How to Survive a Bear Attack
17th August 2018
Tip #1: Stay away from bears.
If you’re camping or hiking in the woodlands of North America – particularly Canada, Alaska, Washington, Idaho, the Dakotas or Montana – or in parts of northern Europe and Asia, it’s perfectly possibly you could encounter a large bear.
So, obviously, don’t do that.

I ran into one last week.
I was out at the 400 yard line, setting up a target, and on the way back the bear comes out of the woods and ambles along in front of me. He sits down in the middle of the range and starts munching on whatever they eat. I looked at him as I walked by. He looks back, then continues to eat. I head back to the firing line and wait for him to finish his meal. A very civil encounter.
