The Great Sort is under way, as normal people move to red states and liberals move to blue states. (That last is hypothetical and hasn’t actually been observed.) When massive numbers began leaving blue states like California and New York for red states like Texas and Florida, many conservatives worried that those blue staters might bring their bad voting habits with them. Happily, that doesn’t seem to have happened.

John Hinderaker at Power Line.
Fani Willis’s prosecution of Donald Trump has descended into comedy, currently of the bedroom farce variety. As all the world now knows, Willis carried on a torrid affair with Nathan Wade, whom she hired to lead the Trump prosecution and to whom she paid an extraordinary amount of taxpayer money, and then helped him spend it. That is corruption of the most old-fashioned sort. Willis and Wade have claimed that their affair did not begin until 2022, some time after she hired him to prosecute Trump.

The Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice (CRD) was established through the 1957 Civil Rights Act. In the ensuing years, its attorneys prosecuted important civil rights cases at the end of the Jim Crow era. Today, though, that respectable past is ancient history. By the early years of this century, CRD had become a dumping ground for aging attorneys desperately seeking and crushing the dying embers of actual civil rights infractions, even as the supply dwindled past the point of irrelevance for the department. As we demonstrate below, by the time Obama was elected, there simply were not enough civil rights offenses—even in a nation of more than 300,000,000—to justify CRD’s continued existence, at least not on the same grounds that justified its creation.
Given the dearth of real civil rights offenses, CRD had no choice but to transition from prosecuting real hate crimes to serving as the enforcers of the regime’s divisive racialist agenda. To do this, it had to manufacture a supply of fake hate crimes and so-called civil rights offenses because, as Glenn Reynolds observed, “the demand for hate crimes far exceeds the supply.” It also had to staff up with regime apparatchiks. By Obama’s second term, CRD had filled its ranks with radical partisan ideologues to pursue the regime’s identity politics goals without recourse to any coherent definition of “civil rights” or “hate crime.”

Kentucky’s attorney general is investigating a health care company that wired $200,000 to James Biden the same day he wrote a check for that amount to his brother and future president Joe Biden.
James Biden worked as a consultant for Americore Holdings LLC, a Florida-based hospital chain that later collapsed. Americore declared bankruptcy in Kentucky in 2022 under federal law amid reports of massive staff departures, poor patient care, and poor equipment at one of the hospitals in the state.
It’s not clear whether the probe by the office of Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman, a Republican, extends to members of the Biden family.

Washington is once again facing a potential shutdown. Funding for the federal government will run out in early March unless the House and Senate can bridge their differences and pass spending legislation.
At the same time, the city of San Francisco seems to have few problems doling out huge amounts to well-connected activist groups and hard-left ideologues.
While those two realities might seem disconnected, there are important links between them.

A San Francisco store is making customers shop with escorts for part of the day to curb “rampant shoplifting,” representing the latest business to find difficulty operating in the city.
Fredericksen Hardware and Paint is asking customers to wait at a table in the front of the building until an employee can serve them, the local KRON4 reported Thursday. This system is in place for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening.
“Due to the rampant shoplifting, Fredericksen has introduced a one-on-one shopping experience,” reads a sign on a table blocking access to the store. “Wait here, and a clerk will be right with you to help you with your shopping needs. We’re sorry for the inconvenience!”

Hollywood director Rob Reiner’s new documentary “God & Country,” released in theaters last weekend, warns Americans of an impending “Christian nationalist” takeover of the country.
The Associated Press declared Saturday, “Many believe the Founders wanted a Christian America. Some want the government to declare one now.” On Tuesday, Alexander Ward and Heidi Przybyla warned in Politico, “Trump allies prepare to infuse ‘Christian nationalism’ in second administration.”
Such manufactures represent “a coordinated effort” to stoke fear before the 2024 elections, declared Family Research Council Action President Jody Hice, guest host of “Washington Watch” on Wednesday. Their purpose is not just “to rally the Left but, probably even more so … to intimidate and silence Christians who embrace a biblical worldview,” he said.
Do Christians have their own nation? Well, I suppose that in a world where “Muslim” is a race….

