St. Paul politicians pushed rent control, saying rent caps would stop “unfair profiteering.”
But what the heck is “profiteering,” and how is it different from “profit”? Who decides what is “unfair”?
Any phrase with ‘control’ in it—rent control, gun control, price control—is the signature tag of people who want to substitute what they want you to do, using the coercive power of government, for what you want to do.
