the law firm Edelson PC will no longer participate in on-campus recruiting at Harvard Law School, the firm’s CEO Jay Edelson announced.

Two decades ago, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) said the Council on American-Islamic Relations has “ties to terrorism” and called for the federal government to cut ties with the controversial anti-Israel group. Schumer, now the Senate majority leader, has flip-flopped since then on CAIR, which is back in the national spotlight after its founder said he was “happy to see” Hamas attack Israel.

Last year, Schumer said in a letter of support for CAIR that the United States is “fortunate” the organization is “fighting for the sake of our freedoms.” In 2015, he applauded CAIR for its “determination to continue to spread humanity” and to “cultivate and encourage mutual understanding amongst Americans of all backgrounds and cultures,” according to a letter CAIR cited in fundraising literature.

That’s a far cry from what Schumer said during a 2003 Senate hearing, when he slammed CAIR’s leaders for having “intimate connections with Hamas” and said the group was known to have “ties to terrorism.” In 2009, Schumer submitted a letter to the FBI that noted CAIR was an unindicted co-conspirator in the prosecution of the Holy Land Foundation, a Hamas front group. Schumer said federal agencies ceasing work with CAIR “should be government-wide policy.”

A teachers’ union official affiliated with the National Education Association was arrested in Denver for shutting down a busy intersection outside of a prominent Jewish conference, records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show.

Alex Borenstein was among the 15 anti-Israel protesters arrested Sunday in Denver for shutting down Speer Boulevard, a major street located outside of the Colorado Convention Center, which was hosting the Global Conference for Israel. Borenstein—a self-avowed communist—serves as a northeast director for the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, an NEA affiliate that represents more than 4,000 public school teachers in the Colorado city. Borenstein himself serves as a union liaison for educators at more than 30 Denver-area schools, including at least 8 elementary schools.

Borenstein’s arrest shows that the proliferation of anti-Israel and anti-Semitic incidents and rhetoric is affecting American K-12 schools, not just college campuses. In one instance, a liberal school board president in upstate New York argued that Jews are to blame for the slave trade, a long-debunked anti-Semitic trope first advanced by Louis Farrakhan’s Nation of Islam. In another, a public school district in Massachusetts sent its teachers a resource that said “Israeli terrorism” has historically been “significantly worse than that of the Palestinians.”

Democrat Karen Smith took up her new position Monday night as the head of the Central Bucks School District and immediately moved to undo Republican-led, pro-parent, and pro-family policies. For the swearing-in ceremony, Smith chose to place her hand not on a Bible but on a stack of frequently banned books, including “Flamer,” “All Boys Aren’t Blue,” Beyond Magenta,” “Lily and Dunkin,” and “The Bluest Eye.”

Sixty years ago this week, on November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was gunned down, but the family’s political odyssey did not end there. JFK’s brother Robert F. Kennedy, who had served as attorney general, made a run for the White House but on June 5, 1968, but Jordanian immigrant Sirhan Sirhan shot RFK dead. That raised expectations for Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy.

In July of 1969, the “boiler room girls,” who had worked for Bobby Kennedy, gathered at Chappaquiddick Island for a drunken bash with Ted and his handlers. Ted took Mary Jo Kopechne, 28, for a ride in his cavernous 1967 Oldsmobile, but not to talk campaign strategy. The Massachusetts Democrat drove off a bridge, escaped the sunken vehicle, and abandoned Kopechne, who died by drowning.

As Steve notes, the New York Times has finally gone after Robert F. Kennedy Jr., member of a family that has been “ersatz American royalty” for 60 years. The great Paul Johnson, who died at 94 back in January, had some thoughts on the Kennedys in A History of the American People, published in 1998.

Patriarch Joe Kennedy, appointed by Franklin Roosevelt to run the Securities and Exchange Commission, was “a crook and known to be such,” and FDR called him “a very dangerous man.” Joe was a big booster of son John Fitzgerald Kennedy, better known as “Jack” but with key realities carefully concealed.

“Strictly speaking Jack was never fit to hold any important public office,” Johnson explains, “and the list of lies told about his body by the Kennedy camp over the years is formidable.” That was also true of his alleged body of work.

