First we cover up your hair. Then we hide your shoulders, your neck, and your cleavage. Then we put the long veil over you. There! Don’t you look beautiful?
Now you’re ready to be presented to your future husband, who is also your first cousin. After that you will bear him eight or ten wee Islamic bairns, as will his three other wives.
And don’t forget: you may no longer venture outside your home unless you are accompanied by a male relative.
