Obama Center Workers Seek Union Over Pay, Benefits, Turnover

Workers at former President Barack Obama’s presidential center and foundation are seeking to unionize, citing rising healthcare costs, reduced benefits, heavier workloads, and a lack of input in workplace decisions, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
In an open letter signed by 68 employees, Obama Foundation and Obama Presidential Center workers announced plans to form Obama Workers United, affiliated with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Council 31.
The organizing effort could encompass more than 250 employees in Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and remote positions nationwide.
