OMISSION ROUNDUP: 3 Stories the Legacy Media Really Didn’t Want You to See

8th October 2025

Newsbusters.

We at the Media Research Center have long argued that one of the most insidious forms of media bias is bias by omission: the exclusion of stories, or of key items within stories, that run counter to the ongoing media narrative. We cover those omissions as they happen, but they are usually limited to one high-profile story. But last night’s legacy evening news omitted THREE major items.

We begin with Virginia Democrat Attorney General candidate Jay Jones, and the media’s ongoing omission of his murderous text messages that have rocked that state’s gubernatorial election, which the national media usually look to and cover as a midterm bellwether. Our own Geoff Dickens has tabulated the scant coverage these texts have received and has rightly noted that “If Jay Jones were a Republican, he’d probably be a household name by now.” To date, no major Democrat has broken from Jones over these violent texts, most notably among these Senator Tim Kaine. Neither the texts, nor revelations that Jones was busted for driving 116 miles per hour, nor reports that he reported time spent at his PAC as court-ordered community service, nor his just-revealed alleged pining for police deaths, disqualifying for a Republican, drew any significant media scrutiny.

In other news, CIA Director John Ratcliffe declassified and published an explosive report that further clarifies the extent to which then-Vice President Joe Biden engaged in corrupt practices related to his oversight of matters pertaining to Ukraine.

Daily Show Mourns Lefty Environmental Groups Have Lost Federal Funding

8th October 2025

Read it.

Comedy Central’s Tuesday version of The Daily Show ended on a somber note as host-of-the-week Josh Johnson welcomed the founder and executive director of Black Girl Environmentalist, Wawa Gatheru, to the program to lament that under the Trump Administration, left-wing environmental groups are no longer being bankrolled by the federal government.

A solemn Johnson wondered, “There is all of this climate work that needs to be done and you would think that your greatest ally would be the government and the country. But unfortunately, we, you know, are here. And so, what do you do when you not only don’t have support, but there is active hostility towards climate science or climate activists?”

The Left’s Political Playbook: Redefining Words and Standards

8th October 2025

Read it.

Last week, I wrote about the left’s playbook of projection and deflection, wherein they ascribe their own sins unto their victims. This week, let us examine how the left tries to advance its radical agenda by redefining words and standards.

Today’s case study: free speech.

While the First Amendment of the United States Constitution recognizes and protects the God-given right to free speech, there has always been a reasonable, popular consensus that there exists material not suitable for young, impressionable children and that, alternatively, for adult consumption, cannot be banned. The left is endeavoring to rend this consensus.

Presently, the left equates the removal of age-inappropriate materials that sexualize children from public schools as “censorship.” As readers of last week’s article will recognize, such is a deflection and a projection from the fact the left has for years been banning, eliminating, and re-editing all manner of media, usually by “dead white European males” (though certainly not exclusively), from curricula for being contrary to the dictates of their “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI) secular religion.

While one might expect leftists to recognize their own mendacity and hypocrisy, one would be sorely mistaken.

Chinese-Mexican Syndicate’s Supply Chain Exposed, Vancouver Emerges as Global Meth Hub

8th October 2025

Read it.

The case of Fatima Qurban-Ali, a 30-year-old Canadian sentenced recently in New Zealand for attempting to import nearly 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine on a flight from Vancouver — coerced at gunpoint by a transnational drug syndicate, the court heard — has illuminated a troubling global pattern.

Across a series of recent prosecutions, New Zealand Customs records and sentencing reports show that Canada — particularly Vancouver’s port and airport — has become a major node in the production and shipment of synthetic narcotics by networks supplied through China-based syndicates and Mexican cartels.

Qurban-Ali, an immigrant from Afghanistan whose brother worked as a translator for U.S. and New Zealand forces, arrived in Auckland from Vancouver on December 8, 2024, carrying a red duffel bag filled with packages wrapped in festive paper. Inside, Customs officers found 9.9 kilograms of methamphetamine with an 80 percent purity — a haul valued at roughly NZ$2.9 million.

The Muggle Party

8th October 2025

Read it.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, yet whispered only in enlightened places, that the first-past-the-post British political system is a machine designed with one grim weakness: to periodically vomit into power a last-man-standing government of Muggles. Not the whimsical, wand-waving kind, but a far more desolate breed: the Labour Muggle. This unsightly creature is not born, but unexpectedly elected. Its natural habitat is the seat left festering after a Conservative collapse, its sustenance the diktats of trade union focus groups fed fat on biscuits, and its highest ambition the serene, managed administration of national decline.

