In our continuing series intended to remind you that life is better than before, despite the calamitous storm of news that clatters down 24/7 like buckshot on a tin roof, we present installment No. 9,275: why it is harder to drive into the ditch than it used to be.

Ace of Spades points out some inconvenient truth.
There is a lazy assumption among the media (wow…that never happens!) that the Republican Party is in its essence for the wealthy, and the Democrat Party is for the little man…the real people of America.
But anyone who has been paying attention has realized by now that the concentration of wealth in the pure blue cities and in the tech sector is overwhelmingly leftist.

After a whirlwind of press furore – extending the drive against President Trump’s recent remarks aimed at the ‘squad’ – following Georgia Rep. Erica Thomas’ claims she was a victim of a racist attack when a man confronted her in a grocery line telling her to “go back to her own country,” it appears she is rapidly backtracking on her original story.

About 12 investors made offers on a collection of rent stabilized Harlem apartment buildings that listed in April for $260 million, according to Bloomberg. But then, the NY legislature re-wrote the rules of stabilized rents, which capped property values and slashed the potential for increases in rent overnight.
The bids for the 28 building “Harlem Ensemble” apartments that were on the sale block instantly disappeared.
David Chase, partner at B6 Real Estate Advisors said: “They called us every day — and then we couldn’t reach them.”

The New York Times fudged book sales data in order to deny top-five billing to the best-selling “Justice on Trial,” the definitive and deeply reported account of the nomination and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, which was written by Carrie Severino and Mollie Hemingway, a Senior Editor for The Federalist. Industry sales figures show that the New York Times ignored actual data on nationwide sales in order to depress the rankings not just for the Hemingway/Severino book, but also Mark Levin’s latest book on the corruption of modern journalism.

We are dealing here with a trail of fraud, lies and perjury. David Steinberg has itemized eight crimes which the evidence suggests Omar likely has committed, yet the liberal media averts its eyes. Contrast the media’s reticence on the Omar story with the fervor with which liberal reporters go after the barest rumor of scandal if it involves a Republican.

I’ve thrown in my lot with the pedants. Yes, language is a living tree, eternally sprouting new shoots as other branches wither . . . blah, blah, blah. But a poorly cultivated plant can readily gnarl from lush foliage to unsightly sticks. The internet has turbocharged lexical fads (such as “turbocharge”) and grammatical decay. Rather than infuse English with a new vitality, this degeneration spreads the blight of sheer ignorance. So this month we address a set of developments in the prevailing conventions of the English language whose only commonality is that they drive me crazy.
Preach it, sister.

But once you move past those accents, you’ll find another social transformation mirrored in our voices: women today speak at a deeper pitch than their mothers or grandmothers would have done, thanks to the changing power dynamics between men and women.
I rather doubt that ‘changing power dynamics’ have an effect on the pitch of people’s voices. This sounds to me like proglodyte pseudo-science; the fact that it’s from the BBC makes that supposition almost a certainty.
Instead, the researchers speculated that the transformation reflects the rise of women to more prominent roles in society, leading them to adopt a deeper tone to project authority and dominance in the workplace.
So really it’s a voluntary change to increase dominance behavior, like wearing pants rather than a dress.
It would be interesting to run the same experiment on men to see whether the prevalence of the beta male has resulted in an average increase in the pitch of male voices.

Of all the problems facing America, littering might be most amenable to social engineering. The American Establishment put together a big anti-littering campaign in the 1950s and 1960s, hitting paydirt with the famous “Crying Indian” TV commercial in 1971 that racially shamed whites into not littering.
Now, though, there are a whole bunch of new people here from more littering-prone cultures like Mexico that haven’t been adequately shamed into not littering. But to even mention that fact is deemed unspeakable evil.
Leftists in general are a bunch of slobs. Take a look at any ‘after’ picture of a place where proglodytes have congregates, for a ‘protest’ or ‘demonstration’ or whatever, it looks like a landfill site.

Taki is delightfully dyspeptic today.
Standing right below the Acropolis, where pure democracy began because public officials were elected by lot, I try to imagine if random political selection today would be a good thing. The answer is a resounding yes. Both Socrates and Aristotle questioned fundamental norms and values, and if they lived today they would certainly question the acceptance by us of career politicians who have never had any other profession. (Corbyn, Biden, I could go on.) Socrates was skeptical about many things, especially the arts, because he believed they led us away from the truth. Yet so-called “artists” today influence public opinion as never before. Even numbskull rappers have a say and can alter public opinion, hence election by lot should be a must.

Today it’s an established fact that our skeletons are surprisingly malleable. The pure white remains displayed in museums may seem solid and inert, but the bones beneath our flesh are very much alive – they’re actually pink with blood vessels – and they’re constantly being broken down and rebuilt. So although each person’s skeleton develops according to a rough template set out in their DNA, it is then tailored to accommodate the unique stresses of their life.

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is not really incestuous or polyandrous — the alleged marriage to her brother was never more than a scam, presumably to advance his immigration status. Her main squeeze, whom she belatedly married, was not her husband when she falsely filed joint tax returns with him. So there was no bigamy, just plain old tax fraud.
For the rest of this post, readers are asked to mentally insert the word “alleged” in front of any description of a crime or potential crime. Except for the fraudulent tax returns — which are documented in the public record — Rep. Omar has not been convicted of any crime, so the “alleged”s are de rigueur. Nor has she been investigated for any of the other crimes, as far as I know. Since she is a Woke Woman of Color, and a Muslim to boot, she generally gets a free pass.

Here’s a working definition of an “MSNBC Republican:” one who is loath to say anything good about anyone associated with President Trump. Susan Del Percio gave a perfect illustration of the genre on today’s Morning Joe. Discussing President Trump’s disavowal of the “send her back” chant at his recent North Carolina rally, Del Percio said: “We hear—and I hate to give her any real credit—but we hear Ivanka Trump did say, did speak to her father, too, saying this was a bit too far.”

The Whole Woke World has gotten worked up during the last few weeks about the need to Crush Segregation: white children must be tracked down and bused to black schools to provide the locals with Integration. We must return to 1971 and do busing all over again!
Of course, this logic is incompatible with the other logic that: Hey, white people, this isn’t 1971 and you aren’t the huge majority anymore. Your days are numbered, baby!
But who care about logic?

If you have kids or attend school yourself, you might have noticed that cursive handwriting—that loopy, continuous written style popular in the 20th century and recently cast aside in favor of key-boards—is making a comeback. And just because we have more tools to communicate doesn’t mean that those who aren’t in school should abandon cursive writing, which provides an abundance of benefits.

Up until the mid-2000s, circadian rhythm science had been mostly viewed as a kind of cute, niche little corner of biology. But advances in gene sequencing technologies post-Human Genome Project led scientists to realize that the clock controlled more than 10,000 genes in nearly every cell in the human body. Even more recently, they discovered that clock was malleable. “Almost all the important functions in your body have a temporal component that we can tweak through the power of circadian manipulation,” says Jake Chen, a biochemist at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. He’s spent the last ten years hunting for compounds with circadian-boosting properties and testing the hypothesis that they can make people live happier, healthier, longer lives. If he’s right, curing or preventing some of society’s most common and costly diseases might come down to chemically resetting our clocks. “The time has come for the biomedical research community to recognize that biological timing is a bonafide therapeutic target.”
