No More Ululating Muezzins in the Netherlands!
6th October 2026
1985, Anthony Burgess’ novel of a dystopian future (now present-day) Britain, opens with these words:
It was the week before Christmas, Monday midday mild and muggy, and the muezzins of West London were yodeling about there being no God but Allah:
“La ilaha illa’lah. La ilaha illa’lah”
It seems that the UK is not the only country that has to put up with the yodeling. The Netherlands has been experiencing the same high-decibel cultural enrichment, and now some lawmakers in the national parliament say they have had enough (genoeg).
