Vinegar works for all the applications mentioned. In fact, this looks so familiar that I’m almost positive that the same article promoted vinegar instead of citric acid not so long ago.
Citric acid is used by reloaders to clean brass cases. Most commercial brass cleaners contain ammonia or amines, both of which eventually ruin the brass.
