Jeremy Corbyn Backs Aide as Spat With Zarah Sultana Worsens
20th September 2025
Jeremy Corbyn has broken his silence on the civil war embroiling his new left-wing party, saying he was “appalled” by the abuse directed by Zarah Sultana and her allies towards one of his advisers.
Corbyn and Sultana, the firebrand Coventry South MP, are locked in an increasingly public spat over the direction and structure of “Your Party” — an attempt to capitalise on socialist dissent towards Sir Keir Starmer’s government and its policy on Gaza.
Sultana ignored Corbyn to prematurely announce the venture in July. Since then, the pair and the factions behind them have competed for control over finances and data.
On Thursday, Corbyn, 76, and four independent pro-Gaza MPs criticised Sultana, 31, for sending an “unauthorised” fundraising email and told supporters to cancel any direct debits.
