Steve Sailer jumps on board the soccer wagon.
Games such as soccer, rugby, American football, and Australian rules football started out in England as mob football, a pretty much ruleless contest played in a town’s high street with all the lads from one end of town vying against against all the lads from the other end of town, such as the the Up’ards and the Down’ards of Ashbourne, to move the ball to distant goals, sometimes miles apart. These games were kind of a cross between a modern rugby scrum and a mass migration.

German politicians are under growing pressure from their constituents to reduce the flow of Moslem migrants and more carefully screen those that are let in. Most elected (and unelected) officials have taken the position that allowing large numbers of Moslem refugees (from civil wars, rebellions and religious conflicts in Moslem majority nations) is the humanitarian thing to do. Their constituents point out that many of the politicians are delusional because these officials do not live near the new arrivals and experience the increasing crime and general hostility expressed by so many of the refugees towards non-Moslems (and often each other). Voters point out that their political leaders tend to live in well protected neighborhoods and have access to taxpayer supplied personal security. To make matters worse there are a growing number of instants were local (or national) officials deliberately conceal the data on criminal activity by Moslem migrants.

Three Democratic congressmen declared on Thursday that they will vote “no” on their own legislation if House Speaker Paul Ryan puts their bill on the floor.
Reps. Mark Pocan of Wisconsin, Pramila Jayapal of Washington and Adriano Espaillat of New York introduced the Establishing a Humane Immigration Enforcement Act earlier Thursday, which would abolish ICE within one year of enactment, and also assemble a commission tasked with setting up a new immigration enforcement agency.
Hours later, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced he planned to bring the proposed “Abolish ICE” bill to the floor, reported The Hill.
The three congressmen promptly released a joint statement accusing Ryan of not taking their bill seriously, and as an act of protest, they will vote down their own legislation and instead use the opportunity to discuss Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, President Donald Trump’s zero-tolerance immigration policy and ICE.
Really, you can’t make this stuff up.

From 1996 through 2016, just under half of all aliens who were set free pending a trial date—1.25 million in total—were ordered removed, i.e. deported. Of that number, 952,291 were removed for evading court. Less than a quarter of this same group actually appeared in court. Over the span of more than two decades of court business, nearly two-fifths (37 percent) of those who were let free before their trial ended up fleeing court.
Since 1996, an average of 45,000 migrants each year disappeared, adding to a backlog of unexecuted removal orders that in 2016 numbered 954,000. If predictions are correct, nearly 57,000 people will evade their hearings in 2018 and bring the 23-year failure-to-appear total to 1.05 million—that’s 9.3 percent of the illegal population in the U.S. as measured by a 2017 Pew Research Center study.
It is here that damage to the courts, immigration enforcement, and national security intersect.

We noted Yale Law School’s beclowning itself over the Kavanaugh nomination (“people will die!TM) a couple days ago, so it is worth noting that the grown-ups have shown up, clearly embarrassed by the silliness of the attacks on Kavanaugh from their students and lesser colleagues on the faculty, with an open letter that all but formally endorses Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

So … there is a new sheriff in town. He does not walk ‘softly’. He carries a big stick. He isn’t diplomatic. He speaks candidly, which makes many cringe. He’s the stereotype of the “Ugly American” to half the world and it’s best defender to the other half. We are seeing some titanic shifts in the global world order as a result. The objective is more symmetry, a more even playing field and some new “heartland winners and coastal losers”. To me, this shift feels good. This shift feels right. This shift feels long over due. As VDH points out, if the global world order had not been so asymmetrical over these past decades, we probably wouldn’t have had President Donald J. Trump.

The opposition to the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as a Supreme Court justice has evolved from the merely desperate to the hilariously desperate. A good example of the latter can be seen in the July 10 New York magazine in which writer Ed Kilgore suggests that the Maine Democrats politically bribe Republican Senator Susan Collins with a promise by their state chairman to endorse her when she is up for re-election in 2020.
Perhaps I am old school enough to believe that a bribe should be given in its traditional form as cash wrapped inside a brown paper bag but Kilgore somehow thinks that his political bribe could work….
I must confess to having about as much respect for Senator Collins as Kilgore does, but this is a bit much.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the National Review crowd, but this is just too stupid for words.
Just because Trump says X doesn’t mean that X is true. Nordlinger and the other pearl-clutchers of the Establishment Right have this serious psychological defect that, coming from the right-wing think-tank/opinionator realm, they say what they mean and mean what they say; as a result, they think that anybody who isn’t a Lying Democrat (of which there be many) does (or at least ought to do) the same thing. That’s not Trump. For Trump, what he says is a tool, and any correspondence between what he says, and what actually is, may or may not exist. What Trump says is what he wants you to hear, and that’s all. If you take it for more than that, then you’re a fool and he will play you like Eric Clapton with a guitar.
Trump knows more about what’s going on than you or I or even (gasp) Jay Nordlinger. He has all of the intelligence apparatus of the President of the United States at his disposal. If he does something, there’s a reason for it, and that reason is likely to be far from obvious — so to look at the obvious and recoil is on a par with a cow changing direction because a cowboy is flapping a blanket at it. Nordlinger has locked down his membership in the herd, and I find it very distasteful that supposedly intelligent people are so easily duped.
Jay Nordlinger doesn’t want a real President; he wants somebody Righteous. Ronald Reagan was Righteous. George W. Bush was Righteous. Mitt Romney was Righteous. Nordlinger suffers from the same disease as every SJW in the DemLegHump Media: They want a President who will Signal Virtue with every word he speaks and every act he takes (which is why they loved Obama so much). This is why the National Review crowd would rather have a Republican Presidential candidate who is Righteous but loses over one who isn’t and can win.
Trump isn’t Righteous. He has seen Righteous in the business world and has correctly deduced that it is a Loser. Trump is Cunning. As a result, he wins far more often than not. As President, the American people have benefited from the winning along with Trump. That’s why Trump has gotten More Stuff Done from a ‘conservative’ standpoint in two years than Reagan managed to get done in four, and is likely to continue winning.
When it comes to winning, I’ll pick Cunning over Righteous every time. People like Jay Norlinger need to go back to sucking their thumbs and leave governing to those who understand the process and can get the job done.
