Racism: Now You See It, Now You Don’t

Last Friday a 39-year-old gunman named Kevin T. went on a shooting spree in two suburbs of Paris (Trappes and La Verrière), killing one person and wounding seven others. The murderer reportedly selected persons of color as his targets.
As reported here last night French President Emmanuel Macron said that the attack was the first terrorist act in France committed for reasons of skin color or religion.
The photo at the top of this post shows the aftermath of the massacre that killed 90 people at the Bataclan concert hall in Paris on November 13, 2015. The killers were mujahideen for the Islamic State, and targeted their victims for religious reasons, i.e. because the latter were not Muslims.
However, the incident evidently does not count as an attack “for reasons of skin color or religion”. As we all know, Muslims and/or brown people who kill white non-Muslims can never be said to have racist or religious motives.
Those are just the rules of the game, even though they make no sense.
