News outlets tell us that President Trump underperformed in key midwestern states, compared with 2016. But that isn’t exactly true. Take Wisconsin: four years ago, Trump carried the state with 1,405,284 votes. This year, with 99% of the vote tabulated, Trump had 1,610,007 votes, more than 200,000 more votes than he received four years ago. Yet, we are told, he lost the state to the inept Joe Biden.

That seems unlikely. There were 3,684,726 registered voters in Wisconsin going into Election day. The total votes recorded in Wisconsin were 3,240,549. That would give Wisconsin a turnout of 88%. According to Ballotpedia, no American state in the period 2002-2018 has ever achieved a turnout rate of 80% or higher. For purposes of comparison, in 2016 Wisconsin had a 67 percent turnout rate. If you are credulous, you can believe that 21% more Wisconsinites voted this year, compared with the red-hot election of four years ago, and 248,000 more Wisconsinites turned out to vote for the charismatic Joe Biden this year than voted for Hillary Clinton four years ago. I think those numbers are almost certainly false, the result of ballot manipulation.

An urban exodus could persist for a couple of years as the virus pandemic and resulting socio-economic implosion has exacerbated quality of life problems – violent crime, homelessness, rising taxes, and high cost of living – those were some of the reasons, even before the pandemic, forcing city dwellers to rural communities.

San Francisco voters approved a new tax that will target businesses with the most disproportionately paid CEOs.

Measure L required a simple majority to pass and was approved by 65.18% of voters Tuesday night, making San Francisco the first U.S. city to move to tax both private and public businesses based on how “overpaid” their top executives are.

A protester accused of punching a police officer was arrested after he was identified by facial-recognition software that has not been publicly disclosed before: the National Capital Region Facial Recognition Investigative Leads System (NCRFRILS).

The software is currently employed by 14 local and federal agencies in the US and was revealed in court documents reviewed by The Washington Post. Reports said that the NCRFRILS – apparently a pilot program of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments – has run 12,000 searches as of last year, and attempts to match faces against a database of 1.4 million people.

Since the last few posts and their comments have been discussing the heretofore all-but-unthinkable, let’s move all of that up here. I’ll put my cards on the table. Trying to predict the exact course of events is a mug’s game, ditto the likely outcome of general trends… but the general trends are clear enough: Last night was America’s last even kinda sorta arguably “open” election (n.b. not “free,” let alone “fair”), and might be our last election, period.

No matter what happens, nobody, anywhere, will consider this election legitimate. Even if Trump wins — which is possible, perhaps even likely — all that will mean is that his lawyers were smart enough to catch the Democrats in obvious voter fraud, and the Democrats were dumb enough to get caught, this time.

These people are criminal sociopaths. I mean that quite literally. As any cop will tell you, some criminals are born, others are made, but there’s really no such thing as an ex-criminal. “Crime” is a way of life. Whether you’re a bank robber or a drug dealer or a tax cheat is epiphenomenal — that’s the type of law that it was most convenient for you to break, given your situation. But once you start bending the rules, it’s inevitable that you’ll break them… and once broken, keep on breaking them. There’s no way the people who tried to steal the election for Biden are going to straighten up and fly right, because they can’t. And again as any cop will tell you, crimes aren’t stopped by the vigilance of the security forces and the brilliance of detectives. It’s an equal combination of criminal stupidity and luck — sheer, dumb, stupid fucking luck. Maybe they won’t succeed in stealing this election, but they’ll steal one sooner than later.

The team studied dog DNA dating as far back as 11,000 years ago, immediately following the last Ice Age. By sequencing the DNA of 27 dogs found in Europe, the Near East and Siberia, team members discovered five different types of dogs with distinct genetic ancestries dating from before any other animal had been domesticated.