Anti-Israel, pro-Hamas protesters sure don’t like to be publicly identified with a cause they claim is righteous. Why is that?

The 100-plus congressional staffers who walked out of the Capitol on Nov. 8 to demonstrate their support for a ceasefire said they took action because they were “no longer comfortable staying silent.” But they wore masks to cover their faces.

Likewise, on college campuses, protesters have used keffiyehs to shield their identities and claimed that attempts to film the public protests amount to harassment.

Schools like Harvard and Columbia have made their views clear, forming “resource groups” for the doxxed. Harvard’s dean of students, Thomas Dunne, denounced doxxing as a “repugnant assault on our community.” His statement was less equivocal than university president Claudine Gay’s feeble attempts to condemn Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on Israel. No both-sidesism there!

Of course, there is nothing these schools can do to protect students from doxxing by the press—the Washington Free Beacon or anybody else. Instead, feckless administrators offer pablum and commissions to pacify angry and entitled students.

Radical ideology takes many forms: Marxist, Islamist, a combination of the two (termed the red-green alliance), anarchist, what was once called Third Worldist and is now rebranded “postcolonial theory,” intersectional and anti-TERF feminism, and so on. What too many variants share is a visceral attraction to fantasies of transformative, retributive violence.

In roughly psychoanalytic terms, they gravitate toward alibis for sadism, humiliation, and even outright murder of the hated, fantasized object or “other” standing in the way of their “progress.” They seek a “permission structure” to vent their spleen. According to René Girard, these befuddled victimizers of innocents—ironically enough, most convinced of their own moral purity in the very commission of their crime—hunger for sacrificial scapegoats, designated essentially arbitrarily as responsible for the ills of the world, and bond together as a solidaristic community of the (self-)righteous in the act of executing them together. And if they can’t actually be there for the event itself, they applaud as spectators from a distance.

Add to that the predominance of “woke” progressive ideology on the American college campus today—a wooly-minded mélange of every sort of anti-civilizational, anti-systemic “thought”—and what you get is the uninhibited cries of bloodlust, worthy of a proud troop of resentful Raskolnikovs on the loose, their shrieks echoing through the halls of academe. But will these pyromaniacs in expensive sneakers and fancy eyewear ever undergo Dostoevsky’s antihero’s redemptive acknowledgment of a guilty conscience? At present it seems doubtful.

Five years ago, congresswoman Susan Wild distanced herself from a population control group that has called for families to be “taxed to the hilt” for “irresponsible breeding.” But the Pennsylvania Democrat has quietly restored ties to the organization and praised it for “thoughtful and relentless advocacy” on the abortion issue.

For the past few years, many progressives have made it a high priority to impose on the superrich an annual wealth tax that takes hold even on those whose wealth declines in a given year—or, failing that, to impose a tax on unrealized income (i.e., simple accretions of wealth by people who have not sold or otherwise disposed of their property). These proposals looked to be off the table until the decision of the Supreme Court to hear Moore v. United States (2023) put the matter into high relief.

Moore started out as a technical tax dispute when the government sought to collect $14,729 in taxes from Charles and Kathleen Moore under the mandatory repatriation tax (MRT) part of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) of 2017 on income trapped in a corporation by the MRT’s regulations. But the case quickly attracted greater attention because the Moores claimed that the MRT tax was unconstitutional because gain had not been realized—that is, distributed from the corporation to the Moores.

The No Labels party on Thursday filed a lawsuit in Arizona seeking to block its ballot line from being used by Democrats who oppose the group’s efforts to launch a third-party ticket for president next year.

The lawsuit asks a federal judge in Phoenix to block Democratic Secretary of State Adrian Fontes from allowing people to run for offices other than president or vice president under the No Labels banner.

I am glad to see that most of the GOP presidential primary challengers are talking about the need to end and outlaw sanctuary polices in the United States. I wish they would go a step further and explain why sanctuary policies are bad for public safety, officer safety, and border security. The American people need to understand the critical nature of—and a good candidate needs to also understand and be able to articulate—such an important issue.

As the former director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, I often talked about sanctuary cities and how politicians who pushed them were dishonest with their communities. I often talked about how these jurisdictions undermined public safety, put the public in harm’s way, and made life harder and more dangerous for law enforcement. I have been retired for a few years now and I still talk about the need to end these dangerous policies—and I will not stop until we succeed.