Nigel Farage “Death Threat” by Afghan National Shown in Court

8th October 2025

Times News (UK).

Nigel Farage has described in court his fear after an Afghan migrant threatened to shoot him while preparing to cross the Channel in a small boat. The Reform Party leader said it was clear that Fayaz Khan, who has a distinct Kalashnikov gun tattoo on his cheek, planned to kill him in the threats made in a TikTok video.

Khan had lived in Stockholm, Sweden, since at least 2019 and built up “a very large presence online” with hundreds of thousands of views on his TikTok videos, Southwark crown court was told.

In October last year Khan announced that he was preparing to cross to England in a small boat, the court was told.

Farage highlighted the plans in a YouTube video titled “The journey of an illegal migrant”, where he described “young males of fighting age coming into our country about whom we know very little”.

The following day Khan, who used the social media name Madapasa, allegedly posted a TikTok video addressed to “English man Nigel” telling him to “delete the video”, it is alleged.

Khan allegedly said: “I come to England because I want to be married with your sister.” He also twice threatened “pop, pop pop” while making trigger gestures with his hand, the court was told. Some of his other videos allegedly featured men with guns.

German Mayor Stabbed by ‘Gang of Men’ in Broad Daylight, Manhunt Underway

7th October 2025

Read it.

Iris Stalzer, who a mere weeks ago became the mayor of Herdecke in North Rhine-Westphalia and is a center-left Social Democrat, sustained multiple stab wounds and is reported to be fighting for her life after being airlifted to the hospital.

Emergency responders discovered her alive but in a life-threatening condition, after one or more attackers tried to kill her, after which she was still conscious enough to crawl inside of her home. German sources report she was “attacked in front of her residence around midday and managed to drag herself inside before collapsing.”

Within hours after the attack, there is still no suspect or known motive for the attack, which could be deemed an assassination attempt of an elected official. It’s also unclear if there was a political motive.

Sanctuary Jurisdictions Continue to Fight ICE, National Guard Deployment

Latin Kings Gangbanger Allegedly Put Bounty on Border Patrol Chief in Snapchat Message: ‘10K If U Take Him Down’

7th October 2025

New York Post.

A Latin Kings gangbanger allegedly put a bounty hit out on Border Patrol chief Gregory Bovino – firing off a Snapchat message that read, “10k if u take him down.”

Juan Espinoza Martinez, a 37-year-old Mexican living in the US illegally, was nabbed Monday in Burr Ridge, a Chicago suburb, after the feds were tipped off to the alleged murder-for-hire plot, authorities said.

In the Snapchat conversation, the ranking street gang member included a photo of Bovino and placed a $2,000 bounty for his capture, according to a criminal complaint.

America Has Too Many Laws

7th October 2025

Niel Gorsuch and Janie Nitze.

Our country has always been a nation of laws, but something has changed dramatically in recent decades. Contrary to the narrative that Congress is racked by an inability to pass bills, the number of laws in our country has simply exploded. Less than 100 years ago, all of the federal government’s statutes fit into a single volume. By 2018, the U.S. Code encompassed 54 volumes and approximately 60,000 pages. Over the past decade, Congress has adopted an average of 344 new pieces of legislation each session. That amounts to 2 million to 3 million words of new federal law each year. Even the length of bills has grown—from an average of about two pages in the 1950s to 18 today.

Geothermal power is a very underutilized source of power in the United States, but it offers incredible potential. Texas-based Fervo Energy is an expert in the field building the largest geothermal power development in the United States in southwest Utah. The project calls for 125 wells to tap into the Earth’s underground heat reserves.

In a victory for the development, one of the nation’s largest utility companies, Southern California Edison, has agreed to purchase electricity from the development. The 15-year agreement will power the equivalent of 350,000 and begin when the development’s first part is operational in 2026.

Dispatches From the Farm Upstate

7th October 2025

Read it.

It’s easy to tell urban and suburban settings apart: suburbs are just a part of the city that’s dominated by single-family homes and manicured lawns. Rural living, in contrast, isn’t about construction style; it’s about access to services. In a rural place, you’re not getting municipal water or sewer, you have no local police department, and fire or EMT services might be a long way away.

