Labour Plots Death Tax on Homes

Grieving families will be forced to pay Labour’s new “mansion tax” under plans to target inheritances.
The Chancellor announced at her Budget last year that homes worth more than £2m would pay an annual “high value council tax surcharge” of up to £7,500.
In consultation documents published on Tuesday, the Treasury said homeowners on incomes of less than £35,000 would be able to defer the levy until they died or sold their home.
