Bill Clinton said there was “credible evidence” that Gerry Adams was involved at “the highest level” in the IRA in the 1990s, the High Court has heard.
As US president, Mr Clinton supported a decision to block Mr Adams from visiting America in 1993, after the FBI and US state department concluded he had “engaged in terrorist activity”.
But the following year, Mr Clinton allowed Mr Adams a 48-hour visa to the US.
Who doesn’t know that Gerry Adams was a terrorist?

Undercover US agents bought a weapon from a Russian criminal gang to carry out tests on the cause of Havana Syndrome, it has been claimed.
Officials from the US department of homeland security spent millions of dollars on the device that produces “pulsed radio waves”.
The US then covered up the findings after successful tests on rats and sheep, an anonymous official has claimed in an interview with 60 Minutes.

The fate of one of Iran’s most powerful military figures remains unknown after he became the focus of rumours that he was an Israeli spy.
Gen Esmail Qaani, a brigadier general in the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), is said to have aroused suspicion after emerging unscathed from the air strike at the start of the war that killed Ali Khamenei, Iran’s former supreme leader, as well as numerous top aides.
Speculation is rife in the Middle East that he is under house arrest or has been executed.

A former Syrian intelligence officer living in the UK has been charged with war crimes in the first prosecution of its kind in the UK.
The 58-year-old man was charged on Monday with a string of offences following an investigation by counter-terror police.
The suspect is said to have led a group tasked with suppressing anti-government demonstrations in eastern Damascus in April 2011, following the start of the Syrian Civil War.
His alleged offences include three counts of murder as a crime against humanity (CAH), three counts of torture, and one offence of conduct ancillary to murder as a CAH.

If you ride the trains or buses in Chicago with any regularity, you don’t worry about microaggressions.
You worry about being maced, mugged, or shoved onto the tracks—or, in one grotesque recent case, set on fire.
That’s the lived experience of Chicagoans navigating the Chicago Transit Authority and Metra. Not academic theory. Not seminar-room sociology. Reality.
So naturally, when a modest pilot program is introduced allowing the transit agencies to suspend individuals who assault conductors, spit on drivers, punch random riders, or otherwise turn public transportation into a Thunderdome audition, what does the Chicago Tribune decide is the story?

The trial in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas follows President Donald Trump’s executive order on Sept. 22, 2025, designating Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization.
The Fort Worth trial completed its second week in what is expected to be a three-week trial.
?Members of Antifa, short for “anti-fascist,” have not faced terrorism-related charges until now, although they have been involved in organized protests across the country that have at times turned violent.
In the landmark case, the government alleges that an Antifa cell launched a coordinated attack against the Prairieland Detention Center housing illegal immigrants outside Dallas on July 4, 2025.
The prosecution claims Benjamin Song ambushed law enforcement at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility outside Dallas, firing 11 shots at police and detention officers, wounding one officer in the neck.

In 1962, researchers hypothesized that diamond’s known form—a mostly cubic crystal—wasn’t the coveted mineral at its greatest hardness. Ever since, researchers have strived to recreate a hexagonal diamond, claimed to be roughly 50% harder than a regular diamond. But a new finding by Chinese researchers may finally bring this race to an end.
A Nature paper published yesterday describes the synthesis of a “millimeter-sized, phase-pure hexagonal diamond,” made with a highly specific method of compressing graphite at elevated temperatures. The resulting diamond, roughly 0.04 inches (1 millimeter) in size, was slightly harder, stiffer, and more resistant to oxidation compared to cubic diamonds.
What’s more, the team scrutinized their product with X-rays and atomic-scale microscopes, confirming that the crystal’s structure was hexagonal with minimum defects. Overall, this result may provide the strongest evidence thus far that hexagonal diamonds can exist, the team says.
Lucky us.

Say hello to ionocaloric cooling. It’s a new way to lower temperatures, with the potential to replace existing chilling methods with a safer, better-for-the-planet process.
Typical refrigeration systems transport heat away from a space via a fluid that absorbs heat as it evaporates into a gas, which is then transported through a closed tube and condensed back into a liquid.
As effective as this process is, some of the choice materials we use as refrigerants are particularly unfriendly to the environment.
There is, however, more than one way a substance can be forced to absorb and shed heat energy.
A method unveiled in 2023, developed by researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and the University of California, Berkeley, takes advantage of how energy is stored or released when a material changes phase, as when solid ice turns to liquid water, for example.

