Viewing Life Through a Peephole

Many people have made admirable efforts to characterize and understand the irrational, hysterical and bizarre behavior of people on the Left. Still, trying to understand the reasons they perceive life as they do is challenging. The other day, however, I had an insight that might, at least in part, explain how the Left sees the world, and why their view is so limited and selective. First, let’s look at typical descriptions of the Left by the Right. The Left is usually described as an elitist, utopian-thinking, Marxist group. All of those attributes, I believe, are true. Missing from the description are the reasons why these beliefs are so easy to maintain, in view of real-life events:

The Left views life through a peephole.

You know, the tiny hole that is built into hotel room doors. (Let’s ignore for the moment that some of those peepholes have been tampered with.)

What does it mean to see life through a peephole like the view of a visitor to a room?

First, the view is extremely limited and permanent; a person from the outside can’t make adjustments to get a more complete and undistorted view.

Second, the view through the peephole allows the viewer to assume that the story that the view presents is true and legitimate; after all, it’s the only view available in this setting.

Third, the peephole doesn’t allow for any adjustments, such as binoculars or a telescope provide; a person can only see what is right in front of him or her and the view may be distorted.

So, how would the “view through the peephole” create a reality for a person of the Left? We can take three current scenarios and overlay them on the criteria listed above.