Rural jurisdiction is funny too: you no longer have to deal with city planning departments or HOAs, but it’s not the bargain you might be hoping for. You probably need a permission straight from the state capital to build a septic system or dig a well — and if you’re unlucky, you might get a visit from the feds, too. The much-politicized Sackett v. EPA decision involved a family who bought an unassuming rural plot to build a single-family home, and ended up getting pulled into a decade-long fight with the federal government. The fight was about regulatory power, not the (near-zero) impact of what the Sacketts wanted to do. When the family finally prevailed, half the country gave them cross looks.

The need to interact with such distant and incomprehensible bureaucracies is probably to blame for the siege mentality among some rural populations. When a regulator in Sacramento decides it’s time to ban gas-powered chainsaws or leaf blowers, it’s good for the suburbs, where such equipment is a nuisance, and where batteries are usually enough. At the same time, it’s preposterous to those who own a forest and need to keep tree diseases and fire risks in check. We bought a top-of-the-line battery-powered Husqvarna saw; it’s great for small projects, but woefully inadequate for more serious forestry work.

Government employees have long noses and just love to stick them into YOUR business.

Millions of Anglicans Consider Exodus After Appointment of Woman Archbishop

7th October 2025

Read it.

While progressives might hail the arrival of the first woman Archbishop of Canterbury in the form of Sarah Mullally, a more orthodox part of the church, primarily in Africa and Asia, is raising alarm over the appointment, saying she “cannot provide leadership to the Anglican Communion.”

The Anglican church risks losing tens of millions of members after the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (Gafcon), an organization that represents a majority of the 85 million Anglicans worldwide, stated in a letter on their website that the appointment of Mullally “abandons Anglicans, as the Church of England has chosen a leader who will further divide an already split Communion.”

The Gafcon letter says the failure of successive Archbishops of Canterbury to “guard the faith” means the office can no longer be seen as a credible leader of Anglicans.

Not only is Mullally a woman—something that to a majority of Anglicans is as unthinkable as it would be for Catholics to choose a woman pope—she is also a self-described feminist who has made her way to the top of the church hierarchy while campaigning for the ordination of women. She is also an outspoken supporter of abortion and voted in favor of introducing blessings of homosexual relationships in the Church of England.

Gafcon points out that Mullalley has failed to uphold her consecration vows, which included a commitment to “banish and drive away all strange and erroneous doctrine contrary to God’s Word.”

Spanish Cops Uncover Fraud Network ff Fake Residencies & Sham Marriages Used by Illegals

7th October 2025

Read it.

The Spanish National Police has announced the arrest of 12 people in Vic for orchestrating fraudulent partnerships between Spaniards and illegal immigrants, part of a growing Europe-wide problem involving forged documents, sham marriages, and black markets for residency permits.

According to police, the network operating from the Catalonian town specialized in manufacturing fake family links to secure residence permits reserved for relatives of EU citizens.

As reported by 20 Minutos, the investigation began in November 2024, when authorities noticed a cluster of suspicious applications. In each case, the foreign applicant was living illegally in Spain and claimed to be in a stable partnership with a Spanish citizen. All applicants listed the same address on Rambla del Passeig, which investigators discovered was in fact a café.

The fraud unraveled when police found that the couples had not registered with the official Registry of Stable Partnerships and instead submitted forged documents to immigration officials. Among the arrested is the alleged mastermind who arranged the sham marriages, provided the fake paperwork, and advised clients on how to present their applications.

Sen. Kennedy Just Exposed More Absurd Things Democrats Shut Down the Government For

7th October 2025

Read it.

The Schumer Shutdown dragged through the weekend, with neither side budging. Republicans pushed for a straightforward continuing resolution to keep the government funded through November, but Democrats chose to hold the line for their wish list of radical spending priorities—billions and billions of dollars’ worth—and in doing so, shut the government down. The media has focused on their demand for free health care for illegal immigrants, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot more buried in this standoff that isn’t getting the attention it deserves.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) took to the Senate floor this week and laid out, in his trademark blunt and hilarious fashion, exactly what Democrats are trying to shut the government down over—and it’s every bit as ridiculous as you’d expect.

