But she is a good example of the larger adversary culture that universities not only “nudge” students toward, but actively indoctrinate them into. Simply put, there is an entire industry dedicated to the proposition that not just the American past, but the American present, is disordered, bigoted, and oppressive. And Jeong’s meteoric and meritocratic rise demonstrates how so many of our best and brightest have gotten that message. How many have internalized it as ideology or have just cynically decided that’s how you get ahead is an open question.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently agreed to rule on a case that could have a major impact on civil liberties and whether civil asset forfeiture can continue to serve as low hanging fruit for bureaucratic interests run amok.

Timbs v. Indiana involves a man whose $42,000 Land Rover was confiscated via civil asset forfeiture. Attorneys from the libertarian public-interest law firm, Institute for Justice, don’t deny their client Tyson Timbs was convicted of selling $385 worth of heroin in two transactions and that his vehicle was used in the sale.

What they do contest is that the confiscation of the Land Rover (purchased with a payment from a life insurance policy, not drug money) was unconstitutional under the Excessive Fines Clause of the 8th Amendment.

How is that? Due to a plea bargain, Timbs was sentenced to one year of house arrest and five years of probation. He was also assessed a total of $1,200 in fees and fines. The offense carries a maximum fine of $10,000. Hence, Timbs’ attorneys assert the confiscation of a $42,000 car exceeds what he was liable for in the first place.

Residents of upstate New York are actively assisting migrants illegally cross the border into Canada.

As the Washington Post reports, the activists are supplying people — supposedly seeking asylum from the United States — with food, clothing and support. They even call their assistance network an “Underground Railway,” in tribute to the clandestine operation that ferried slaves from the South to abolitionist enclaves in New York and Canada.

Those facilitating the illegals’ journey to Canada, via the Quebec border, say this is no different than assisting the draft-dodgers who fled to Canada to avoid service in the Vietnam War.

“We view this as our Underground Railroad,” Carole Slatkin told the Post. Moving migrants across the border from Esssex, New York, Slatkin says she is following a higher calling. “While no one is being flogged, and no one is being sold, there is this sort of modern-day equivalent of feeling like people are in danger.”

Yeah, there’s that ‘nobody’s being flogged, nobody’s being sold’ rock in the middle of the stream of Virtue Signaling. But they can ignore it successfully; it’s what they do.

That rot is now metastasizing, and Protestant ‘Christianity’ is dissolving like a pile of sand in a rainstorm. Within my lifetime I expect to see all such ‘denominations’ reduced to Hip And Trendy costume parties that call themselves Christian(of the new and improved kind!) and provide a place for Social Justice Warriors to socialize on weekends but whose doctrines (if they have any) no Christian of the Church’s first thousand years would recognize.