Have you ever wondered if bed bugs are afraid of anything? These tiny blood-sucking insects cause stress in homes around the world. Once bed bugs enter a room, getting rid of them can feel almost impossible.
But new research from the University of California Riverside has revealed something surprising. Bed bugs fear water.
A recent study shows that moisture and wet surfaces make bed bugs quickly turn away. This discovery could help scientists and pest control companies better understand how to deal with infestations.

eaverton is home to a thriving colony of the furry, wood-chewing creatures. The mayor, however, doesn’t give a dam: he decides their forest habitat should be dislodged to make room for a freeway. Mabel, a teenage environmental activist, is outraged by these plans but faces apathy from the locals. This is the zany premise of “Hoppers”, a new film (pictured), which is released on March 6th. It is one of a string of highly anticipated animated movies coming soon to cinemas: indeed, an unlikely coalition of beasts, toys and Italian plumbers may make 2026 the genre’s best-ever year. This summer there will be new instalments in the lucrative “Despicable Me” and “Paw Patrol” franchises, not to mention “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie” and “Toy Story 5” (both of which are expected to exceed $1bn in ticket sales). “goat”, which imagines what would happen if various hoofed animals were allowed to play professional sport, has made $130m since its release in February, making it the second-highest-grossing film of the year so far.
Animated films are typically aimed at small children, but they are mighty popular with audiences of all ages. In 1995 animated films made up just 2.8% of the film market in America and Canada; in 2024 they accounted for 23.9% (see chart). That year “Inside Out 2” became the highest-grossing animated film of all time, taking $1.7bn at the global box office. In early 2025 it was eclipsed by “Ne Zha 2”, a Chinese animated fantasy which has now earned over $2bn. (Only six other films have surpassed the $2bn mark.) “Ne Zha 2” may soon be beaten by “Zootopia 2”, released in November, which has made $1.9bn. How did animation become such a draw?

Thank God the two Muslims arrested were not the sharpest tools in the shed. The devices were filled with home-brew TATP – the explosive of choice of Islamic terrorists worldwide. They didn’t get the formula right and the devices failed to go off. But it wasn’t for lack of trying. They were targeting a protest outside Gracie Mansion whose aim was to raise awareness about the Islamification of NYC. The Muslim call to prayer is now broadcast in the city. The two wanna-be terrorists threw the devices at the anti-Islam protesters while someone shouted “Allah Akbar”. They later told police they targeted the protest because “they insulted our religion.” Thats the religion of peace for you.
Interestingly, Mayor Mamdani’s statement implies that the anti-Islam protesters were the problem and threw the devices …
Yesterday, white supremacist Jake Lang organized a protest outside Gracie Mansion rooted in bigotry and racism. Such hate has no place in New York City. It is an affront to our city’s values and the unity that defines who we are.
What followed was even more disturbing. Violence at a protest is never acceptable. The attempt to use an explosive device and hurt others is not only criminal, it is reprehensible and the antithesis of who we are.
I want to thank the brave men and women of the NYPD who acted quickly to keep New Yorkers safe. Our officers ran toward danger without hesitation, demonstrating once again the courage and dedication it takes to protect this city every single day.
My administration is closely monitoring the situation and I remain in close contact with our Police Commissioner.
Talk about fake news. The local news followed suit, breathlessly reporting that the Mayor and his wife are safe … as if they were in danger.

Mexican cartels are increasingly avoiding direct attacks on Americans in Mexico as President Donald Trump threatens military action against traffickers and pushes a tougher regional crackdown that U.S. officials say is meant to raise the cost of cartel violence.
Cartels have long sought to protect business interests and limit actions that could trigger a major government backlash.
Some analysts believe that calculus includes avoiding the deliberate targeting of American tourists and citizens in Mexico, Fox News reported.
That broader pressure campaign is being articulated openly by the administration and its allies.

