President Joe Biden might have intended to draw red lines on enemies attacking the 16 infrastructure targets in America, but he left space and undersea targets off the list to be attacked and gave enemies our dearest targets, according to former White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow.

The EU is an American creation, as much as a European one. In the middle of the 20th century, there were more European federalists in Washington than in Brussels. Senators bashed out resolutions declaring: “Congress favours the creation of a United States of Europe.” The Marshall Plan, a torrent of post-war funding for the crippled continent, came on the condition that European countries meld themselves together. George Kennan, an American diplomat, summed up American policy: “We hoped to force the Europeans to think like Europeans, and not like nationalists.” Forget Jean Monnet. When it comes to naming founding fathers for the EU, the list should start with President Harry Truman.
One could as accurately say that it is the creation of the old Soviet Union, which isn’t round to blame any more.

The Rapid Response Team of the Portland Police Bureau has endured over 150 nights of rioting. Not protests, riots. Riots that have not only destroyed the city’s reputation but have physically destroyed different neighborhoods in the city. Almost every member of the team has sustained injuries. Channel 2 News released a 14-point memo sent to the PPB Chief:
At the top of the list, Clark said nearly every team member had been injured during the protests last year.
“The injuries received ranged from multiple members with broken bones, torn ligaments and cartilage, traumatic brain injuries, hearing damage, damaged eye sight, lacerations, and burns,” he wrote.
He said members felt that bureau directives were being interpreted retroactively, leading to members being disciplined for policy changes that had not been in place when the officer acted during a protest.
Who has the George Soros prosecutor in Multnomah County started to prosecute? He’s searching for police officers to prosecute. He’s contacting attorneys whose rioting clients are suing the city. Some PPB officers allege he’s investigating police officers in hidden backdoor investigations. He does appear to be involving outside attorneys in the investigation of PPB officers.

Middle income families are lashing out against Joe Biden’s punitive new tax plan that would claim a large chunk of the amount someone leaves to their kids when they die just because it has gone up in value over the course of their lifetime.
The harsh new tax – dubbed Biden’s ‘death tax’ – is hidden in his American Families Plan and it’s receiving ferocious backlash. It proposes that when someone dies, any asset they leave behind that has appreciated in value by more than $1million since the time they bought it should be taxed.
The tax rate would go as high as 40% – double what it is now – and it applies to how much the asset has appreciate. So someone who inherited a house their mother and father paid $250,000 for but that’s now worth $2.5million would have to pay tax on the difference.

The wealthy have been fleeing the city all pandemic long, to lower-tax, lower-cost-of-living and lower-crime alternatives. That means big trouble ahead for those left behind, as the top 2 percent of earners supply 51 percent of New York’s income tax take.
Add in middle-class flight, and all the young upstaters leaving for lack of job opportunities, and you see why New York is one of just seven states to lose a House seat after the 2020 Census.

The Other McCain does the reporting that American media won’t do.
In case you didn’t see this story already, the fake “whistleblower” Rebekah Jones attempted to destroy the career of a Ph.D. student at Florida State University who only wanted to help get Florida’s COVID-19 death totals accurately counted. The word “psychopath” is now being widely used to describe the woman who was the subject of “Everybody Blog About Rebekah Jones Day” a couple months ago. Because I am a professional journalist, however, I would hesitate to use the clinical term “psychopath” because I have no credentials to make such a diagnosis and it might be construed as defamatory. Nevertheless, I have previously stated my opinion that Jones is “deranged, demented, daft, wacky, bonkers, non compos mentis, off her rocker, nuttier than a Snickers bar, a few fries short of a Happy Meal, and cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.”

Two arrests have been made. Oddly enough, the 17-year-old arrested appears to exactly match the “vague” description provided by the police that the UT Football News refused to publish “as it is too vague at this time to be useful in identifying the shooter and such publication could be harmful in perpetuating stereotypes.”
…
News stories indicate that the event was the result of a dispute between two individuals who had engaged in previous violent confrontations. The identity and demographics of the second suspect have not been released as “they” is a juvenile.* And I have a hunch that we all can make a pretty accurate guess as to “their” demographics.

