Labour Replaces NHS England With New Health Quango

The Health Secretary is creating a new NHS agency after ministers struggled to dismantle “the world’s biggest quango”.
Sir Keir Starmer promised last year to abolish NHS England, bringing its functions and thousands of staff back under direct government control.
But the Government has run into difficulties with transferring employees into the Civil Service, where average pay packages are significantly lower.
Yvette Cooper has now announced that thousands of NHS England staff will remain outside the Civil Service, employed by a new public agency.