Politico is a member in good standing of the “establishment media.” Its journalists rotate in and out, to and from other pro-Biden outlets. But when Politico has a reporter who delves into the Biden family influence-peddling business, you can expect that work to be ignored routinely.
Ben Schreckinger authored a book in the fall of 2021 titled “The Bidens: Inside the First Family’s Fifty-Year Rise to Power.” The publisher promised it would reveal “the secrets lurking in the deep recesses of Joe’s family tree to his son Hunter’s foreign deal-making spree—and the Trump gang’s ham-handed efforts to exploit it.”
Nobody in the pro-Biden media wanted a Biden tell-all, even from within its ranks. Schreckinger wasn’t all over TV selling his book the way every salacious anti-Trump author was rewarded. There are eerie commonalities in all these five court cases involving plaintiff E. Jean Carroll, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, federal special counsel Jack Smith, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
One, the prosecutors are either unapologetically left wing or associated with liberal causes. They filed their legal writs in big-city, left-wing America—Atlanta, New York, Washington—where liberal judges and jury pools predominate in a manner not characteristic of the country at large.
Two, the cases are overtly political. Bragg, James, and Willis have either campaigned for office or raised campaign funds by promising to get or even destroy Trump.
Carroll’s suit was funded by left-wing billionaire Reid Hoffman.
Smith sued to rush his court schedule in hopes of putting Trump on trial before the November election.
Three, there would not be any of these cases had Trump not run for the presidency or not been a conservative.

The mother of the suspect who started the deadly shootout at the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl parade last week, reportedly set up a (now deleted) GoFundMe to help him get through the “tragic time.”
Two adult black males were charged with murder Tuesday over the mass shooting that left one dead and 22 others injured, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said. Eleven of the victims were children and were sent to nearby Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Lyndell Mays, 23, of Raytown, and Dominic M. Miller, 18, of Kansas City, both face charges of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Although both face murder charges, Baker said Miller’s firearm was the one that fatally wounded Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old mother of two.
Mays allegedly first drew his handgun after getting into a verbal altercation with another person. Miller and others immediately pulled their firearms, leading to the shootout, Baker said.
A stolen Glock 9mm handgun was found on the ground near Mays, according to the charging documents.

f Donald Trump is the threat to democracy that the late night comedy shows claim he is, you would think that The Daily Show’s Desi Lydic would put policy differences aside and support Nikki Haley, but you would be wrong. On the Thursday edition of the Comedy Central program, Lydic argued that, on some issues, Haley is worse than Trump and has some rather “unmoderate” positions on women’s issues, such as protecting the integrity of women’s sports.
Lydic was condemning what she claims is a media tendency to portray any Republican who didn’t storm the Capitol or claim the election was stolen as a moderate, “Is Nikki Haley the moderate in the race? Because when you actually take a look at her policies, they aren’t that different from Trump. She also wants to build the wall. She also wants mass deportations. She’s also opposed to Obamacare and the Paris Climate Accords and, in fact, on abortion she’s even more extreme than Trump.”

For decades now, an axiom of middle-class feminism has decreed that there are no important inbuilt differences between male and female brains. In fact, so the favoured story goes, there are no male and female brains at all, except in the trivial sense that there are a variety of human brains, each lodged within male and female bodies and shaped by external “gendered” circumstances that vary from culture to culture. A second axiom tends to follow swiftly: anyone who says otherwise is probably a sexist pig. This week, however, both of these foundational assumptions were dealt a blow by new research emerging from Stanford University.
Neurobiologists there have discovered that a specially designed “deep neural network”— that is, an AI presumably devoid of the misogynist prejudices of ordinary mortals — can reliably sort brains into male and female categories based on the detection of “hotspot” activity patterns. Worse, it seems that the AI can also use these differences to reliably predict different cognitive performances in men and women on certain tasks, suggesting that functional brain variations have behavioural implications. Though it’s a bit early to say, perhaps we can now look forward to a more harmonious future, where a woman can be proudly unapologetic for her inability to reverse park, and a man gets to blame his brain for repeated failures to notice that his wife is crying. Meanwhile, for the many thinkers who have staked their professional identities to the non-existence of two kinds of brain, now might seem like a good time to move some eggs into a different career basket.