In late May and early June 2020, looters smashed storefronts in the Bronx and Manhattan boroughs of New York City.
Many were caught on tape, some with their faces visible. Others even posted their own videos of their actions those nights on social media. Hundreds were arrested.
But a review of NYPD data by the investigative team at WNBC, the NBC owned station in New York, shows that a large percentage of the cases — particularly in the Bronx — were dismissed, and that many convictions were for counts like trespassing that carry no jail time.
That’s what happens when Democrats run your state.

When Deer Park resident Brandon English got home from work on Wednesday, his house was hot.
“(My wife) had it cranked it down at 2:30,” English said. “It takes a long time for this house to get cool when it gets that hot.”
English’s wife and their daughters decided to take their afternoon nap earlier in the day.
“They’d been asleep long enough that the house had already gotten to 78 degrees,” English said. “So they woke up sweating.”
Without anyone touching it, they said their thermostat was changed while they were sleeping, making their home unbearably hot.
“Was my daughter at the point of overheating?” English said. “She’s 3 months old. They dehydrate very quickly.”
His wife received an alert on her phone soon after that. The family said their thermostat had been changed remotely, raising the temperature of their home during a three-hour “energy saving event.”

Ebrahim Raisi, a cleric who serves as chief justice of Iran, is reported to be Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s favored candidate to win Friday’s presidential election, which most international observers see as a sham given the regime’s decision to disqualify any candidate viewed as a moderate. Raisi, who served as deputy prosecutor of Tehran in 1988, sat on a four-man panel that oversaw the killings of nearly 1,000 political prisoners. In an August 1988 audio recording, members of the commission can be heard defending the executions, arguing in support of killing 200 additional prisoners, and even laughing about their efforts to expedite the murders.

My critique boiled down to four main points: First, I doubted we would improve our overly complex, balkanized health-care system with yet another major program that would make it even more complicated. Second, I feared committing more than $100 billion to new spending every year, at a time when we hadn’t even figured out how to pay for existing entitlement programs. Third, I worried that having the government subsidize even more of our medical bills would lead to price pressure, particularly on pharmaceuticals and medical devices, which in turn would reduce incentives for innovation. And fourth, I simply didn’t believe many of the claims supporters were making — explicitly or implicitly — about Obamacare dramatically reducing health-care costs or bankruptcies or infant mortality, or improving life spans.
Eleven years on, that first worry seems overblown. Our system is still a Rube Goldberg-esque kludge, but not noticeably more so than in 2010. As for the effect on innovation, well, Pfizer and Moderna just brought two new cutting-edge vaccines to market in less than a year. And while I’m certainly worried about a fiscal crisis, Obamacare is the least of our worries, since no politician in either party appears to believe that government spending and government revenue have any relation to each other, or ought to.
On the fourth point, however, I think that my predictions have largely been vindicated. And that this is one major reason the others haven’t been.

ZMan’s weekly podcast. Highly recommended.
Happy Juneteenth everyone! Officially, this long tradition dating back to Monday is celebrated on Saturday, but the ruling regime has declared the preceding Friday as a day off for our hardworking civil servants. The rest of us, of course, will have to continue slaving away at the salt mines, but the people who really make this country work will get the day off to celebrate the people who built the country. Even as we toil, we should take a moment to think about both groups.
In a way, the ridiculousness of this new holiday fits perfectly with the absurdity of modern liberal democracy. The show this week is mostly about how the system is nothing like it is claimed. Instead of bringing the citizens into the decision making process, it systematically excludes the majority. This new holiday is a great example of how it works. Exactly no one wanted it. Few even heard of it. The people have many higher concerns, but they are ignored in favor of this novelty.
