Texas has Bucee’s, loaded with large, clean restrooms, lots of drink choices, snacks of every kind, and lots of really horrible decorative stuff. It’s an oasis on the freeway. I stopped at one that even had real gasoline – the stuff without ethanol. They sell an amazing amount of deer corn.

It’s hard to describe how nice it is to stop, stretch your legs wandering around Bucee’s, make any necessary pit stop, and walk out with a gallon container of cold ice tea for 89 cents. On late night trips and cold weather, the coffee is pretty decent. Particularly so for those of us who avoid the expensive choices of Starbucks and just want freakin’ coffee.