“Basically, President Trump just said, ‘We want you to take some stuff out of the budget that we think is wasteful,’” Kennedy began. “And we did — and that upset the congresswoman.”

That “congresswoman,” of course, is Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who, according to Kennedy, went ballistic when Trump and congressional Republicans started cutting some of the more absurd Biden-era spending priorities.

Kennedy didn’t hold back as he read aloud what Democrats are fighting to restore.

The Progressive Flight From Reality

7th October 2025

Read it.

Take Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s recent denunciation of “White House senior aides” for “sowing fear, intimidation and division” by, among other things, calling Democrats “fascists.” Given not just his party’s but his own frequent use of such rhetoric – comparing ICE agents to Nazis who disappear immigrants and vowing that Republicans “cannot know a moment of peace” – the jaw-dropping irony of his complaint was lost on no one, except, apparently, Pritzker and his allies. It raises the question: How did he think he could get away with this?

He is not alone. In recent weeks, progressives have been assailing President Trump’s very real attacks on free speech, without wrestling with the fact that they have long been the driving force behind cancel culture, hate speech codes, and broad-based censorship efforts.

They have been attacking Trump for weaponizing the justice system against his political enemies without coming to grips with the fact that they did exactly that during the Biden administration.

Unaccountable: The FBI’s Strange Refusal to Fix Key Crime Stat

7th October 2025

Read it.

Three years ago, RealClearInvestigations reported that the FBI was undercounting the number of armed civilians who had thwarted active shooters by a factor of three.

Even though the FBI acknowledged the issue at the time, it never corrected the error involving the politically fraught issue. In the years since, the problem has only gotten worse. Since RCI’s 2022 article, the FBI has acknowledged just three additional incidents of armed good Samaritans stopping active shooters from 2022 to 2024, and none in the last two years. In contrast, the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), which I head, has documented 78 such cases over that same period – a 26-fold difference.

The discrepancy highlights systemic problems in the nation’s record-keeping regarding the politically potent issue of crime and safety. The refusal of many local jurisdictions, including Chicago, Maricopa County, Arizona, and New Orleans, to provide accurate crime data to the FBI has long made comparisons with many cities unreliable. The ongoing Justice Department investigation into whether Washington D.C. police falsified crime rates to create a “false illusion of safety” may provide more evidence to distrust the numbers that local authorities submit.

Portland DA Drops Charges Against Conservative Journalist Who Was Attacked by Antifa

7th October 2025

Disorderly conduct charges have been dropped against a conservative journalist who was arrested for defending himself from an attack by members of an Antifa mob in Portland, Oregon Thursday.

“VICTORY: Following our demand for discovery related to the @PortlandPolice ’s coordination with Antifa, the Multnomah County DA has announced they will DECLINE to prosecute me,” Journalist Nick Sortor declared on social media Monday.

“After a careful review of the investigation, including reports and video, we do not believe the crime of Disorderly Conduct can be proven against Mr. Sortor beyond a reasonable doubt,” Sortor quoted from a statement by the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office he embedded in his post.

Trump Threatens to Bomb Iran Again, Says He’s ‘Not Going to Wait So Long’

7th October 2025

Read it.

President Trump on Sunday said that he would bomb Iran again if the country restarts its nuclear program, warning the US was “not going to wait so long this time,” a threat that comes amid growing signs that another US-Israeli war against Iran may be coming.

“The B2s, what they did. Those beautiful flying wings, what they did, they hit every single target. And just in case, we shot 30 Tomahawks out of a submarine,” Trump said in a speech at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia, during a celebration of the US Navy’s 250th birthday, referring to the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities on June 22.

‘David vs Goliath’: CBS Blames ICE for the Attempts to Kill Agents

7th October 2025

Read it.

Amid several attempts across the nation by left-wing extremists to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, CBS News Sunday Morning appeared to blame the actions of ICE for the attacks. CBS alluded to ICE being the source of the violence, twisted the story of a young illegal immigrant, and talked for a former ICE attorney all to allude to a false fact that ICE deserved the attempts to kill their agents. The reporter behind the segment even suggested it was a “David versus Goliath” fight.

“U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, is now effectively the highest-funded federal law enforcement agency in the nation. Some have cheered its growth. Others are wondering, when does more become too much?” chided host Jane Pauley as she introduced the segment which was delivered by correspondent Lee Cowan.

