Austin’s Screwball Light Rail

Texans who feel smug about California’s failing high-speed rail project should recognize that the Lone Star state has similar insane passenger rail programs. One leading one is Austin’s plan to build four three two rail lines totaling 39 31 20 miles in length in Austin. Though passed by voters in November 2020, what Austin is going to get is very different from what voters thought they were approving.
Even in Red states, the metropolitan cities (and the counties that surround them) tend to be pretty Blue. So these tragic stories will continue.
