One Response to “Top Options and Reasons for Choosing and Using an AR-15”
“..5.56mm bullet that fires at a lower velocity together with the guns design leads to bullet fragmentation in the target, thereby delivering a more lethal result than its competitors” What?? The bullet doesn’t fragment, and the velocity is higher than the main competitor, the 7.26R.
“Rule of thumb: The longer the rifle, the higher the accuracy, the shorter the rifle, the higher the reload and fire rate” Clearly, no. The rate of fire, and thus the rate of reload, is controlled by the bolt. The gas tube does not get longer because the barrel gets longer.
“Stainless steel barrels are the most accurate ” No. The material of construction has nothing to do with accuracy.
His price range quotes are also Obama-era panic prices, which are now much lower.
It also makes me unhappy that he mixes M-16 stuff with AR-15 stuff, making it sound like they are the same. The AR is NOT full auto (or even 3-round burst like most M-4s). There are enough fools out there that think these are military rifles that they shouldn’t be encouraged by this sloppy writing.
A quality AR with a match grade barrel and good optics can consistently nail a target at 400 yards. It’s also not limited to 5.56, but can also shoot .308, 6.5 Creedmoor, 458 Socom, etc.