Though not explicitly calling it such, Cowan’s report essentially consisted of listing out the purported transgressions that caused ICE agents to deserve the attempts on their lives, even blaming them for the violence brought against them, and accusing them of racism.

Another Financial Industry Climate Collusion Cohort Collapses

7th October 2025

Newsbusters.

Another domino fell Friday in the collapse of collusion by financial institutions seeking to impose net-zero ideology on the American marketplace, as the Net-Zero Banking Alliance (NZBA) closed its doors.

“Net-zero,” which envisions achieving zero-sum emissions of so-called “greenhouse” gases, particularly carbon dioxide, is one element of the radical-left’s ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) ideology. Financial institutions belonging to groups such as NZBA agree to discriminate against, or in favor of, companies based on whether or not they adhere to net-zero mandates.

“On paper, the NZBA, which was convened by the UN Environment Programme finance initiative but led by banks, encouraged members to slash the carbon footprint of their investments and help drive the transition to net zero emissions by 2050,” The Guardian noted Friday.

Over the past two years, such collusive efforts have come under scrutiny for being potential anti-trust violations.

Israel Accuses Gaza Flotilla Prisoner of Biting Medical Staff

7th October 2025

The Telegraph (UK).

Israel has accused a Gaza flotilla activist of biting a member of prison staff in response to allegations of mistreatment during their detention.

Israel’s foreign ministry said on Monday: “The only violent incident came from a Hamas-Sumud provocateur who bit a female medical staff member of Ketziot prison.”

The Global Sumud Flotilla has not responded to the allegation, but its activists had claimed Israeli soldiers mistreated, beat and set dogs upon them in detention after their flotilla was intercepted last week.

Fellow detainees said Greta Thunberg was shoved and forced to wear an Israeli flag before the Swedish activist was deported on Monday.

Hamas Demands Release of Oct 7 Attackers in Exchange for Hostages

7th October 2025

The Telegraph (UK).

Hamas has demanded the release of captured terrorists who took part in the October 7 massacre, sources have said.

The terror group has reportedly requested that “Nukhba fighters”, the elite special forces unit who led the massacre, be added to the list of currently imprisoned Palestinians slated for release in exchange for the Israeli hostages.

The demand risks scuppering any chance of a deal.

No shit.

London Risks Becoming ‘Childless City’ as Families Pushed Out

7th October 2025

The Times (UK).

London risks becoming a “childless city”, school leaders warn, as pupil numbers plunge and families leave the capital amid soaring costs, Brexit and falling birth rates.

Family homes are being replaced by new-build apartments while parents determined to stay in London and other cities say they are “clinging on” because of careers, convenience and culture.

Dave Woods, head of a primary school in west London, said the issue dominates conversations among head teachers in the capital, adding: “It’s a phrase that is talked about in meetings … about London becoming a childless city.”

Disgraced Illinois Ex-Congressman Eyes Comeback Bid

6th October 2025

Read it.

Jesse Jackson Jr. will reportedly announce a run to reclaim his old congressional seat in Illinois after vacating it more than a decade ago following his conviction on fraud charges.

“We must fight them at every level to restore decency, fairness, and equity back into the federal government,” reads a line from the Jesse Jackson Jr. for Congress webpage.

Jackson, 60, the son of prominent political activist and minister Jesse Jackson, was sentenced to 30 months in prison “for conspiring to defraud his reelection campaigns of about $750,000 in funds that were used to pay for personal items and expenses, including high-end appliances and electronics, and then filing misleading reports to conceal seven years of the illegal activities,” according to the Justice Department in August 2013.

As a crooked black Democrat from a family of race-hustlers, he will no doubt be embraced warmly.

Lawsuit Aims to Force Veterans Affairs to Disclose Information Related to Diverting Resources to Illegal Aliens Under Biden

6th October 2025

Read it.

The Veterans Affairs Department is facing a lawsuit after failing to disclose information related to the department’s alleged improper use of medical resources during the Biden administration to benefit illegal immigrants.

Following a Daily Signal report in August 2024, a policy organization in Washington asked the VA for more information related to its reputed use of employees to process cases of illegal aliens at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Health Service Corps.

The Center to Advance Security in America, or CASA, received none of the information it requested from the VA.

My, what a surprise.

Syria’s First Post-Assad Election Draws Criticism Over Inclusivity

6th October 2025

Read it.

