Trump’s Effort to Hobble the Mueller Investigation Must Be Stopped All he’s done is replaced his Attorney General, which he is certainly entitled to do. But the knee-jerk reaction is that it somehow ‘hobbles’ the Mueller investigation. (And how do they intend to ‘stop’ it? He’s the President.)

The BBC is a government-owned Voice of the Crust, so they worry about ‘inequality’ without bothering to think about or attempt to explain why they believe that it’s a problem. IT JUST IS! is the sum of their thinking on the subject, if I may so misuse the term.
Amidst a word-salad of proper socialist base-touching and virtue-signaling, however, this Servant of the Crust reveals that the Mass of Deplorables in most countries think that inequality (in the form of what portion of the population owns what portion of the ‘wealth’ in that country) is vastly greater than it actually is.
He then engages in the typical hand-waving sociological jargon about why that is, without bothering to consider the obvious reason: It’s a problem because everything people read in the news and hear on TV and radio Just Assumes that it is.
In South Sudan, according to Voice of America News, an online auction was being held for marriage rights to a 16 year old girl. South Sudan’s National Alliance for Women Lawyers called the action “a gross human rights violation” which “violates the rights of a girl.” On Facebook, several posts followed the auction. The original poster called the situation a “competition.” At one point, the leading bid was 500 cows and 3 cars.

If, of course, you can eat them without barfing, which I have never been able to do.
(No, I have no idea what the difference is between Brussels Sprouts and Seasonal Brussels Sprouts. Perhaps the Seasonal Brussels Sprouts smoke weed or something.)
The President retains – has indeed strengthened – his power to make judicial, and some other key administration, appointments. While the House can block Republicans’ legislative plans, the Senate can block Democrats’ plans in return, so political gridlock could be at hand. And without a Senate majority, any ambitions the Democrats might harbour for impeachment will go nowhere.
The judges and the bureaucracy are the important things right now. Republicans need to lock in their gains there the way Democrats have been doing for the last 60 years.

Just when you think you’ve seen the most ridiculous thing ever, they surprise you.
Just as the people who got richest from a gold rush were those who supplied the poor schmucks panning for gold, in the modern world those who make the most money are those who create the tools for virtue-signaling.
Barnum was right, there’s one born every minute.

The Obama administration didn’t like firearms merchants, payday loan services, and some other businesses. Operation Choke Point was the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s plan to shut them down by choking off their access to the banking system. Regulators repeatedly threatened bankers with tighter scrutiny if they did business with these so-called “high risk” accounts—absurdly comparing payday lenders to porn shops and Ponzi schemes.
“I don’t like this product and I don’t believe it has anyplace in our financial system,” said a senior Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation regulator to a banker, whose sin was to consider a lawful business relationship with a payday lender. “Your decision to move forward will result in an immediate unplanned audit of your entire bank.”
In other words: Do something legal that we don’t like, and I’ll inflict extraordinary and excessive harassment.
Black good, white bad, all hail the holy Narrative.

Andrew Kaczynski and the rest of CNN’s so-called KFile unit ought to count their reporting as direct campaign contributions to Democrats.
Last year, in accusing Sheriff David Clarke and Monica Crowley of plagiarism when the Trump administration was considering them for positions, CNN omitted the authors’ footnotes, which contained the source attributions. CNN had one sentence acknowledging Clarke’s footnotes, but they left out the references when they showed readers the quoted passages.

There are more than a million discussion forums on Reddit, and if you can’t find what you’re looking for in any of those—well, there’s a forum for that, too. Two weeks ago, a user named WeHaveAllBeenThere went to the “Find a Reddit” group in search of a place “where you post a picture of the inside of your refrigerator and people guess how old you are or what your job is.” Within an hour, someone had created a subreddit called Fridge Detective, and in the thirteen days since twelve thousand more sleuths have signed on to examine, in minute detail, the interiors of one another’s refrigerators. Like a party guest poking around in the host’s medicine cabinet, or a magazine throwing back the doors on a celebrity shoe closet, the icebox snoops hunt for clues in patterns of consumption. Crisper drawers bursting with a rainbow of produce? Neatly marshalled rows of bottled water? A half-eaten yogurt, a packet of cheese, fifteen types of mustard, and a single bottle of beer? In these oddly intimate snapshots of place, class, and culture, everything—even nothing—says something.

It may sound silly, but try storing your plastic wrap in the freezer instead of tossing it in a drawer or cupboard. The cold temperature alters the polyethylene at the molecular level, which helps to remove the static and stickiness.
You may be wondering, “But isn’t that the point of cling wrap—to, well, cling to things?” Yes, that’s true. However, the freezer only temporarily changes the properties of the plastic wrap, giving you enough time to rip a sheet off and cover your leftovers with it while the material is still cool. Once the plastic wrap warms up, it will go back to its old, clingy self.
Haven’t tried it yet, although I intend to.
