Elon Musk Invests in Skydance (CNN): Liberal Media Panic Ensues

25th October 2026

Newsbusters.

There is no confirmation that CNN staffers have put out a request for smelling salts.

Which is another way of saying that the American media is undergoing change. Big time.

For seemingly forever, the American Left has had an iron grip on control of the bulk of the American media. Recall that this control was once so solid that there were gasps of angry disbelief when the conservative Rupert Murdoch arrived on the American media scene. Murdoch, fresh from his native Australia where he had begun building his media empire by turning his father’s ownership of an Australian newspaper into a global empire, slowly expanded into the American media.

…

This time around the Big Change in the American media is coming courtesy of Elon Musk. And Musk’s presence with his investment in Skydance, which just acquired CNN, has liberals freaking out.

It’s worth recalling that CNN was, in its original form, the creation of Atlanta businessman Ted Turner. When he began CNN, by stitching together a couple TV stations, people laughed. But Turner was one smart guy, and built what was in the day the very first 24-hour cable news network Note: CNN took its name from being a Cable News Network.

Eventually it became known as ‘Clinton News Network’ and then ‘Communist News Network’.

Notably, Turner was a young conservative, in his father’s footsteps. But by 1988, his TBS network aired a preposterous seven-hour documentary called Portrait of the Soviet Union, which became the first big crusade for Brent Bozell’s new group called the Media Research Center. It was so bad that even Washington Post television critic Tom Shales characterized the series as “a postcard from Binky and Biff at Camp Whitewash.”