Syria has announced results from its first parliamentary election since the fall of Bashar al-Assad, with most new People’s Assembly members being Sunni men. Only 4% of the 119 elected seats went to women, and just two Christians were elected, raising concerns about representation and fairness.

Representation and fairness? From Muslim jihadists? What has this author been smoking?

Syrian-American Henry Hamra, the first Jewish candidate since the 1940s, was not selected.

Nor will he ever be. Even I can see that.

Critics say the indirect voting system—used under the excuse of unreliable post-war population data—favors elite, preapproved candidates and limits real democratic progress.

Kind of like a Blue state.

Al-Jazeera’s Osama Bin Javaid said, “If you ask the Druze in the south or the Kurds in the north, they say [the elections] were not representative.

But of course they would say that. And we have every reason to believe that they were right. I doubt that any Alawites were considered.

Roughly 6,000 regional delegates selected two-thirds of the 210-seat assembly on Sunday; interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa—formerly an Al-Qaeda operative, then under the name Abu Mohammed al-Jolani—will appoint the remaining third.

Putin looks on with envy.

Under a temporary constitution announced in March, the incoming parliament will exercise legislative functions until a permanent constitution is adopted and new elections are held.

Hopefully those elections won’t take as long as the Fatah regime in “Palestine”.

15 YEARS LATER? WashPost Editorial Board Says Obamacare ‘Was Never Actually Affordable’

6th October 2025

Newsbusters.

Hold on to your britches because you’re not going to believe this one. The Washington Post Editorial Board just admitted that the so-called “Affordable Care Act,” one the most notorious pieces of Obama-era legislation foisted upon consumers by legislators and the liberal media as the saving grace of American health care, turned out to be an expensive mess.

The Post tried to play both sides of the fence in the ongoing government shutdown stand off with Republicans and Democrats, the latter of which demanded “Republicans agree to extend the Covid-era insurance subsidies without proposing any way to pay for it.” Then The Post ran one of the biggest plot twists ever to hit American politics in the last 15 years.

“The real problem is that the Affordable Care Act [Obamacare] was never actually affordable.” Nope, your eyes didn’t deceive you. The architects of former President Barack Obama’s 2010 “signature achievement,” wrote The Post, “assumed that risk pools would be bigger than they turned out to be. As a result, policies cost more than expected.”

How ABC News Manufactures a Medicaid Cut Crisis

6th October 2025

Read it.

The federal government is shut down, at least in part, because Democrats are attempting to reverse Medicaid spending cuts that were enacted earlier this year as part of the “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” Democrats are refusing to support a continuing resolution that would keep funding the government unless it restores those cuts.

ABC News is determined to help the Democrats make their case for reversing Medicaid cuts, even at the expense of whatever journalistic credibility it has remaining. To wit, “Good Morning America” aired a story by senior White House correspondent Selina Wang about “looming Medicaid cuts threatening the already dire maternal health system.”

The story claims that more than 5.5 million women already live in “maternity care deserts,” referencing a 2024 report by the March of Dimes, and argues that Medicaid cuts “could force more maternity wards to shut down.”

Almost everything about this story is factually incorrect or severely misleading. First, the factual errors. The March of Dimes report claims that 2.3 million women live in maternity deserts, less than half the 5.5 million asserted by ABC News. ABC may have calculated 5.5 million by adding the 3 million women identified by the March of Dimes who “live in counties with limited maternity care access” to the 2.3 million women who they say live in counties classified as maternity care deserts. Even then, ABC appears not to know its 123s because the sum of 3 and 2.3 is not more than 5.5.

Terror Trial Begins for Moroccan Machete Attacks in Spain

6th October 2025

Read it.

A Spanish court has begun the terrorism trial of Yassine Kanjaa, a Moroccan man accused of killing a church sacristan and injuring a priest in machete attacks in Algeciras in 2023. Prosecutors seek 50 years in prison, alleging Kanjaa was radicalized and targeted religious figures.

On January 25, 2023, Yassine Kanjaa attacked two churches in Algeciras with a machete, killing a sacristan and wounding a priest, before being arrested trying to enter a third church.

Despite a diagnosis of psychotic disorders, authorities say his mental impairment was not complete. Kanjaa, who had no prior criminal record and entered Spain illegally, will face questioning after eyewitnesses and experts testify.
