The Cold War Never Ended. It Just Came Home.

Under President Ronald Reagan, Americans understood communism for what it was. We knew it wasn’t an ambitious social program or a compassionate alternative to capitalism. Everyone knew—without question—that it crushed faith, confiscated property, silenced dissent, and turned citizens into subjects of the state.
Then the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union collapsed. We defeated the communists so completely that following generations of Americans never witnessed their evils. They never saw the breadlines or watched families risk their lives to escape the regimes. They inherited freedom without learning what was required to preserve it.
Communism is not making a comeback because it was ever successful. It’s returning because Americans forgot why it failed. Now its advocates are walking down a red carpet rolled out by the Democratic Party…
It is said that Nikita Khrushchev once claimed that “Your grandchildren will live under communism.” I have been unable to track down the source of that meme, but it matches what I saw of Khrushchev when I was younger. (Yes, I am that old.)

To paraphrase Mark Twain (Samuel L. Clemens), “Reports of my death have been extremely exaggerated!” – communism wasn’t defeated with the collapse of the USSR and the fall of the Berlin Wall. It merely went into hibernation until conditions were more favorable to its existence. And the author is right that communism “came home.” In fact, it never left in the first place – there have always been communist subversives embedded within the West.
Around the time of World War One, Antonio Gramsci in Italy and Georgi Lukacs in Hungary created the ideological basis of what we now know as Cultural Marxism, or in the argot of today, the DEI-Woke movement. During the 1920s, the proponents of this new ideology coalesced around Frankfurt am-Main University in Germany, and when Hitler came to power in 1933, they fanned out across the West to escape. Fatefully, many settled in New York City, N.Y. at Columbia University.
After the Second World War, the “Frankfurt School” theorists as they became known, spread their toxic ideology far-and-wide using the media and education systems as conduits. In time, once the Baby Boomers in the U.S. attained power, Cultural Marxism became the dominant ideology of society not only of the U.S. but of the West.
The one-hundred year journey known as the “Long March” of Cultural Marxism, designed to undermine and destroy the West and Christianity alike, culminated in the rise to power and coronation of Barack Hussein Obama as U.S. president in 2008.
Despite a good deal of push-back from the opposition, today Cultural Marxism retains its control of the commanding heights of western civilization and the United States alike.
