If, of course, that’s what you want to do.
I always use those little plastic packets (available for free from any fast-food restaurant), laying them carefully on the table and using a Xacto knife to put a small nick in one end. Then you hold it over the food with the nick toward the food, put two fingers on either side of the packet, and slowly run your fingers from the top to the bottom, neatly extracting the sauce.
Or you can just put them on the table and slam them with your fist. If you hold your hand correctly all of the sauce will go on your companions instead of yourself. This is especially handy when faced with armed assailants.

An insane man who is known for stumbling through the streets of Troutdale shouting at people that he’ll buy back things from them that he never owned after he takes money from them that he does not possess has become one of the leading candidates in the 2020 presidential election.
I’m sure this is a satire on one of the current Democrat candidates but I can’t for the life of me figure out which one.

The Other McCain does the reporting that American ‘journalists’ just won’t do.
Let’s start with the Klan kook: Thom Robb calls himself the “national director of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.” Robb lives about 10 miles from Harrison and his “Knights” receive mail at a post office box in Harrison, which gives the town a dot on the SPLC “hate map.”
This reflects a problem I’ve addressed at The American Spectator (“Another Dot on the ‘Hate Map’,” Feb. 22), where the SPLC targets entire communities as “hate” locations based on dubious claims, in order to create an exaggerated sense of menace for fund-raising purposes. By the standards of the SPLC, just about every Baptist church in America could be designated an “anti-LGBT hate group,” and if hate groups are everywhere, what’s the point of all those dots on the map?

Business executives are as prone to fashion trends as teenage girls. Unfortunately, their mistakes cost their shareholders quite a bit (not themselves, though).
Procter & Gamble’s latest revenue report shows the multinational corporation is doing just fine. One of its blue chip brands, however, is not. The consumer goods company took a serious financial shave on Gillette, announcing an $8 billion non-cash write-down on the world’s leading shaving brand, which P&G purchased for $57 billion in 2005.
In a rightly-ordered society, whoever came up with this lame-ass ad campaign would be thrown out in the street. But that society is not this society.

Iran is concentrating all its resources today trying to save the formidable benefits it gained in the Iran nuclear deal (the JCPOA). In the eyes of the Islamic regime in Tehran, the deal is worth keeping even after the United States’ withdrawal, because it allows Iran to move safely towards attaining a large arsenal of nuclear weapons in 11 years. It could not make it to the first bomb before the deal, because Iran could not safely cross the threshold between accumulating enough enriched uranium to produce a bomb and actually making one.

The semicolon was born in Venice in 1494. It was meant to signify a pause of a length somewhere between that of the comma and that of the colon, and this heritage was reflected in its form, which combines half of each of those marks. It was born into a time period of writerly experimentation and invention, a time when there were no punctuation rules, and readers created and discarded novel punctuation marks regularly. Texts (both handwritten and printed) record the testing-out and tinkering-with of punctuation by the fifteenth-century literati known as the Italian humanists. The humanists put a premium on eloquence and excellence in writing, and they called for the study and retranscription of Greek and Roman classical texts as a way to effect a “cultural rebirth” after the gloomy Middle Ages. In the service of these two goals, humanists published new writing and revised, repunctuated, and reprinted classical texts.

NAACP President Jeffrey Dye had a record of threatening his brother with a knife, getting caught with six bags of crack cocaine, assaulting police officers on two separate occasions, so of course he was appointed to work for the New Jersey Department of Labor & Workforce Development.
Governor Phil Murphy’s Dem administration had previously appointed Al Alvarez, his guy in charge of Latino and Muslim outreach, accused of trying to rape one of his staffers during the campaign, as chief of staff the New Jersey Schools Development Authority. The last time Dye had gotten in trouble was when he had been charged with aggravated assault after a confrontation with 3 police officers in 2007.
That’s not counting the time he failed to file campaign finance reports while running for public office.