Last month Cboe Global Markets CEO Ed Tilly warned that if Chicago slaps the financial industry with transaction taxes, amid a crime wave that has employees afraid to come in to work.

“We don’t want to leave… But we cannot be disadvantaged in the world’s most competitive markets,” Tilly said in light of an $800 million tax proposal from Mayor Brandon Johnson aimed at plugging a $538 million budget deficit projected for next year, and increasing costs driven by a cocktail of inflation and rising numbers of destitute asylum seekers.

Now, CME Group, Inc. – which has over a century of history rooted in Chicago, is warning much the same. According to CEO Terry Duffy, they’ll cut bait and drop Chicago like a hot stone – and in fact, have begun the process of uncoupling from the dysfunctional city.

Since at least the publication of Michelle Goldberg’s Kingdom Coming: The Rise of Christian Nationalism in 2006, the ruling class has used the term as a club to bludgeon evangelicals—especially in the wake of their prodigious support for Donald Trump in the 2016 and 2020 elections.

Christian nationalists, the mainstream press tells us, are racist, QAnon-addled election deniers. They want to Make America Puritan Again (in the modern, badly misunderstood meaning of that word). And they believe that the Constitution should be set aside for a Christian divine-right king who will oversee forced religious conversions and impose draconian moral codes upon an unwilling populous.

The Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin has called Christian nationalism “an authoritarian, racist, dogmatic message donning the cloak of Christianity,” asserting that the GOP is “dedicated to imposing White Christian nationalism” on the country. A coterie of chin-stroking panels hosted by D.C. think tanks, “democracy” experts and sociologists, and (former) Republican members of Congress have condemned it in the strongest possible terms.

Teachers’ union leader Randi Weingarten, who presided over a disastrous nationwide shutdown of schools during the coronavirus pandemic, is joining the board of one of the country’s most prominent anti-Israel groups.

J Street, a far-left group that works to undermine the Jewish state, announced on Wednesday that Weingarten will join its board of directors.

It’s a stiff competition. Democratic Party prosecutors who have brought frivolous charges against Donald Trump are certainly in the mix. Nevertheless, I would award that title to Mary Moriarty, the County Attorney for Hennepin County, Minnesota. Hennepin is the state’s most populous county, and it includes Minneapolis along with a number of other high-crime towns. Nevertheless, Moriarty ran for office on a platform of not prosecuting criminals, and she is the rare politician who has kept her campaign promises.

The situation is so bad that it is now drawing national (the New York Post) and even international (the Daily Mail) attention. The Post headlines: “Fury as Minneapolis’ ‘woke’ DA Mary Moriarty allows accused rapists and killers to stay free.” The Daily Mail headlines: “Is this America’s wokest DA? Democrat Minneapolis prosecutor sparks fury by giving probation to murderers, pedophile and killer drug dealer, with even Soros-backed Minnesota AG blasting her.”

Even as President Joe Biden leads in the 2024 primaries, Democrat presidential contender Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has higher favorability and lower unfavorability numbers than either President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, (Trump 43%, Biden 41%, RFK, Jr. 14% unfavorability) according to a new poll by The Economist/YouGov.

Rasmussen reports that a survey also revealed that twenty-five percent (25%) of likely Democrat voters would vote for RFK Jr. in the 2023 primaries for President. Three percent (3%) of Democrats favor author Marianne Williamson in the primaries, while seven percent (7%) would vote for another candidate. The Rasmussen Report is based on a national survey of 998 U.S. likely voters conducted September 14 and 17-18, 2023.

A Virginia Democrat running for a seat in the House of Delegates claims to have been the victim of a “sex crime.” She wants the FBI to investigate “leaks” of her “online activity” that she is calling an “illegal invasion of [her] privacy designed to humiliate” her and her family, according to the New York Times.

Sounds bad, but wait until you read the fine print. The 40-year-old Democrat, Susanna Gibson, along with her husband, moonlighted as pornographers on an X-rated website, including while she was a candidate for office. In exchange for “tips,” the duo offered to perform various sex acts in front of the camera, including but not limited to urination and violent sex.