After nearly a decade of effort the U.S. Air Force has finally developed a MagNav (Magnetic Navigation) system that works reliably enough to supplement or replace GPS for navigation. MagNav takes advantage of the universal presence of magnetic activity worldwide. MagNav uses an AI (Artificial Intelligence) neural network running on a laptop, or any other small computer, to compare the known location of the aircraft and magnetic activity generated by the aircraft to a worldwide map of background magnetic activity. Once this calibration is done the aircraft can takeoff and fly as far as it has to using MagNav as well as GPS to keep track of where it is. MagNav will supplement GPS and also act as a backup if GPS is being jammed or encountering some other form of interference. MagNav also does not rely on a network of space satellites to make it work.

It only seems fair that if someone is injured by getting a vaccine that was mandated by the government, the government ought to pay appropriate compensation. Let us give Conor Friedersdorf credit for the most creative, as well as bizarre, reason for keeping Donald Trump from winning the presidency again this year. Friedersdorf says it is not about his past record or policies. No, according to him, the reason that Trump must be defeated in 2024 is because he drives people crazy with Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Friedersdorf makes this assertion in Thursday’s Atlantic magazine that Trump must be kept from returning to the White because he makes some people very, very uncomfortable in “The Strongest Case Against Donald Trump.”

Leftists love to make up categories of people to hate, whether those categories have any basis in reality or not. Lately, “Christian nationalism” has become an obsession of the left. But who are these people? I am a Christian and a nationalist, so am I a “Christian nationalist?” If not me, then who? I am personally acquainted with a great many conservatives, and a great many Christians, and I have never heard a single person identify himself or herself as a “Christian nationalist.”
John Nolte’s post on Rob Reiner’s new documentary, titled “God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism,” triggered this train of thought. Happily, Reiner’s documentary has been an appalling flop, with virtually no one going to see it. It is not hard to understand why. A normal person would rather slit his wrists.
But Reiner isn’t alone in deploring “Christian nationalism.” I became aware of the phrase mostly because the Evangelical Lutheran Church In America, to which I belonged for many years, was obsessed with it. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the ELCA to come out against sin–how old-fashioned!–or mass murder, or Hamas’s October 7 massacre. (The ELCA is firmly on Hamas’s side on that one.) On February 21, 2020, in Amador County, California, police found the dead body of Philip Haney, 66, hardly the typical Sierra foothills resident. A UC Riverside alum, Haney worked as an agricultural entomologist in the Middle East, where he studied Arabic and the Quran. With that background, Haney seemed a good fit for the Department of Homeland Security, but DHS bosses had a problem.
As Haney told The Hill in 2016, “DHS ordered me to scrub records of Muslims with terror ties,” that is, “to delete or modify several hundred records of individuals tied to designated Islamist terror groups like Hamas from the important federal database, the Treasury Enforcement Communications System (TECS).” That year Haney authored See Something Say Nothing: A Homeland Security Officer Exposes the Government’s Submission to Jihad.
In November of 2019, Haney told the Washington Examiner he had “a severely hyper-organized archive of everything that’s happened” since See Something, Say Nothing. As the whistleblower explained, “my intention is to have it ready by early to mid-Spring of 2020 (just before the political sound wave hits), then ride that wave all the way to the Nov. elections.” On February 21, 2020, Haney turned up dead by gunshot.