A British aircraft carrier may need to be escorted by a French warship if it is deployed to the Middle East.
HMS Prince of Wales has been placed on advanced readiness, with the crew told it must be ready to sail with five days’ notice.
However, with most of the Royal Navy’s major warships unavailable or undergoing maintenance, protection would probably need to be provided by allies such as France, the US and other European countries.
…
The Royal Navy has six destroyers, but only HMS Dragon is known to be ready for action and is due to sail to the eastern Mediterranean very soon to protect the British sovereign base areas of Akrotiri and Dhekelia in Cyprus.
Of the fleet’s seven frigates, only HMS Somerset and HMS St Albans are understood to be available. The rest are undergoing maintenance or struggling with defects.

Sir Keir Starmer has been sent a letter by Labour MPs calling on the UK to pay reparations to Palestine for “war crimes” they allege British forces committed.

It is part of a campaign by Britain Owes Palestine, the organisation that submitted a 400-page legal petition to the government in September, in which it claimed there was “incontrovertible evidence” that the UK breached international law when it controlled Palestine under the British Mandate.

Rupert Lowe is fond of reminding everyone that his favourite historical figure is Oliver Cromwell. One can see the resemblance: a farmer, faithfully married for four decades, who sets down his plough to reluctantly take up an office of state in the years preceding imminent civil unrest. Lowe collects commemorative coins and books about Cromwell. A portrait of the Lord Protector hangs in his office. He named his faithful farm dog after him. While I’m more a Guy Fawkes man myself, it is obvious that Lowe is the Old Noll that Britain needs.
Fortunately, Lowe’s new political party, Restore Britain, isn’t planning on bringing back blasphemy laws or banning music, maypole dancing, and Christmas. (Though Britain’s growing number of Muslim candidates might.) After he announced his plan to stand candidates at the next election on Friday the 13th, Rupert’s former home turned rivals, Reform UK, simultaneously said he would split the vote and that nobody has heard of him. But even John Cleese can see this isn’t a squabble between Judean People’s Fronts. Restore Britain is not a heretical sect, formed from splitting hair-shirts over apostolic succession. As Nigel Farage revealed during his shadow cabinet announcement, Lowe was expelled from Reform because he called for deportations of Pakistani Muslim rape gang collaborators. The “bullying” investigation, police raid of his farmhouse, and confiscation of Lowe’s shotguns were all, in Farage’s eyes, a “brutal” but necessary way of “getting rid of him.”
If such tactics are permissible to prevent people who conspired to cover up the gang rape of children being banished back to Pakistan, then we shouldn’t be shocked that Reform’s surrogates spent the week following Lowe’s announcement comparing Restore supporters to the Nazis. What prompted such insults? Restore’s campaigns director, Charlie Downes’ definition of Britishness, being based on “ancestry” and Christian faith. Downes was guilty of stating what was obvious to everybody until the Cool Britannia messianism of Tony Blair reduced our history and heritage to a liberal pluralist Scout’s pledge of “British Values”.

Emily Goodin at the New York Post reported that Jesse Jackson’s raucous funeral on Friday with three former Democrat presidents included a pile of attacks on President Trump. One would think the networks would love that — but on the Friday night newscasts, the broadcast networks skipped over the anti-Trump zingers, keeping it as positive and nebulous as possible.
For gossips, let’s note that Michelle Obama skipped this event again. Hillary Clinton was there. Jill Biden was there. Kamala Harris was there. Michelle skipped a black funeral in her own home town. None of these networks mentioned her, either.
ABC’s World News Tonight spent two minutes on the funeral with lots of upbeat music, and small upbeat quotes from Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Joe Biden, and Kamala Harris. Pierre Thomas gushed: “They came today 10,000 strong to help keep hope alive — not for a funeral, but a black church-style homegoing service. To celebrate the life and legacy of Jesse Jackson, civil rights legend and major American political figure….Jackson, that clarion voice for justice, will never be silenced.”
Jesse Jackson was the second-worst race-hustler and grifter to come out of the civil-rights disturbances of the 1960s (Al Sharpton takes the prize there). It came as no surprise to those who were paying attention that his son, Jesse Jackson Jr., was elected to Congress as a Democrat and eventually wound up in prison. He was a master of the race-shakedown, threatening big business with racial disturbances and racial lawfare unless he and his henchmen were paid off.
He will not be missed, except possibly with a sigh of relief.