If Fani Willis were filing her charges against Trump, et al., in Florida, she would likely have been fired by now by Gov DeSantis. She is completely outside her jurisdiction in filing charges against Trump and his associates in Fulton County. No crime was committed under county jurisdiction. (No crime was committed, period–as with all things Trump, comments were purposefully miscontrued in order to charge him, as occured with all of these other charges in all other venues, from the Russia collusion hoax originating from a misconstrued comment by Papadopoulus by an Australian diplomat, to Trump’s comments to Zelensky, to his comments on Jan 6, etc.) Events transpired in the State House and the Governor’s office.

State jurisdiction, at a minimum, and far more appropriately federal jurisdiction (if one can call absolute disregard of the First Amendment appropriate), is the venue for such charges. And when Jim Jordan starts investigating her, and she goes ballistic, claiming interference in a criminal case. Jordan should have replied that she is patently attempting to interfere with a federal election, held her in contempt, and referred her for criminal charges. She is attempting to locally criminalize federal political speech and illegally influence an election.

Earlier today, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. released this indictment of the Democratic National Committee. Why, he asks, is the Democratic Party opposed to democracy? Why is it rigging the primary process? I am not certain whether what he says about the DNC’s machinations is correct, nor am I sure what he considers to be real democracy. (For example, it has never been true that the candidate who gets the most votes across all of the primaries wins the nomination.) But his willingness to take on the DNC, recalling how that body conspired to deny Bernie Sanders the nomination in 2016, will be a real headache for them:

What happened: A bunch of Democratic lawyers are getting rich after settling a class action lawsuit against Google.

• The plaintiffs in the case, Illinois residents who can prove Google violated their privacy rights between 2015 and 2022, will receive about $95 each.

The House of Representatives has passed a Defense authorization bill that, if enacted, would end the Pentagon’s policy of free abortions for service members and their families. In response, a spokesman for the National Security Council has declared that access to abortion is “a foundational sacred obligation”.

Under intense political pressure, California Democrats on Thursday reversed their dismissal two days earlier of a bill that would classify child trafficking as a serious felony.

Assembly Public Safety Committee chair Reggie Jones-Sawyer (D.), who criticized the legislation on Tuesday for its potential impact on racial minorities, this time voted to advance the bill unchanged along with three other Democrats. The two Republicans voted yes both times. None of the lawmakers spoke about why they were holding a redo vote.

The abrupt and unusual about-face came in an emergency hearing after public outcry over the panel’s first vote, which saw all the Democrats abstain and thereby block the bill from moving toward a vote by the full Assembly. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D.) had also applied pressure, saying Wednesday that he was “surprised” by the decision.

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers, a former public school educator, used his broad authority this week to sign into law a new state budget that increases funding for public schools ? for the next four centuries.

Wisconsin governors have expansive partial veto power, and Evers got creative with his use of it in this budget. He crafted the four-century school aid extension by striking a hyphen and a “20” from a reference to the 2024-25 school year. The increase of $325 per student is the highest single-year increase in revenue limits in state history.

The surprise move will ensure districts’ state-imposed limits on how much revenue they are allowed to raise will be increased by $325 per student each year until 2425, creating a permanent annual stream of new revenue for public schools and potentially curbing a key debate between Democrats and Republicans during each state budget-writing cycle.

Evers told reporters at a press conference in the Wisconsin State Capitol on Wednesday his action would “provide school districts with predictable long-term increases for the foreseeable future.”

This is why Democrats can’t be trusted with the reins of government.

A teen mom opened up about her struggle to keep her son, now 1 year old, at the National Life Day Rally commemorating the one-year anniversary of the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

“This culture of death that we’ve created surrounding abortion has not only led people to want to kill their children, to kill their children, but has also pushed parents who want to keep their children, to [kill their children],” Kaylee Stockton, the teen mom, told The Daily Signal(emphasis original). She held her son in one arm and with the other held a sign reading, “This Teen Mom didn’t build her success off of murdering her child.”

Stockton, who gave birth to her son at 18 years old, attended the Life Day Rally, sponsored by Students for Life of America, at the base of the Lincoln Memorial steps this past Saturday. She told the Daily Signal that to continue to build a pro-life America, pro-lifers must continue to hold events like the rally.
