A young Bangladeshi girl in Italy was threatened with death by her family if she refused to accept an arranged marriage. Fortunately, she was able to alert the police and was rescued before her family could do her any harm.
The article doesn’t give any information about the young lady’s prospective spouse, but one presumes that she was intended to marry a cousin. An arranged marriage to a first cousin is the standard practice for Muslims in that part of the world.
I can’t think of any of my first cousins that I would care to marry. They were all rather unpleasant people.