Sigh. It’s all so exhausting. Not all of New York’s wealthiest residents are sounding alarms over Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s plan to raise taxes on high earners. In fact, a small group of millionaires says the backlash is a bit over the top, according to Bloomberg.
Members of the Patriotic Millionaires — including filmmaker Abigail Disney, granddaughter of Roy O. Disney of The Walt Disney Company — argue the rich can easily afford to contribute more if it helps fund things like schools, transit and child care.
“I’ve gotten tax cut after tax cut after tax cut. And I never needed any of them,” Disney said, backing Mamdani’s proposed 2-percentage-point income-tax surcharge on millionaires. “All these things have fallen out from under the middle class — an education system that works, public transportation, infrastructure, health care.”
First of all, being a millionaire doesn’t mean that you know your ass from a hole in the ground—especially when, like Abigail Disney, you inherited your money and decided to dabble in artsy-fartsy occupations like ‘film-maker’. The number of billionaire Democrats demonstrates rather conclusively that Intelligence and Wisdom are ‘two different rolls’, as my brother the Dungeon Master used to say. (Bill Gates is the poster child for the notion that being clever and a fool is not impossible.)
Secondly, these people, when they argue that they’re happy to pay taxes, are doing a statist shuck-and-jive: After all, if they wanted to ‘pay more taxes’, all they have to do is write a check; I don’t know of a single layer of government that would turn it down. No—they want other people to pay more taxes, taxes that millionaires can usually afford and others maybe not so much. They just want to do the Socialist Two-Step of Spending Other People’s Money.
Thirdly, they are dyed-in-the-wool Democrats: The things that they say have ‘fallen out from under the middle class’ are all government services: ‘an education system that works’ (public, that is)’, ‘public transportation (which goes from where you aren’t to where you don’t want to be), ‘infrastructure’ (public roads, sewers, water, and electricity), ‘health care’ (paid for by the government, for preference). All of these are things that people within my lifetime used to pay for themselves, and could again if taxes weren’t so high. What these Bernies want, is for all of your money to be taxed away, and then returned to you via government subsidies—under their control, and the control of political hacks like themselves. This is the Democrat program, and has been since Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty (which, despite trillions of dollars spent, doesn’t seem to have reduced poverty by a bit).
The next time you hear a ‘millionaire’ bloviate about how they would be glad to pay more taxes, just mosey on up and ask, ‘Well, why don’t you write a check, rather than trying to increase MY taxes along with yours?’ Watch them scuttle like roaches for the cracks and crevices, leaving a spoor of word-salad behind them.

It is frequently said that President Trump is a transactional politician. Yet Sir Keir Starmer is the prime minister who has readily set aside his own politics to pursue what he deems the long-term reward in having close, if improbable, ties with his American counterpart.
He illustrated the prize in the most performative terms available to him last May, when, shortly after brokering a deal to cut tariffs with the United States, he headed to Jaguar Land Rover’s factory in Solihull to meet workers. Standing before a gleaming red vehicle on the factory floor, Starmer proudly declared: “We are the first country to secure such a deal with the United States. In an era of global insecurity and instability, that is so important.”
To those on the left and right who had doubted his courtship with Trump, culminating in a hand-delivered invitation from the King for a second state visit, there came the rejoinder. Cars. Jobs. Exports.
The question after Trump’s latest intervention — in which he condemned Starmer for initially failing to support his intervention in Iran, saying: “We don’t need people that join Wars after we’ve already won!” — is whether the old calculations any longer apply.
To quote a wise old Gunnery Sergeant: “If your friend pulls a gun on you, he is no longer your friend—he’s a threat, and must be dealt with accordingly.”

An architect of Iran’s assassination plots in Britain and elsewhere in the West has been killed in the bombardment of Tehran.
Yahya Hosseini Panjaki, an intelligence chief involved in co-ordinating overseas attacks, died in the first wave of Israeli airstrikes that also killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
MI5 has tracked nearly 50 Tehran-backed plots in the UK. On Friday armed counterterrorism officers arrested four men on suspicion of helping Iran’s intelligence services to spy on the Jewish community in London. Their arrests may have been expedited amid concerns that the US and Israeli military action against Iran could prompt supporters of the regime overseas to launch retaliatory attacks.