Politicians in both parties pay lip service to working- and middle-class interests, but generally ignore their major concerns. In poll after poll most voters identify their main concerns as inflation, lack of economic opportunity, health care, and issues such as crime and immigration that directly affect their jobs, their earnings, and their families. Relatively few, well under 5 percent, mention such things as the environment, racism, abortion, or even foreign policy, notes Gallup, a finding confirmed in recent Pew surveys.
This process is best seen by comparing education levels. Once a minor factor, educated voters since 2017, particularly with graduate degrees, have tilted toward the Democrats, beating Republicans by almost 30 percentage points. In contrast, those without a college education have gone from 14 percent more Democratic to 14 percent more GOP leaning.
The predominance of class is a key determinant amidst what are perceived as bleak times for working people. Many are simply dropping out; labor participation of men is now lower than in 1940, notes demographer Nicholas Eberstadt, when unemployment was three times higher. One recent poll found that only 34 percent of Americans approve of Bidenomics. By last summer a Reuters/Ipsos poll found that nearly 70 percent of Americans think the economy is worse now than in 2020, when the pandemic started in the U.S.

Administration critics say these moves reflect the resurgence of a practice embraced by the Obama administration and rejected during Donald Trump’s presidency: “sue and settle.” The tactic is simple: An advocacy group sues a federal agency for failing to enforce laws or regulations. Agency officials and the plaintiffs then come to a private agreement and that deal is ratified by the courts via a binding consent decree.
The practice is common at every level of government. New York City, for example, is obligated to house and feed tens of thousands of migrants because of a consent decree it entered into to settle a 1979 lawsuit brought by advocates for the homeless. But it is most prevalent in the environmental field, where well-funded groups commonly sue the Environmental Protection Agency or the Bureau of Land Management within the Department of the Interior alleging failure to enforce provisions of the Clean Air Act or regulations regarding federal leases for energy production.
Although such consent decrees do not have the force of laws passed by Congress or regulations issued by the government that have gone through formal review and allow for public comment, they set the rules of the road. Critics say it has allowed government to advance policy goals that cannot be achieved through normal democratic channels.
The distinguishing characteristic of Democrats is that they avoid anything that smacks of actual democracy.

California’s Legislative Black Caucus on Wednesday detailed a package of 14 reparation bills they introduced to right historic wrongs carried out against the Black community.
Legislators said the bills are meant to be the first step in a multi-year effort. Caucus chair, Assembly member Lori Wilson, said during the press conference that the package of bills aims to address “how we as Californians are still affected by slavery and it’s successors in our own state, including redlining, theft of labor, wealth and capital, over-incarceration, over-policing and systemic discrimination.”

Worse still, 1 in 10 jobs added in January came from “employment in social assistance”. What was driving this sudden boom in welfare jobs? The real boom was happening on the border. Cities are being flooded with masses of migrants who need social workers to care for them.
New York City is cutting school lunches for kids while Denver is slashing funding for parks to be able to care for migrants. Some of the job growth in Bidenomics consists of the country, and states and cities going deeper into debt to provide more benefits for the illegal alien invaders.

The test firing of a Trident missile from a Royal Navy submarine has failed, for the second time in a row.
The latest test of the UK’s nuclear deterrent was from HMS Vanguard and was witnessed by the defence secretary.
The missile’s booster rockets failed and it landed in the sea close to the launch site, according to the Sun, which first reported the malfunction.
When on patrol missiles would usually carry nuclear warheads but they are not fitted for test fires.
The Ministry of Defence said the “nuclear deterrent remains safe, secure and effective”.
You can tell when government employees are lying because their lips are moving.

Last week’s Super Bowl parade shooting in Kansas City in which one was killed and 22 wounded was another validation of both Coulter’s and Sailer’s Laws of Mass Shootings.
Ann devised her insight back in 2015 after two Muslim terrorists of Pakistani origin murdered fourteen at a government office in San Bernardino:
The longer we go without being told the race of the shooters, the less likely it is to be white men.
…
Of course, the arrestees are black, according to a photo in the Daily Mail. The Super Bowl parade mass shooting was the usual knuckleheaded dispute that could, at worst, be resolved with fists if African Americans didn’t feel the cultural imperative to start banging away with pistols. But the ruling caste and media work hard to cover up the size of America’s black gun violence problem.