The available evidence suggests that it is.
In her confrontation with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz over guns used in Chicago crimes, which, as Cruz pointed out in response to the Dayton and El Paso shootings, occur in a city which has its own mass murder equivalent virtually every weekend, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot blamed guns brought in from Republican-controlled states.
…
Hypocrisy has a new poster child for what Lightfoot fails to note is that what is important is not where the weapons came from, but what happened to the gun criminals and gangbangers afterword, if apprehended at all, which in Lightfoot’s Chicago has been virtually nothing.
‘These guns come from YOUR states!’ ‘Yeah, but the criminals are from YOUR city.’
Funny how Texas cities (even the ones run by Democrats) don’t have this much of a problem with gun crime.
Must be something about proximity to the Canadian border.

Labor unions are working with allies in state legislatures to counteract a Supreme Court ruling that invalidated mandatory union dues and fees for government employees, according to a new report from a free-market think tank.
My, what a surprise.
Labor unions depend for their effectiveness upon force — force exercised against employees to join and stay in and obey the union, and force against employers to squeeze out the money on which they feed. This is, I suspect, why labor unions have such an affinity for the Democrat party; both are essentially a small clique of bureaucrats leading around a herd of sheep for whom they pretend to be working.

This ought to be tattooed on each politician’s forehead so it will stare back at him (or her) every morning from the mirror.
It illustrates the Fundamental Law of Markets, but that’s not even it’s core benefit.
It’s more useful lesson is that When Circumstances Change People Change Their Behavior In Response.
Over 90% of the laws passed in the modern world are based on the assumption that people will not change their behavior as a result of the law. But they invariably do, and that change means that the predicted effect of the law WILL NOT TAKE PLACE. What actually takes place is something different, often something wildly different, which wise people refer to as the Law of Unintended Consequences.
If you meet a politician on the road, make him explain to you how markets work. If he (or she) can’t, kill him (or her) as a threat to your species, and look for another. You’ll be doing God’s work.
A gig economy is based around flexibility and convenience. That’s a problem for municipalities which make money by taxing established industries. New York City is destroying ridesharing because it makes a fortune from auctioning off taxi medallions. Ridesharing ruined that business, so it’s ruining ridesharing.
That’s what politicians do. If something benefits you and not them, they will do their best to ruin it.

Yang is absolutely correct that automation is going to be replacing the jobs of many people in the very near future, and he is absolutely correct that new solutions unlike anything ever tried before are going to be necessary to help address this problem. In 1958, a Czech-born sociology professor named Nat Mendelsohn purchased 82,000 acres of land in the Mojave Desert, about 100 miles north of Los Angeles, and founded the optimistically named California City. Intended to eventually rival LA in importance, California City was just one of the countless master-planned communities that sprouted up across the state in the post-World War II boom years. But unlike Irvine or Mission Viejo, California City never took off.

The Department of Energy is putting down its guns and withdrawing troops in the war on the incandescent bulb that began in 2007. It’s pretty late in the day; the last factory to make them in the U.S. shut down in 2010. It’s hard to find them in a store, in which case: thank goodness for Amazon!
Still, the damage can be reversed. Our houses can again be warm and beautiful, and legally. You can turn on the lights in the morning and not have your eyes lacerated by blindingly fake electric “light.” As the Wall Street Journal summed up the current moment: “If you like old-fashioned incandescent light bulbs, you can keep buying them.”

N THE 1950s, the small town of Ivrea, which is about an hour’s train ride north of Turin, became the site of an unheralded experiment in living and working. Olivetti, a renowned designer and manufacturer of typewriters and accounting machines, decided to provide for its employees through retirement. They were given the opportunity to take classes at an on-site sale and trade school; their lunchtime hours would be filled with speeches or performances from visiting dignitaries (actors, musicians, poets); and they would receive a substantial pension upon retirement. They would be housed, if they liked, in Olivetti-constructed modern homes and apartments. Their children would receive free day care, and expecting mothers would be granted 10 months maternity leave. July would be a time of holiday, so that workers with homes in the surrounding countryside could tend to small farms — it was important to the company that workers not feel a division between city and country. Italy’s best Modernist architects would be hired to design in the Modernist style: Factories, canteens, offices and study areas would be airy palaces of glass curtain walls, flat concrete roofs and glazed brick tile. It would be a model for the nation, and for the world.