As expected, Iran has repeatedly targeted prized missile defense radars across the Middle East in retaliation for the joint U.S.-Israeli air campaign that is ongoing. Iran’s attacks on high-value radars that enable the region’s missile defense capabilities appear to have succeeded on multiple occasions. The irony that lower-end long-range kamikaze drones are perhaps the biggest threat to extremely advanced radars capable of providing telemetry for intercepting targets traveling at hypersonic speeds, sometimes in space, is glaring. The losses of the radars and/or damage to their facilities should finally serve as a stark wake-up call regarding the vulnerability of these critical but largely static assets.
Based on the information at hand, it appears that Iran has been able to destroy one U.S. AN/TPY-2 radar in Jordan and damage the massive American-made AN/FPS-132 phased array radar in Qatar, prompting immediate concerns about available radar coverage to help respond to further barrages. There are strong indications that a number of other similar systems have been destroyed or damaged, as well.
The advent of phased-array radars has been a gane-changer in naval and coastal defense combat information networks.

The effort is being led by the Aleph Institute, a Chabad-affiliated organization that endorses Jewish chaplains for the U.S. military.
Aleph asked the military to investigate the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, which endorses Messianic chaplains, and to revoke its endorsement authority if it continues allowing clergy to wear Jewish insignia traditionally reserved for Jewish chaplains.
“It is clear that [the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregation] is acting in a manner incompatible with the interfaith cooperation and respect that has defined 150 years of U.S. military chaplaincy,” Aleph wrote in a letter to the Armed Forces Chaplains Board.
In a view shared by many Jews, Aleph suspects that the Messianic movement is a facade — a deceitful tactic aimed at proselytization.

America doesn’t have a crime problem; it has a repeat offender problem. High crime in this country has mostly been a matter of choice by reckless politicians beholden to prison “reform” ideologues.
A recent story highlights that reality.
On Tuesday, NYPD arrested 47-year-old Damon Johnson, a resident of Brooklyn, and charged him with murder, assault, and reckless endangerment. Johnson was charged in connection to the lighting of a homeless man on fire in Penn Station, one of the busiest train and subway stations in the country.
This wasn’t the defendant’s first rodeo with violence.

“All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players.” So wrote William Shakespeare in As You Like It. Yet certain modern-day theatregoers apparently do not understand the difference between the space upon the boards and off them; hence, they have taken Shakespeare’s words literally and decided to reshape the world around them into one gigantic interactive left-wing morality play, with themselves as the central heroes and heroines.
Working-class ‘groundlings’ crowding into the pit of the theatre during Shakespeare’s own day were notoriously unruly, but such misbehaviour was largely limited to hurling abuse and rotten fruit at thespians they took a dislike to. Middle-class theatregoers in our own day are far worse, actively attacking and trying to kill any actors they don’t like—on the grounds they are supposedly ‘Nazis’.

A Minnesota state employee who vandalized six Tesla vehicles last year, causing up to $21,000 in damage, received no jailtime and just a single-day suspension from his job, state records show.
…
He also admitted that he vandalized the Teslas “in hopes the owners would disassociate themselves from Elon Musk and Tesla.”
Adams told investigators he was “on a break” or “out sick” during the times he was out keying Tesla vehicles, however Adams’ state time card, obtained by Alpha News, shows he logged a full eight-hour workday during the time period he was committing some of the crimes.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor warned that the U.S. Supreme Court had asserted a “newfound authority” after it halted a New York state court order that would have required the state to redraw New York City’s only Republican-held congressional district before the 2026 midterm elections.
The ruling left the current lines in place for now in a closely watched fight over House control.
The emergency action stopped a January ruling that had found the district unfair to Black and Hispanic voters. The district is represented by Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., and covers Staten Island and part of Brooklyn. The move preserves the current map as New York’s election calendar advances.
Sotomayor, joined by Justices Elena Kagan and Ketanji Brown Jackson, said the court had inserted itself into a state election dispute before New York’s highest court had ruled.
She argued that the justices had acted without explanation and warned that the move could pull the court into election-law disputes nationwide as states continue to fight over congressional boundaries.
Malliotakis praised the decision, saying it kept New York’s 11th Congressional District intact and protected Staten Island and southern Brooklyn voters from losing the ability to elect a representative who reflects their views.
And so the battle lines are drawn.
