DYSPEPSIA GENERATION

We have seen the future, and it sucks.

‘No to the man with 762 home runs. No to the pitcher who won 354 games. No to the hitter who got 3,060 hits.’

Read it.

I’m glad I don’t give a shit about sports, or this would piss me off big time.

Okay, I’ll bite. What part of it pisses you off big time? Not voting for a cheater? Voting for a cheater? The presumption of cheating? Giving a d@mn about what is, after all, a game? (Did I cover all the options?) I’m truly curious.

For the record, to me this is a real question because my favorite baseball player used steroids and has Hall of Fame statistics. He had HoF statistics before he started using, too.

15-yard penalty for improper use of the term ‘cheater’. Context is important here.

Baseball has rules for how the game is played. I have no problem with that. Major League Baseball also has Bullshit masquerading as rules attempting to govern how the players live their lives. I have a big problem with that. It’s none of their goddamned business.

All of these guys played the game within the rules of the game. Their performance entitles them to respect — and, probably, a place in the Hall of Fame. This crap is like denying a war hero the medals that he’s earned because he was drunk or high when he was a hero. I don’t care how he got there, just that he got there, because the getting there is what we reward … or ought to be.
