Asylum Seeker Convicted of Hotel Worker’s Murder
24th October 2025
An asylum seeker has been convicted of murdering the hotel worker Rhiannon Skye Whyte in Walsall last year.
Deng Chol Majek, from Sudan, stabbed Whyte 23 times with a screwdriver in a “vicious and frenzied” attack on a deserted railway station platform last October.
Majek was convicted by a unanimous jury after what was described during his trial as a “laughable” defence in the face of overwhelming CCTV evidence.
